Hello All, I wondered if anyone has ever come across this before, Finder/OSX seemed to break last night on my Mac. Basically I powered my rMBP up last night and found that the trackpad/keyboard were refusing to input anything. Relaunching Finder did nothing at all. I cleared the SMC/PRAM following instructions found regarding the problem and it basically rebooted and I was then able to enter the password, when getting to the desktop then it locked up on the screen and refused to accept any input at all, I could move the mouse pointer fine using the trackad but that was it, no input at all. I then powered it off and went into the bootcamp partition to find that everything on Windows10 was working as normal and without any problem whatsoever, rebooting back to OSX and same problem, it was accepting entering of key commands fine when booting up nothing when at the prompt to login. Same when I went into Recovery on it then I had to power up my magic mouse to be able to enter any mouse input in OSX based booting, I managed to kick off the restore and its fixed it all now again after an hour working away. I am running El Capitan and wondered if anyones had this issue or knows of a way to overcome it ? it wasn't a case of slow keys being enabled or anything like that either.

I have an original mini and its decent enough, but I would plump for the Air myself too after having a mini, its just a little too small (dont know the difference a non-ret screen makes either)

The board model is an Intel DG33BU not sure if its a Sandybridge - I didnt think BIOS because these machines have always worked since I started at the school and developed the fault long after their installation. I have just used the BIOS Update on the three of them and it seems to have fixed things on rebooting with the new BIOS, I have the three machines re-imaging at the moment as a test, their no longer crawling along, I now have 47 machines to go as their part of a 50 batch bought at once and I think some preventative maintenance is in order on these to eek the life out on them. Its a System-211 from them, I checked the BIOS as it is at the moment and IDE/AHCI makes no difference to performance on these machines, but I will look for a BIOS update for the board and see how its going. At the moment, I have it rebuilding, but its doing nothing pretty much, a normal machine takes 12 minutes here, but this one has been on since 7:30 this morning when I got in and its not done anything of note, although it looks like its building.

Hello, I have a problem with unusual slowness of a couple of stone machines on our site, and I can't google it, because that search is juts inundated with c**p they both are basically crawling along doing network stuff, they are starting up as normal and getting to the F12 prompt and into our build area, but refusing to build, they are running at about 10% of the speed that they normally would be expected to operate. I have changed hard disks in the device and checked the switching and patch cables (replacing the cables with new ones) but that hasn't had any effect, I have moved them across campus too, but its still exhibiting that behaviour in my office (its not anything wrong with the area, other machines on that switch have rebuilt at max speed and our usual 12 minutes to reimage, I have tried a secondary network card also to see if the onboard NIC was an issue, but thats worked at the same pace with the machines. I am at the last resort of testing tomorrow where I will be running memtest+, but I was wondering if anyone had this problem with Stone machines before, their out of warranty by about 18 months and the standard intel board that you get in one of them. I am thinking its a possible motherboard issue looking at them both, they have the same symptoms Thanks, Rich

We just bought a set of HP 11 G3 chrome books here and they are excellent. I have a chromebook 13" G2 here as well, though its been somewhat superseded by my rMBP

Cable ties are the only realistic way to stop this I have found, group them all together and cable tie through the locking eye at the back of your average machine and your sorted.

That was one of the best weekends of rugby thats been on the television in years now I thought, We were horribly unlucky against SA and it was heartbreaking when they scored at the death (its not worth the agro people gave Wayne Barnes I thought, though he did have a couple of questionable calls in the beginning, you have to get passed that - though I do think the IRB leave themselves open to some neutrality questions at times) I think NZ showed their class against France who never got out of first gear and suffered badly with the loss of Michalak in the opening minutes. Ireland were outgunned by Argentina in their match who were really surprising in their win to me and I like an outsider, I think injuries to their key players cost them too dearly - O'Connell was a talisman for the team to focus and we can now see the effect that the 4 nations has had on bringing that team along professionally, its been hugely beneficial for them. Scotland - Horribly unlucky to get that treatment and its worse now that its been acknowledged as a wrong call on his part, though that was by far Scotlands best game in 5 years to put 30 points on Australia was no mean feat, we couldn't do that in our pool game. I think NZ will edge it for the rest of the tournament on what I have seen. I think next years 6 nations is going to be the most exciting it has been in years too based on the form of the teams in this tournament.

testdisk and photorec are the bees knees, if you cannot see a partition in windows get it on linux and see if it can be mounted, but if you want a quicker program to take a look - recuva by piriform is good as well if the drive is recognised in windows.

Primarily here we use the .sch.uk domain name, though we have a .org.uk domain as well, my complaint is a personal one in that our domain names and emails are overly long here because of the fact its a double barrelled address, some other schools in the locality have gone down the .net .org even a .com I believe, though they still retain their .sch.uk domains the same as everyone.

We have a JDSU Validator NT which does telephone/cat5e/cat6 cables here, it cost a fair whack and is a few years old, I think it was a region of £800-1000 back then. Think this is the type of device your looking for nowadays - SmartClass Ethernet | Viavi Solutions Inc. - most decent devices that do that are not cheap, though I would say a tester laser to shine down a fibre is a cheaper alternative for fibre testing gear and a decent cat5/6 tester

I wish there was a way to get the SuperHub2 for free, I am stuck on a V1 here and it works "ok", but the wifi is not brilliant, which is why I was thinking Airport and Modem Mode would be a lot better.

I was thinking earlier about this and there is a local chinese takeaway here that is rammed full all the time, the food is lovely in fairness, but its expensive, the Special Fried rice is a tiny bit below £7, which I think is awful, going by that price mentioned in the first thread, I can't believe thats average either.

That is scandalous tbh, Jumbo Sausage and chips anywhere down here at max is around £3.50
