Sibelius 7 - for the sheer audacity of AVID of coming up with a 40+ gb installation that you cannot deploy on the network (comes with no MSI, bad instructions and if you dont install the required HD sound files its sounds terrible, even with these so called improved soundfiles, our students actually tell staff it doesnt sound better than previous versions (5) also) Adobe Flash - Updated way too much, barely a month goes by without needing to redo the installation MSI Those are probably the biggest pains of the last year, adobe is there because when you let it get behind current versions, usually then we get things like youtube not working.

If your within warranty, get in touch with your supplier and get them out to sort it, I have had some major problems on my site here with intel boards dying on me (Older intel boards admittedly DG965MS ones I think) we have lost in excess of 15 units now with problems relating to that certain motherboard

Impero looked very impressive to me - Advanced power saving and monitoring features(you can pretty much point out underutilised PCs and see what ones are heavily used looking at idle times and such), live bandwidth and CPU monitoring (so no more "the system isnt working" when someones in the classroom downloading isos and watching 4 youtube streams at the same time). Abilities to talk to people your dealing with remotely too, so you can say "Try logging in now" and such whenyour fixing a PC remotely, they can also talk back to you if a mic is available. I was also impressed by a lot of the huge touch screen monitors running the google maps type program where you could control a lot of stuff on the screen using gestures similar to the film minority report, shame they weighed in at large prices.

Work - projects depend on funding and budgets I suppose, been looking at some nice stuff over the last few months though, as @garethedmondson said Virtualisation is a big one we are looking at and wireless for byod too, we have also been examining our networking infrastructure, Citrix was very impressive stuff when we looked at it and our windows 7 rollout went fairly painlessly (issues with sibelius were a headache logistically because of the bonkers file sizes) and staff took minimal time to get to grips with it. All in all makes for a good year ahead workwise with some exciting stuff to look at. Home - Looking forward to becoming a dad (Wife is 10 weeks along now and all going well) though I will have to overcome my hatred of DIY to sort out a nursery here, life is great at the moment.

yeah, I havent levelled a character from scratch myself in a while now though my 24 lock is rising slowly (sub 10 hours per week here) (6 x 85s and I lost the will to live) but its been improved again with the last patch, even the newer WOTLK content now should be easy to plough through. When you have that first character levelled, you will get access to heirlooms also which make anything you level afterwards even faster should you choose to level other characters.

aye legacy gear on vanilla stuff is pretty terrible, most TBC greens blow that stuff out of the water, I remember my first char was my paladin back then, it was painful and nearly made me quit wow while levelling, then having 0 choice but to heal when levelled to 60 lol. My old alliance guild had 2 grand marshalls that got that title the old way on their warrior and priest, I cant for the life of me imagine why that would be considered fun by todays wow standard, though at the time their gear was pretty top notch for nothing there.

It can be considered a massive timesink, ive had problems with the time I spent playing in the past myself(something thats now well under control), but at the same time, it can be very enjoyable to play, I started in Vanilla wow and still play it today - I am horde on Outland EU. Not sure if some places will allow access to the websites below as they are probably categorised as gaming so apologies there in advance WoW Guild Rankings :: WoWProgress - World of Warcraft Rankings and History - I find you can get a good rough look on the realms and their populations here from the listings when picking servers in EU (though it seems im eternally based on outland because of RL ties with friends) - anything with a low player count on here is usually a dead server (not bad if you want peace and quiet and stress free wow free of ganking, because you can do any dungeons with the cross realm finder tool, but it means that the realm AH is usually ridiculous prices for everything and self sufficiency is a major headache and timesink for everything), same as before though really you will find that realms like Outland have queues on a lot of nights, especially now because of the LFR system in place (essentially its stress free pick up style raiding which you can see easy enough when your levelled up, a nice simple way to see content and get your characters geared albeit at a slightly lower level). Wowhead: OM NOM NOM - a much better alternative to thottbot too if you get stuck at all on quests. The game has probably changed quite majorly over the last few years, levelling is much much easier now compared to vanilla or tbc, dungeons are an easy enough way to level and you can skip through content also by doing this if your prepared to sit in a dungeon. Blizzard have also gone back and majorly reworked and improved the zones from what they used to be, even improving the lore and questing experience and flight paths feature everywhere throughout zones to make it that bit faster than it was before levelling - you basically fly to a hub, do all the quests around that hub and move on. Guild management - from my experiences I would say dont get involved in it if you can, from my point of view and running some raiding guilds you can easily turn your fun into a nightmare doing this, I discovered the simple fun again when I went casual. I think for me these days I have to much going on in my life to let it be the destructive influence it was previously (in excess at my worst of probably 40+ hours a week) whereas now, im lucky if I play one night a week and a little bit on the weekend should time allow.

Hello, I am after some quotes/recommendations for a projector bulb supplier if anyone can help me either here or by PM, The projector broken at the moment is an Epson EMP-S4 and the replacement bulb needed is this part number - ELPLP36 / V13H010L36 - So far we have been quoted prices that have been hideously expensive (I know projector bulbs are not cheap, but the supplier we have got a quote from just now weighed in at over £85 more than last time we ordered one). We would prefer a company based in the UK after our previous experience with a company advertising as UK but based in France let us down big time also(that teacher was without a projector bulb for nearly a month and all we got were empty promises that it had been posted). Hello, Not sure if this has been suggested before a search for Virtualisation yielded little in the way of this, but I was wondering if the management think it a good idea or not to create a Virtualisation forum within the Technical Forums section(for Vmware, Hyper-V and Citrix advice and solutions), its something that my school is currently looking at and I imagine a fair few others are also doing this, so I wonder if it would be a good idea to get this into its own category, at least so a bank of information can be built up. I started noticing this myself recently, I do indeed get annoyed by this practice with companies that offer a "network" solution or installation then fail to deliver on any of the things mentioned in the first post, most companies seem to think making a single installation is easy enough and going around each PC is a laugh then getting the stuff installed, a certain music package was a recent example, going from a small installation to something in excess of 40gb without providing any delivery method, just a server application to "authenticate" to. Quite annoying

I trialled it over the weekend just gone, spent a couple of hours on it and gave up in the end, cutscenes for quests became quite a frustrating thing for me (WoW player at heart) not a bad game, just not quite enough to hold my interest.

Thanks for that, I forgot to look in the thread you mentioned and after the day I had, I just didnt think to even search on here for that, ill give that solution a try tomorrow morning and hopefully it will end this problem for this particular user. Its been hugely frustrating because every day so far these last 7 days I've fixed it working through various things for it to manifest again the next day. Richard

Hello all, I am posting here, because I am seeing a fairly localised problem with one of our admin office staff, thats being suprisingly stubborn for this one user, I have basically worked through the following post because its a recognised problem that she is having - Unable to print or view the print preview of a webpage in Internet Explorer - I have carried out all the suggestions in there and some more, gfx cards drivers are up to date and I have even elevated the user temporarily to administrator level to access and run that command line and the fix its, but it still remains a temporary fix to the problem, when they log in the next day, the problem returns, we use mandatory profiles for users on our network all other staff use the same profile without any issue, we have had one or two occurrences of this problem before, but a profile deletion has fixed them to date up until this one, we dont use protected mode for IE that im aware of and running it as an administrator didnt fix it. Its causing me a headache as emails for staff are through outlook web access within our site, so this person obviously needs to be able to print through IE to record these emails. The printer is a brother laser printer set to be the default local printer attached to their printer via USB, mapped for the user through GPP on the domain(this is because SIMS FMS refused to recognise our network pull queue as a valid printer - FMS wouldnt start with that set as the printer), I have even set the user TEMP variable to be within the network space of the user so there are definitely no permissions problems relating to the temp folders as well. The printer in question also is installed with the correct drivers and I have even wiped the profile off the computer while doing this, I have even reimaged the PC to find the problem persists for this user after rebuilding, it temporarily fixes, but then occurs again a day or so later. It is Win7Enterprise/IE9 PC Can anyone make any suggestions as to anything obvious ive overlooked or not tried as of yet ? or has anyone else experienced this problem and worked through it ? I don't believe that we cannot, I think that we do not because we don't want multiple users logging onto the PCs endlessly now and its always been set to off historically on our network, areas like our library were a favourite for people locking workstations and going off to class. We have impero in place though which helps us with the logging people off if need be, but obviously we need to log onto another PC then to log them off, whereas with XP one logon and it logged them off.

just to clarify also - get the server installed and working first, register it all with sibelius then get the clients installed using the 70b8 updated installation file as @garethedmondson pointed out, we were seeing very large load times on our older hardware with the supplied client, its the same key for both network server and client also.

It is quite a frustrating thing this problem, in our school we cannot run fast user switching either, so we basically have to disable workstation locking for all the pupils on the school now that we are migrating to windows 7 to prevent them locking off computers and just leaving the classrooms, I cannot understand M$ logic behind removing that function of allowing an admin to log off a user.
