  1. Our Network Manager is trying to get GSuite Hangouts/Meet working inside school We use Smoothwall and LGfL connection. He believes the problem is with LGfL, anyone else using LGfL that can let me know what needs to be done to allow the connection. Best Wishes, Paul
  2. hi, I want to have staff and students in the school seeing a different set of homepages on Google Chrome. Is this possible and any guidance on how best achieved?
  3. Report card templates are useful because you can select the subjects. The form tutor also is allocated the report card. The red ® in the register makes it really easy for staff to identify.
  4. Hi Simon, We are moving to Progresso and currently using Facility CMIS. I'm interested to know how you implemented progresso. Was it a direct change over or keeping old MIS and running progresso in a sandbox environment until you were happy/ready? I'm responsible for other IT systems in the school (Moodle VLE, Show My Homework, IRIS Behaviour management etc) and will be working with the Data Manager to manage the implemention. thanks Paul
  5. Found out today that a network technician had asked the CMIS manager for an export that included StudentID, which he presumably put into Active Directory to make moodle work without telling anyone! Apologies for wasting your time to anyone who read this
  6. We run moodle VLE 4.2 hosted in-house with OvernetData providing CMIS Integration for Moodle. We have a problem that user accounts have not been created in moodle as the StudentID field doesn't exist in Active Directory where moodle is expecting it. So when the MIS integrator on moodle looks at the data on CMIS it can't match that with any account in Active Directory because the link field in AD is missing. The students' set data can't then be brought across from CMIS into Moodle. When the accounts were created in Active Directory the studentID was not part of the data used to create those accounts. Please note the system has not changed and has worked fine in previous years. If seems that the StudentID field just appears in the correct place in Active Directory and no one seems to be able to explain how it gets there??? Is it the case that the Groupcall exporter running on CMIS writes the data to the field in AD? Does any of this make sense to anyone, any ideas? Hope I've given enough information....
  7. We had moodle with CMIS integration from WebAnyWhere. Stayed with them for a year, never really got effective support. Support calls had long periods with no updates, complained, got better support for a few weeks then slipped back to a poor standard of customer service. Moved to remote Learner for the moodle aspect and stuck with OvernetData (outstanding support and very helpful) for the CMIS integration, much happier. Maybe we were just unlucky but I feel we had too many negative experiences and would definitely not recommend WebAnyWhere.
  8. Inside School moodle pages display with the "Skip blockname" above each block. From outside the school the page always appears fine. Logically, therefore, the problem is with the proxy/firewall or browser settings. Most sites appear fine inside school. Can anyone tell me what is it that triggers these "skip blockname" links to appear above each block? Any ideas or possibilities to check greatly appreciated. Many thanks Paul
  9. SOLVED. The php build on the server needed the mbstring extension
  10. We've just started using Mahara combined with moodle, seems great but one frustration is that portfolio page sharing is not working. Gives Internal Server 500 errors. Pages can be created and submitted. Cron is running so emails notifying staff that students have submitted pages are being sent. I have also posted for help on mahara forums. (Can't paste in link because this is only my 2nd posting.) mahara.org/interaction/forum/topic.php?id=4052#post18392 Support - Share Tab works once then gives http 500 error - Mahara ePortfolio System Any ideas much appreciated. Paul
  11. We've had Fronter for 3 years. Looking to replace with either Moodle or Frog. As e-Learning Manager my personal preference is Moodle. Our Headteacher favours Frog which worked brilliantly at his previous school. We've seen demos of both and they both have really good selling points. My view is to use something open source, with a large development/support community. Education changes so reapidly you need to be able to find new features/tools and plug-in new features and functionality quickly. In essence would you agree Mahara + Moodle = Frog? I've found red pen tool which also looks good, anyone got any comments. thanks
