Just tested it and it's pretty cool. In fact, it suggests quite sensible routes! They've got a few off-road routes near me, and they don't appear to have lifted them from OpenStreetMaps (I know because I added some myself!)

I look at this site: Jetstream Forecast - Jetstream Map Updated Four Times Daily - Netweather.tv As a rule of thumb, if you're underneath the jetstream, it's wet and windy. We've had Iceland's summer, and northern Europe has had our summer (poor blighters). According to the animation, we might be in for a for a calm spell this weekend, but next week's not looking too rosy.

I hate the car ads... the one's where either: 1. People whizz along empty brightly lit streets at night with NO TRAFFIC, then park right outside the nightclub they wanted to go to. As if. 2. People drive through sunny forests with NO TRAFFIC, then park on the beach and whip out their surf boards. As if. 3. Yes, the Paul Mckenna book is excellent. It really works. I saw it in a charity shop for 99p so I bought it out of curiosity. I lost a stone without effort with this method. 'Only' a stone, as I'm at a healthy weight and very active. The best part is that it's not a diet.

Did anyone see the series The Men Who Made Us Fat? It's still on iplayer, and well worth a watch. Also, you could do some research on The French Paradox. In a nutshell, the French eat far more saturated fat, but suffer far less heart disease and have less of an obesity problem. The latest theory behind this is reasonably simple - they eat good quality food (instead of large quantities of poor quality food), they don't eat on 'auto-pilot' in front of the telly, they don't bolt their food thus short-circuiting the "I'm full" signals, and they eat much smaller portions. The UK's clean plate, 'eat up all your food' maxim really has a lot to answer for.

I've got a van, too. Likewise, I don't care much about vehicles - I take a very functional view of them. Picked up a Kangoo a couple of years ago for the modest sum of £800. Still going strong. Handy old things, vans. I too have a two kayaks plus mountain bikes and vans are perfect for this. I've even camped in it.

As an aside, XBMC make their own live image which you can use to install to your computer. This might be an easier route if all you want is an XMBC server. XBMCUbuntu

Unity is great! Having irrefutably established that fact, let's move on to the problem. (Seriously, Unity might seem a bit new and strange, but once used to it there's no going back to the old fashioned clunky classic menus. This seems a huge step backwards to me.)

Just from the safety angle, where are your asbestos and hazardous materials logs? You need to get a full report of hazards before you drill your first hole or raise your first ceiling tile. I've had a school shut down because we drilled into the wrong pillar. It was a men-in-white-suits job. If it's a new-ish school you should be fine, but '70s schools are a nightmare. I had a letter from my old employer telling us that if anyone had been up into the ceiling void to lay cables (thankfully I didn't) then it was almost certain that we had been in direct contact with asbestos blankets. I wouldn't want the worry of that hanging over me.
