  1. Reggie we use VLANS on Netgear's and are just down the road from you. http://techdataukinfo.co.uk/microsites/public-sector/docs/netgear/netgear_case_study.pdf
  2. Reggie how big is the rest of the profile? And have you binned off the stubfiles from the registry. Our complete student profile is about 5mb if you want I can send you some notes I have on our mandatory profile - takes about 10 seconds to login - about 6 on a new Core i5 Or pop in for a coffee and have a nose at ours ;-) John Paul Birkenhead Sixth Form
  3. Id be interested in this. We currently use mandatory profiles (with non redirected app data), and want to make Office365 available to our students via Microsoft Outlook 2010. Our staff are using an on premises Exchange box again with Mandatory profiles and a PRF file.
  4. We do it via Active Directory OU membership (our staff and students are in separate OU's), this is for our Students; We have this saved as 'Students.ps1' and at the start of term run it as a scheduled task 3 times a day, but after the term has settled down we run it once a night/ or sometimes manually as after our main September intake we don't have a lot of students joining, etc.
  5. Stephen Not exactly sure I have what you need but I have two Powershell scripts that assign our staff with one script and students with a second. This is because we have our staff on our main domain with our students on a sub @student domain I'll log on shortly and get the code

    Stone laptops

We have just over 60 of the NT307 and about 180 of the NT310 both around the same spec; Core i3/i5, 4gb RAM , SSD, . We had stone take out the webcam and optical drive to further push the battery life up. In nearly all of the cases were able to get a full college day on a single charge. We also use them for our Exams students who are allowed to use laptops. And for our bursary students who are assigned a laptop for home use - they take the drop test well ;-)
  7. +1 for the Stone AIO's with stand upgrade with integrated cable management
  8. We have a current core of 5 x Netgear GSM7352S and one GSM7328FS which starting tomorrow is being swapped out for; 2 x M7300 (XSM7224S) - 24 x 10gb SFP+ and 4 combo 10gb copper) 2 x M7100 (XSM7224) ( 24 x 10gb Copper and 4 combo SFP+)
  9. We do it using a custom mandatory profile on our network, which also has a GPO linked that uses a software restriction policy to disable web browsers, etc. Easiest way is to a create custom normal.dot and a .dotm templates and set this... Drop me an email / pm and I'll send our settings over. John Paul
  10. I posted in here a whole ago how we have Sibelius setup and how we fixed our latency issues http://www.edugeek.net/showthread.php?t=133827
  11. This was the mood in my department today when our most recent EBS issues were fixed.
  12. I believe it's early-mid May.
  13. Hi All Had a request for a team cycling route/ progress tracker... Bit of background Basically we have a few staff and students cycling part of the first stage of the Tour de France So the idea is to have some website that the students and staff can use to track their progress - I thought something like mapmytracks. All of the users will have a 3G device so will be able to have an 'app' tracking them Anyone offer up a suggestion Thanks all John Paul
  14. Does this apply to classroom based computers or just machines for home use/BYOD/
  15. Cluster shared volume? So the VMs sit on the shared storage , I'll elaborate based on our setup. We have 4 servers running Hyper-v (on SVR2012 R2) each with a dual 10gb NIC in - one to the LAN and one to a dedicated switch for iSCSI. An iSCSI target ( SAN ) we have a 18tb volume that all of our servers see and use - and all of our VMs are hosted on it, with config stored on whatever server we set it up to use. When we reboot (or force power off a host for DR testing) , actually this can better explain it than me rambling on http://www.msserverpro.com/implementing-windows-server-2012-hyper-v-failover-clustering/

    DHCP issues

Have you set the relay agent in your layer3 switch to tell it to route all of your dhcp traffic to your DHCP server? We have the 6 x GSM7352Sv2 as our core, soon to be replaced with 4 x XSM7224s and we had to set two settings; 01. System > Services > DHCP Relay Enable Admin Mode 02. System > Services > UDP Relay Server IP and select DCHP in the UDP settings
  18. Another EBS user We have used the support quite a lot, something seems to break at every upgrade... But i have nothing but good thing to say about their support team. Negatives (due to be resolved in EBS 4.20) Can't take registers our touchscreen monitors in classrooms unless you pull the USB because it crashes the register page because it's not touch aware. We can't roll out Win8 because we have to wait for the next version that removes the reliance on .NET4.0...
  19. Hi Having a clear out of our store room and have come access our Parasync unit that we bought for charging/sync'ing our iPod's/IPhones Anyone interested in it , will take any offers really Doesn't work with the lightening connector
  20. +1 for Konica We ripped out 130 printers and replaced them with 15 MFDs Bizhub 223/228 /C280/C360) Using Pcounter and Mifare proximity cards
  21. My Office - second pic is my workbench for development work I'll get a pic of my technicians office on monday
  22. I asked one of my staff he replied; " The USB keyboards we use are Alesis Q49, the older keyboards we use have a MIDI to USB adaptor. They have Soundblaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio ASIO4ALLv2 1024 Samples @ 44100 Hz Settings ASIO Buffer Size = 512 Samples Latency Compensation In 32 Samples Out 32 Samples Hardware Buffer (not checked) Always Resample (checked) Force WDM Driver to 16 Bit (not checked) " Hope that helps, if not direct message me and I'll put you in contact with him.
  23. We had a similar issue and solved it by getting dedicated sound cards that support ASIO We settled for Sound Blaster X-Fi Extreme Audio Card with X-Fi Crystalizer And installed the ASIO stuff for it - can't remember off the top of my head but I'll ask one of my staff that set ours up.
  24. Hi Imgtfy, Thanks for this
  25. I straw polled the staff before we ordered them on would they need this - a resounding no. Suppose it depends on the need/use/relevance
