  1. As said going to give the 6 tickets to one winner. As way it works is named person can take 6 people but named person on the email will be ID checked so for example my name is on it at moment but they have agreeded I can change the contact name on them. @dwhyte85 pm sent As said no other way I can do it as they don't give you 6 physical tickets or voucher numbers.
  2. Ok I have 6 IT Tickets up for grabs on Friday 26th March 2010 due to way it works they have to go to one person after that they can decide who they are taking so if they want to offer the tickets to edugeek members and make a 'party' out of it that will be their choice. Venue: Pinewood Studios, Pinewood Road, Iver, Buckinghamshire, SL0 0NH. TIME: The studio doors open at 7.00pm. The gates to the site open at 6.00pm. There is a covered waiting area where refreshments are available for purchase. As you have priority tickets, it is imperative that you and your party arrive and check in by 6.30pm at the latest. After this time, priority seats will be released. No admittance after 7.15pm. We estimate the recording to be finished by 10.00pm. Due to short date anyone who replies here will get the name into a hat and one lucky winner pulled out. The person chosen will need to pm quickly full name. post code and email address. Russ edit I will close this at 8pm Friday 19th march 2010.. Edit 2: Seems like I was not very clear on this (my fault( so will try and make it clear The prize is the 6 tickets (no way I can do it any other way) it will go to one person they can do as they wish (I hope they invite other EG members but that will be down to them).. After closing date one name will be drawn out of hat and I will pm them. I will not be going (not that I do not want to but my better half is working so will be looking after my Son). To enter add a post here.. Hope that clears it all up.

  9. I wanted to move the discussion on from Tony recent posts as for various reasons I have been thinking about the Kit at work ( See Disaster recovery: so basic, so difficult - Community - ComputerworldUK if want to know why I was thinking about it.. shameless plug over) Anyway wondered what is in your DR kits to see if missing anything? Russ

  12. The main thing here is policy. Is there policies in place so that we as IT support staff are not held accountable for management actions.

  15. That is my point people made point there is too much choice and should be no choice and at same time want standards. Then at that point could be argued that BSF brings that As said this is me being slightly devil advocate here... Russ
  16. A fuller response again little of me is playing devil’s advocate here. So what about choice to teach in a style that is right for the teacher at hand (we are expected to personalise learning so why not for the teacher)? If by disallowing choice, are we bringing out the stereotyped view of IT support? What about Office does that mean you have to use Microsoft? What if a student can’t afford Microsoft Office and they have OpenOffice but then forget to save it in Microsoft Word format? What about BSF does bring the standards people are asking for only problem is it is not your standard! My own view is we have to offer choice. To make a point I never said that we had to offer every choice but users should have some choice. As for making users think, they have a choice but not giving them a choice. My view is that is a very dangerous game to play and one could backfire in big way if caught doing it.

  18. Better mention Single Status is to make sure that pay with in LA is same across all jobs and different sexes. So a network manager in one school in LA is paid same another network manager in same LA. The national pay scheme for school support staff is something very different
  19. So being a bit of devils advocate here (help I am turning into Tony). But you want BSF to give you choice are then doing same as us and not giving us the choice? standardisation isn't that what BSF brings? What about Microsoft Office vrs OpenOffice? What about teacher wanting a laptop station instead of desktop as they on the move a lot? What about choice of which way you access the support? It will be interesting to see this from a flip side and teachers point of view? A more fuller response later
  20. Well the links appear in my facebook stream (as well as twitter) Feel free to give your views on it (I am a man I can take it)
