They did input a leaving date, there was an alternative way of doing it that they were unaware of. So let's concetrate on getting them sorted out, so keep to constructive input please. Hi, There are installation guides available. There are two aproches you could take. Get it all up and running on the new server before you take down the old one, then just restore the data again to get the latest copy before going live, or you could purchase consultancy from us in the form of half day remote session or an on site session (remote is cheaper and does the same job). Matt, You're right about the API. We have a partnership programme which entitles people to the data structure used by the dataserver to query the database. This is the only way we will support any 3rd party softwares connecting to a facility database. The table structure and the way the data is stored is very complex so i would recommend you look into the partnership programme as an alternative. Mic@Serco

Are you using Virgin media internet down the phone line? Virgin usually operates on DSL (though they now have an ADSL service too). If you're using a modem which runs straight in through coax, you'll need a DSL router. If you're using it over the phone line, then it should be doable.

Halfords sell them dont they? Surely they dont cost £58, its just a bezel? And yeh... 3.5mm i've always known them as 3.5mm and 1/4" depending on obviously which one... lol. Never cottoned on that 3.5mm was 1/8th". And yeh about the 2005 stuff. It depends which headunit you have too.

A lot of headunits if they dont have a 1/8" jack on the front will have aux input on the back. Sometimes its RCA but you can convert that to 1/8" with a single cable and run it into the glove box or center console somwhere. The recent Fords usually have one just inside the glove box. I've moved mine to the center console.

I've got a 58 Mondeo 2.0 TDCi and how that works is an element in the DPF - if the exhaust gets hot enough it sorts itself out, if it gets to 500 miles without it doing it, at the 500 mile point, the element kicks in and causes regeneration.

Met with the school today and a few people. Hoping to go back in on Monday and have another look and meet a couple of the 6th formers. Though i'm not sure whether it's available generally enough to be on firstline but if you call support and ask them for the 64bit ISAPIs theyll gladly send you it and the relevant document. Just to clear up the thing about security - It will still work over apache on port 8080 (default) or if you know what you're doing or do some googling, you can use ssl on apache (defaults to 8443). The affect 64bit has is it uses different ISAPI's and they are depended upon by IIS. So esentially IIS isnt going to work - secure (ssl/https/port443) or other wise (http/port80). But as i said those new filters sort that out In terms of the original post - Search the website for eportal performance - although it's not eportal performance issues you're experiencing, the first thing i'd be looking at is how busy the server is when you're running these reports etc. Following the performance document will help reduce the overhead on the server and should have a positive knock on effect. Maybe also look at things such as... if you try it on the server is it also slow there? If you do it out of hours, is it quicker, or just as slow? Is it only slow on some work stations (regardless of spec)? Also, as a little aside, what antivirus do you have on the server? I've come across more and more of them now actually scanning the db and the log unless you tell it otherwise. And more and more are scanning all network traffic including http and https. Hi, Just to clear this up, there is an option in the software named 'data transfer'. This will import from csv. It is not an easy process, you have to be skilled and clued up in what you're doing, the data structure CMIS uses and the appropriate destination for the data. I would go with John and say give support a ring and explain what you're trying to do. Also maybe search first line for 'data transfer' and see if there's a manual up there. The only way i know of writing xml in such a format is from SQL, but you could easily stick your csv into a SQL table (in a database seperate from Facility preferably on a different server altoghther). That's going to take longer than typing them in though unless you're talking about entire years of students and regularly, for example? I would also question why they are on CSV. I'm speaking in none-serco terms here and from personal experience - when i used to be a data manager in a school, the primary schools had a legal obligation to pass on the information they had using the 's2s' (schools to schools) site. The only format this accepted information in was ctf. I did have to go to some of our feeder schools in our pyramid and train the staff on how to produce them but the fact i'd taken the time to do that and given them a bit of a life line in terms of support gave them the confidence and patience to do it, and this made my life a whole ot easier for the next couple of years (until i left, and i imagine for my replacement). Hi, I'm posting in the capacity here of an ex-data manager rather than an employee of Serco. What we did, and was agreed by the fire chief, massive school of about 2000 kids, teachers always did electronic registers, roll call and lesson by lesson. The fire stuff was checked by teachers doing a head count of the kids in the class they were currently in. When they got to their meeting point (different for each building) they did another one. Teachers were expected to know who'd gone to the toilet etc and add them onto the expected numbers for when they got to the meeting points. What this didn't cater for is if anyone happened to be skiving and between classes etc, but then neither would paper registers as the kids would still be missing. The other bit of failsafe we had is a report on pda's that could be run live, which would give us total numbers in each year, or block or whatever at the time, and that could be checked if felt necessary by totaling the head counts from staff. That's because we had wifi covering all hotspots though. There was also atleast two people in each meeting point with 2 way radios, and people manning the main routes (outside) to these points with 2 ways aswell. They helped a lot. Bear in mind if you're printing reports off and sticking them in a box, or sending them to a 'safe' printer the data protection related to printing off who's in and who's not and sending it somewhere to leave it there. I believe now, a document, if it has to be kept for legalities, in most cases (surely in this case) an electronic copy is perfectly acceptable. Also, whatever you're printing, don't forget you also need to be shredding unless you're choosing to keep it securly. Just a few ideas there, but each fire plan needs to be tailored to the place really. Sticking a in too cos i'm feeling a little mischievous.

To be honest Mr. Ben i don't charge far off what you do - but it depends who you're doing it for. For example, one of the people i do a fair bit of work for is the publicity manager at a large club, and still dj's at two others, and has shares in a fourth, so whenever i go out with my friends, we're on the guest list like me + 10 and no one pays. I get drinks bought all night for saving them the money and i get a free night out. It's things like that which will make the difference to pottering around doing odd jobs for people, i find, rather than the bits of money coming in. Do be careful though, if you're making any kind of money on the side, it *has* to be declared, and they even make you declare freebies for things like free club entry, as 'payment in kind'. Also remember word of mouth is a good way to go - 2 of the clubs in question now soley use me as their IT bod, but i also do some of their cabling etc aswell for the sound and lighting rigs. And that's just one example, i've also got a plumber, a corgi man, a plasterer... pick and choose who you help if you haven't got time to do them all, and swing it your way. Just make sure legal, you don't want tripping up for a massive tax bill that's acrued over 5 years and now you have to pay *insertrandominsanefigure*.
