Problem with GTD people see it is as some hard set rules the key here is to use common sense and also make the system yours. As was said some jobs are start and come back jobs. For that me that is where projects parts of GTD works (in GTD a project is something that has two or more actions). Don't get me wrong I think people have to find right productivity system for them. As Marc says GTD takes its time to get around and then you can make it your own. If looking for something less processed then GTD then do recommend the book Time Management for System Administrators.

In some ways that is one of the rules of GTD if job going to be 2 minutes or less then do it. Else make sure that have system in place to catch all your incomings (or as they call them in-boxes). The problem about just doing it falls down when can't get into a room or have a meeting to go to etc. At that point for me at least that is when I need something in place (as my memory is rubbish). Leaving BGFL
russdev replied to Tricky_Dicky's topic in West Midlands Regional Broadband Consortium (WMnet)
First should say I assume you are state school. National Education Network - The National Education Network This network all RBCs are connected into. Problem comes you should be replacing a "like for like" service which includes resources that NEN provides (even if not used). As apart from being in a RBC there is no way to access NEN so that is the stumbling block. If the head can justify the decision then should be no problem. This is not to put you off but this decision has to come from the head as moving away from an RBC it gets very political. Russ -

First C64 are then the hours spent typing in code from magazines.. As for music well I remember few years back being dragged to a trendy bar on the mall by Josie Fraser after conference one evening and it having a dj using old 8-bit music remixed. Can't say I was overly impressed Russ

Had it few times as someone said local councillor is your friend surprising what happen when they ring the department. Also if it is a council home ( I know in this case not) a new tenant then most LAs have policy that they can chuck you out within 12 months of the start of the lease with very short notice for pretty much no reason and certainly for anti social behaviour (key here is complain and make sure on council paper work). Just thought I better say so other members can see that you are basing your view from a students perspective (which is important do not get me wrong) Regards Russell

I can Lets forget the facebook part does that say they are on it all the time no that they use the internet. My 3 year old can use a computer, can use mouse and laptop mouse pad. Is he on it all the time? No he is limited to amount of time he is allowed on it. He uses (with supervision) the internet. IT is life skill these days same as we teach him to read and write. We also teach him how to use IT otherwise I would say we are doing him a a big disservice. Russ

errmmm I think that date is wrong.. Russ

This is problem people think that you need to be in management to wear a tie when it should be about dressing in a professional manner. Ok if culture of the workplace means it is no tie place then ok. But 90% of work places dressing professtional means for a men wearing a tie. The thing about professionalism is it is not the way your act but way people perceive you and the way you act that is important. Russ

Just got this today..

ohh here we go again the big tie debate all we need is Tony to come along and start thread about ironing and we have the set. But on serious note yes I agree with you John about taking a tie off.. Must admit one of my jobs is two sit down and learn to a few different knots.

Few things to check: - Check DNS and how long your IP lease times are (short lease times will muck it). As lot of problems can be caused by that Second check xml file on server is location correct there. Check Location link service is running on client. check server services are running as otherwise the xml files will not get updated. Check settings in RMMC for tutor as Location link services get location data etc. But User policies in RMMC decide if get to see all machines or just that room. Out of interest do a profile reset on a user does it work then? They will do for starters as they say. Russ

Depends on who you are going to. Remember likes of RM, Ramesys and Northgate were around long time before BSF. Is suspect that they all have plans in a cut down version of the BSF programme. Also they have contracts which will run and will not be effected by any change of government. Also the above 3 have fingers in other pies other than BSF. But on other hand if going for a firm that is major income is BSF then that is another matter. So answer is depends on which firm.
