i think what this shows is that big differences between contracts. Key is this one persons view in there LA etc and different companies and different LA contracts have different experiences. Russ -

In terms of what I would like to see from EMBC is bulk discount training. Like over yhgfl. http://www.edugeek.net/forums/yorkshire-humberside-grid-learning-yhgfl/33576-training.html Like idea ITIL, Maybe project management stuff and then of course the technical stuff. Russ -

To make clear all RMs telephone operations are in UK (one of two places Oxfordshire or Glasgow). They have Indian office (which deals with RM online side of stuff plus do technical stuff overnight remotely on customer servers if need be.) Russ -
Yes might be of interest... Russ

I don't know the highlight of the build up is the grid walk also to certain degree only Martin can get away with some stuff. Did like today where got him and bunch of burley engineers fighting over back of a car... As for BBC vrs ITV to me BCC brought two things extra a decent red button service and a decent online service. Russ

Quote that saw today that applies in your case. Horstman’s 11th Law, "Average people will not live up to great systems, and great people can overcome the worst of systems. Sounds like you got good people which means you are halfway to winning. Lot of good suggestions so far. I would also look at how work is time tabled in do you do just repair work through term time and major work through hols. How much major work is done through hols maybe set sites lower so that got spare time to catch up on repair wok. Russ

I have to say when factor in cost of time getting people into to do cabling makes more sense. A good example I heard today. "You might be able to rake leaves in your yard and do it in 15 mins. It might take local kid 30 minutes. While in time it is quicker for you to do it. Problem is while you are doing that you not doing something else that no one else can do it" So be blunt I rather pay someone do cabling so I can be focusing on other things. Anyway just lugged boxes to IT Room ready for next week well tomorrow as we start moving computers around from lunchtime. Russ

Never simple as that several factors could come into. Cost - moving away from any network to new one is not cheap and cost involved What is best for school - Maybe plain network is not right move for the school what is good for you may not be good for school. Technical staff may have other roles and focuses so having middle ware solution like RM is useful. Time it takes 8 weeks to install have fully functioning network with no issues so of us just don't have that time. Russ
