  1. What OS are you planning on deploying?
  2. Make a test student account into a staff member and see if there's any difference. I have a hunch that you may have flash installed incorrectly. It should have a registry entry in HKLM\Software\Macromedia\FlashPlayer.
  3. Have you installed the latest SSL Certificate for students? Sounds like IE is detecting the SSL Certificate of Skydrive doesn't match the certificate it's receiving.
  4. Are your exclusions taking up a significant portion of your DHCP leases?
  5. Check current address leases. There might be a few bad_addresses which are sitting on an IP address but don't count within the statistics. Solution: Increase your DHCP scope.
  6. Is there a different in web filtering policies between students and admins? I've seen this a few times where an unblocked website hosts its content on a blocked web server.
  7. msconfig -> Tools -> Change UAC Settings -> Launch
  8. Try a Procmon dump. Compare both outputs with windiff. I'd be surprised if there's a difference.
  9. Have you compared the output of both process dumps? Are there any differences?
  10. Standard "Mickey Mouse" request. Startup script -> Write computer name and time to file on a fileshare. Shutdown script -> Write computer name and time to file on a fileshare. Depending on the type of data they want, you can manipulate the data in excel to produce graphs etc.
  11. Could the exe be detecting that the frame rate has dropped?
  12. Have you tried switching the mouse?
  13. Give your students 'Write' access only. Staff should never have full write permissions, modify at the most.
  14. We use a batch file, created by exporting data from our Student Administration System.
  15. So after the last deployment of our image, we've been notified that the Citations and Bibliography section (under References) is grey-ed out, unselectable, unusable. Microsoft recommends doing a full uninstall and re-install - not likely, over 1500 computers to do that too. Does someone know of another way to fix this issue?
  16. It's so much simpler to run a batch file - especially if the shutdown times need to be changed quickly.
  17. Start with a network diagram - topographical. Each data cabinet becomes a 'node' -> detail each node on a seperate page.
  18. Have you isolated this issue to just the Macs' ?
  19. I'd be more worried about the svchost.exe process taking up 100% CPU. A server CPU should never peak at 100%.
  20. If you can see which computers are accessing these sites, you'd probably find that they are your WSUS server and SOPHOS console caching updates.
  21. Also you may want to consider whether you're going to host some of the mailboxes on-premise or all in the 'cloud'.
  22. deploy.akamaitechnologies.com is used to cache a lot of authors updates.
  23. I've actually been looking at deploying PDF-X-Change. It seems to be a nice PDF reader and had a mottle of other features, namely PDF to TIF,JPG.
