"Force a specific background and accent colour" GPO requirements are 2012 r2, 8.1 only. This doesn't seem to work. what do you mean by "install theme key"? Am i approaching this the wrong way? Thanks for your input.

We have branded our windows 10 install with our wallpaper and colours. However i'm unable to find the location in GPo editor which allows me to change the colour of the middle screen below: The blue looks totally out of place with our colours. Does anybody where i can change this? We use this screen as our AUP. Cheers

Sorry guys, i think i've over complicated my description of the issue i'm having. To clarify, i have managed to get the client av software to install (typo on the .exe i was trying to launch) one of those days. What leaves me baffled is that i can't "see" bat files on a server share i access via a unc path. I can only "See" them via a mapped network drive. as per the screenshots

Yeah like i say the .bat file works fine when i launch it directly from the a mapped drive location. if i \\ into the server share i can't even see the .bat file. as per the screenshots

I'm really confused as i've never seen this behaviour before. I've also put in the server 2016 section as i'm able to replicate this on both windows 7 and 10 machines to my server 2016 file server share. Sorry if it's in the wrong place Ok long story short, i've been trying to deploy a av client via an ad startup script and it's been failing to install. it uses a .bat file located on a hidden unc share that all users have access to. If i launch (or try) to launch the .bat via unc path i get an this location (or rather file) doesn't exist error. If i launch the .bat file direct from a mapped network location it works fine. see the screenshots below, both locations are on the same server in the same share location. The only difference is that the one where 3 files are visible i've used a mapped drive to view the location. And the one showing 2 files is using a unc path. Any Ideas?

Hi all happy friday! We're looking at going s2d next year with a 3 node cluster. assuming that goes to plan, and we've had it in use for x-years, can you just add a new, higher spec server to the cluster with it being hyper converged? Does it just absorb the resources and storage and then balance accordingly? Then retire the older node and repeat 2 more times. My gut is saying, no. But how would you upgrade the cluster assuming the nodes are of age and being retired with newer hardware. Surely they just have to be equal or higher spec? I can't find any info on having different spec machines in an existing s2d cluster. Only that they have to be identical when first creating the s2d cluster. Anybody help? i don't have the ability to test this or know the answer. cheers

Sorry just noticed your question is with regards to Storage Spaces not Storage Spaces Direct. The only thin i have on that is this article from microsoft about Storage Spaces fault tolerance non Direct. https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/mt651669(v=ws.11)

The fault tolerance is across the nodes..... I agree, i like the idea on local raid10 on each server clustered with S2D. As a test i used a dell t610 with a perc6/i controller. It doesn't support pass-through (jbod) only raid levels. I tried to to configuire each of the 8 disks as RAID0, which did present them to the OS. However storage spaces basically laughed at me and said "Nice try Jnr". It was just as a test, i would never do that in production. So a true Jbod controller is needed. However they also need to be server 2016 (S2D) certified. We were looking at the dell r730xd servers. Although the H730 controllers support jbod, they aren't certified so fail the S2D tests. We have a sophos utm and create a dedicated WIFI SSID with dhcp/dns and force a web filter rule to the ssid. In this case Students. Authentication is set to "transparent" cheers

Has anybody managed to get AD syncing with Google apps and automatically sign users in? We currently use Google ADdirectory sync (or cloud sync i think it's called now) to create the account. I'm aware that they do a password sync tool. But the users still have to "sign in". I basically want a user to sign into their Computer with AD details and be automatically be sign into google. Is this possible? cheers all

Yeah just another pair or stacked switches seems abit over kill at the mo. Just wanted to know if it's possible using Virtual switches. I'm sure i read that starwind recommends that topology using their vSAN but we just want to use ye'olde Hyper-v. I did manage to make a pretty picture though.

Following on this this thread: http://www.edugeek.net/forums/how-do-you-do/188092-dfs-role-dc-file-server.html I've managed to get DFS and DSFR configured and working. i noticed that the test share doesn't show the root storage quota limits as defined via FSRM. So the file physically exists in two places now. But i only have a FRSM rule set on one of the two physical folder locations..... Can this be replicated? If have imported the templates to the 2nd server and if i configure the quota it works as i want. Surely i should set this centrally for it to become active on both DFS locations? I have to re-create every quota for each share on the 2nd server? Am i missing something here? thanks in advance.

Can you interconnect Physical (Hyper-v S2D) servers via virtual switches? (non 10gbe physical switch) Say 3 nodes with each having 2 x 10gb nics for hyper-v switching (cluster) and 2 x 1gb nics for serving data to a physical switch and thus to end users. Just thinking out loud, but its been a long day...... and we have no money for a 10gb switches lol.
