Network boot direct from WDS server, i.e. F12 on most PCs. Most PCs used in enterprise environments (HP, Dell, etc.) have this function from what I have found. But sometimes it is possible to use a USB Ethernet dongle for devices without wired ethernet such as MS Surface, just need to get one with compatible chipset and get the drivers on the boot image.

We did a bit different at a previous place, we had a task sequence install OS and all the applications as build phase on a VM then capture the VM automatically at the end of the task sequence to the MDT server. The advantage being that there was very little deployment time at the expense of build time and getting the necesary MSIs/EXEs and the required switches (which changed on a yearly basis with some apps). We did have the option of pausing the build to install any awkward apps but rarely had to do that. Deployment was much quicker with selection profiles for drivers and we regularly re-imaged IT rooms in around 40mins start to finish including packages like Visual Studio and Adobe CC. If there was an issue on a teaching PC and we did suspected the PC we could have it ready for use during a lunch break rather than the alternative of leaving it running for someone to disturb.

Yeah some issues may not have any effect but was just a heads up. I'm still on Pre 6.0.0 at home I'm in no hurry to update yet, I only have 2 unifi APs and no other Unifi network equipment.

At work people who are exempt are asked to wear a specific colour lanyard. Lecturers also have power to put lessons online if people refuse to wear masks unless exempt or risk assessments are done in the rooms. We have also been asked to wear mask outside if social distancing cannot be practical.

It also can play havoc where you have captive portal or BYOD/Guest WiFi access systems that relies on MAC addresses. Especially when the devices per person are limited. Windows 10 home had this feature a few years ago and I think Andriod phones may well of done too. It is a bit confusing calling it Private addresses they should of used the term Random MAC addresses or MAC randomisation maybe in brackets, nearly everyone is going to have Private IP addresses, oh well Apple for you.

OK They are both technically stealing and still shoplifting They offer the mask instead of turning people away unless they are exempt and personally I'd prefer to pay for the mask instead of the drive home or I'd be making sure I take my own mask.

Your distracted enough to let someone put something in your hand On subject, I they are not quite the same thing. If you turned up to supermarket but you forgot your mask would it not be better to get a mask then go back home. If you left it in your car then that is a bit easier but still at least the option is there. How do they deal with people who then do not pay after given a mask?

The devices are on 2 different networks? Have both devices got routes or ways to communicate to the other network a bit more info or diagram may be of help. Can you do a traceroute to the IP address and see what that comes back with? I do not know USGs that well as I never use them to be honest but that sounds like some sort of routing issue, the fact it is giving network unreachable. Unifi has had a few bad updates recently 6.0.20 and 6.0.22 . Did not effect everyone but quite a few people have had issues. Take a look at Lawrence Systems YouTube channel, he is not affiliated with Unifi/Ubiquiti to my knowledge but has done some videos explaining some of the issues.

We have one site, 2500 Aruba APs, 3 controllers in HA (work very well in our environment and admin is quite easy). I installed a Ruckus wireless about 10 years back at a previous employment (the experience was fine) and done admin on HP MSM for a few years (interface was a bit clunky I found).

Separating the APs onto their own vlan with the controller would certainly be a good move and see if there are any issues and pinging directly on that network, it is worth the effort to split up and keeps the management traffic away from your normal data traffic. There is some weirdness going on there.

Same boat, we go in only if we are needed to do a specific task that needs physical intervention but otherwise it is preference by org to WFH. To be honest I am working on Projects most of the time so WFH is no issue.

On the note of documentation, there is a free version of InfoBlox which can keep track of IP addresses used but I have setup PHPiPAM at home which offers scheduled scans, multiple IPv4/IPv6 Subnets and can get DNS names direct from DNS servers.

We use InfoBlox for DHCP here so it is a bit easier. InfoBlox was way ahead of Windows for DHCP redundancy and it probably still is. We also have about a thousand subnets so an IPAM solution makes it a hell of a lot easier. Personally I still prefer to add reservations for Printers, this is because I have seen many times before Printers lose their static settings. Having registrations is also a good record of what IP addresses have been used and stop the DHCP server giving these addresses to other clients, also gives you the flexibility that you only need change the reservation to change the IP address. My first job looking after a network there were static IP addresses everywhere and whilst this is OK there needs to be a method of knowing what is used etc. or documentation INMO Servers, Switches should defo be static but as I say it depends on the needs, everyone sees a different need, some system may work for one org but not necessarily for another.

OK, maybe wrongly I assumed by static DHCP you used a DHCP reservation and could not understand why this was then used any any other device, lol.

I think they are going to be treading on dangerous waters if they try and use this as grounds for getting rid of people. Mind you it sounds the kind of place I think a lot of people would not want to work at.

Was in 2 pubs on Saturday 6pm to 1am Sunday First pub was not doing any checks or recording contact info to start with but noticed they started checking people around 8pm, ordering was at bar with social distancing measures in place but drinks brought to table. All tables were separated with max 6 at each. Second Pub we gave contact info but there were like 5 small groups in there, it is a huge Weatherspoons and all tables separated by plastic shields. I'm surprised it was open so late TBH.

Have you got another DHCP server giving out addresses in the same scope/subnet? and you have overlapped IP addresses? Can you search by MAC address for the IP on the smoothwall? And then I suggest if you are overlapping you need to sort that out :-)

Cost savings to them whilst they charge inflated prices for drives, do they still firmware their controllers to only accept Dell branded drives? Lol.

trust relationship is prob the best way to do this, as long as the users are capable of pre-fixing the other different domain. Join the PC to the main one that is going to be used and then if the other domain needs to be used the just prefix it i.e xyz\USERNAME I'd echo others and ask why, are you migrating to a new domain, is there 2 different orgs using same PCs?

Thanks I'd be interested to know the outcome. I currently have a BT connection at home but was considering Vroom as an additional or replacement but I'd only consider that if I can use my own firewall with the static public IP. Given my own personal experience with VM it is unlikely to ever happen though.

That seems to be the solution we have seen with a few usff Lenovo Thinkstation desktops we have, although we often have to do a reboot between removing the device and re-scanning.
