Companies like Olympic support, Maindeck support or Orange Information Systems... note the name.... yeah that's right Obviously the ideal is to get NS Optimum to warranty them as you'd hope that would be free but there are companies who will do third party support and I've found this to be really common in the commercial world but a bit of a taboo in education... For a few year's now i've struggled to come to terms with the fact i'm a geek but baring in mind I've met half the people on this website and I find myself catching up on industry gossip for no other reason than it amuses me, it's sadly true I can no longer walk among the normal folk. I may be of use if you've got general industry queries ... i.e. how long does it really take to get x y or z returned that sort of thing. Again i'm not touting for business so please don't make me stand outside... I'm ginger and I burn easily

A fair point and there will be exceptions but generally A2Z and companies of that ilk can't compete because the manufacturers don't care enough about them. It's not a level playing field and then the corners get cut.

I was saddened to see the old girl (A2Z) go having worked there for six years.. some of us jumped ship six months before she fell... that being said now I've moved on to a different company it's easy to see where it all went wrong. To be honest I can't see a reason for dealing with a small company, it seems an unnecessary risk. There's no shamless plugging here just the truth if the company trying to sell to you don't turn over 10 million minimum then they're basically a few blokes in a shed and your opening yourself up to trouble

From the other side of the fence, 95% of my education customers are buying £350-£450 machines and I'm noticing alot more people are asking about clone machines. One thing to mention is, that I've got a couple of schools that are in the top 2% exam results type list and they both buy dual core machines with 2GB. I'm not sure flocking to I3 and I5 really makes sense, are they really needed?
