Yeah I've got this! It's fantastic fun. I played a little multi player with my brother which was good fun, think theres some nice rewards for finishing the challenges on there. I'm Smelly_Aston on Psn (I'm not on so much latley been playing alot of eve)

yeah, gt5 was crazy. You had to download a huge file before you could play. I spent about an hour and a half pacing up and down the lounge and when I moved it onto my pc desk (where my wheel is) I had to download more. It's the one thing I was really supprised about when I borrowed a mates ps3, installing games on a console. Still, games need updates and I suppose if we want them to fix the bugs we do so whine about we have to put up with the odd download now and again

Sounds like you've had some bad luck. I bought a PS3 to play GT5 and have since bought a few more games for it. I would say I'm a pretty hardcore PC gamer at heart and have been fairly impressed with the games. Got the PS Move thingy and it's a great laugh, love the table tennis and the gladiator game. There are always updates for all sorts of things, I find it strange that you are a bit peeved with it doing them being an IT person!! It makes me wonder why there are updates for the xbox?! I got a copy of LBP at the weekend and was playing it with the missus, hilarious fun and very random too. Pretty sure it's the Fry doing the voice over too

Agreed, the WIS merely adds a more social area to the game. I went to one of the EvEfests (read manfest) a couple of years ago when I played alot and they were talking alot about WIS then. We even played a very basic version of it. Everyone said the same then, no one is really bothered about walking around in a station in an internet spaceship game like eve. There are enough game altering bugs that need to be fixed before they start charging people for hats and buttons!!

Try 50/50 decaf/caf. Might be enough to stop you faceplanting your keyboard but not too much that you end up shaking On another related note. My other half gets 'squeeky eye' which I find hilarious, she looked it up on the net the other day after some nagging from me to do it and there's a few other people with it on you tube.

You need to concentrate on getting the broadband stable without worrying aobut the phone. Add the phone into the loop later. You won't have gotten a proper connection yet if it's always going on and off as the exchange won't have sync'd you properly. Do you have any of the details from the router when it's plugged into the master socket. The noise up/down, attenuation up/down and then the reported sync speed from the router and an actual bb speed from speedtest.net or something similar?

Problem is you end up double filtering and getting very little broadband signal to the router. I had an engineer out and he found a 5 year old RF filter on my line hidden in a door frame. Removing this made my broadband go from 3mb to 9mb and now I sync at 14mb. Broadband is both funny and sensitive to all sorts of things. With these intermittent problems its just a game of elimination until you work out where the problem is. Add the router to the test socket and bake for 24-48 hours and then add a phone into the mix, so on and so forth!

This is sound advice. Start with only the router and a filter in the master socket. No phones. For at least 24 hours. Monitor your speed and if possible, check the sync and noise/atten on the router page making a note of these. It is also worth noting that as your connection has been intermittent it will not be stable or at it's maximum speed for 5-10 days as the exchange sorts it's self out. Also worth trying both a couple of new filters and a new/different router.

Here's a story that might cheer you up a bit. I used to live in a shared flat with a dude who used to get really, really drunk at the weekends. He had a farily nice laptop which he used for facebook and looking at porn. He wasn't the most computer litterate person in the world but he got by. One day it wouldn't connect to the wireless and then when it did it kept dropping the signal all the time so he punched the screen right in the middle. There was a kind of fist shaped lcd bleed in the middle of the screen which was pretty funny on it's own. The next weekend I came home from work and he asked me if I could 'see if I could fix his laptop'. In a drunken rage he had bent the laptop (he was quite a big lad) in half down the middle, the opposite way you would open it!! I managed to get the hard drive out and his photos off it but the rest was scrap. I always think of bending them in half accross my knee and how releaving it would be.

One of my friends is an app developer for android and has recently got a Windows phone, he has been impressed so far. Given some time it may be more tempting than an iphone.

I'll third this, we spent a small fortune on having some signage developed, Xibo went and made it look stupid. For free! Set it up and got a nice sign running with a picture gallery, twitter and some scrolling news in about 4 hours.
