If it's like Vista any license will l cover either 32 or 64 bit. If you buy the OEM version you have to pay a nominal charge for the other disk (or borrow one which is legal since you're licensed). My retail copy of Vista Ultimate has discs for both versions.

It also might be worth having a dig around in the settings for the wireless driver. There might be an option to prevent it powering down the wireless card.

Very well said, we already have a similar system. It's called fuel duty. Every tax costs money to introduce, every tax payment costs money to process, every non payment costs money to pursue. When we introduce new taxes we need to consider the efficiency of these tax, in this case I'd imagine a relatively high amount of the tax receipts will spent on administering this tax. Are councils going to have to inspect company car parks to see how many people are using them? Will they be using anti terrorist powers to do so? I not only don't support this tax on the grounds above. I also oppose it on the grounds that motorists already pay a stupid amount of tax. If the government want people out of their cars, and I don't think they do, they just want their money. Then it's very simple improve public transport, as you do it more people will use public transport and it'll become more sustainable. But at the moment public transport is not only too expensive, it's poorly organised, and not integrated.

Yep, AB Tutor is very good. The only problem is part of it's installation includes an unsigned driver which AFAIK you can't deploy centraly. If you leave the driver out (and it's recommended not required) then it's all MSIs and should be plain sailing. I delegated it to the junior technician. Give them a phone call you can trial it for free.

I'm setting up ESX with two server and a SAN. Out storage array is an HP 2012fc with 12x 450gb 15k drives. One big lun, or loads of different ones? I'm thinking just the one, since I'll get better performance with the data spread accross more drives. What did you do? The SWGfL arranged a network manager's meeting for Gloucestershire network managers. One topic discussed was having standardised usernames so students kept the same username throughout the their school career (I think the idea was originaly a BSF idea). One network manger suggested that we could use UPNs as log ins. Now if you can find me a class of 5 year old who could all remember thier UPNs I'll cook you a terradactyl egg omelet.

That's a bit harsh, Vista is effectively a not quite complete WIndows 7. I'm running Vista here because I need 64bit. Yes it's resource hungry, but it doesn't give me many problems. However Windows 7 looks like it's going to suppass Win95 as the most anticipated Windows OS ever. Lets hope MS can get it right out of the starting gates. I don't remember a Windows OS where they got it right before the first service pack. As for favourites, it's gotta be windows 2000. True XP has been the king of the desktop for many years now, but I don't see it as having been a big step from 2000. 2000 was the first version of NT that was as friendly as win 9x, XP took that ran with it and took NT into the home.

We do, but it's very easy for us since share a campus and 6th form with another school. Just start phoning other schools in your area. If you've got schools support people at the LEA it might also be worth giving them a call.

I want to learn how to I.P. enable a tea's made so there's a freshly brewed pot when I get home from work. Oh and produce custard cremes out of thin air with just the power of my mind (it's not doing so well, I've got 4million stale malted milks, but the icing is beyond me).
