    WINDOWS XP

Hello..... Need some added weight to back my case...... Windows XP! Where do we stand? Schools/Colleges, how many still have XP running on networks? How many stand alone are running XP? We have a number of teacher/classroom laptops with Windows XP installed that have a Windows Vista sticker with 2 GB ram, is it worth upgrading the OS and the ram? Bite the bullet and upgrade or get rid of? A dozen machines with XP installed and not worth upgrading . What have you guys done? Thanks in advance.
  4. SSD all day,8gb ram as a minimum and i5 as standard as i3's don't cut it for me. I was looking into purchasing some laptops and i wanted a tailored spec of laptop so a supplier i used contacted the manufacturer and they would happily customize the spec.(As long as your purchasing bulk)
  5. Yep can confirm snowing in BRUM Northfield..
  6. Thanks Michael, In an ideal world but when DHCP is all over the place it will take time to tidy it up. Thanks for the advice again..
  7. Need to do some house keeping!!! Old entries and numerous amount of reserved ip addresses.
  8. It seems the phone system plus other kit has only a reservation on 1 of the 2 servers. Best practice and fail safe would be to reserve ip's on both servers? Or is it down to the individual network and setup preference?
  9. When reserving an ip address on Server A should i reserve the ip address on Server B?
  10. Afternoon all, Inherited network setup, require some advice please on best practice / preference on configuration. Overview. 2 Servers Operating System 2008 R2 on both 1 Domain When i setup new hardware at times that bit of kit has the ip address allocated and reserved. Server A has a different ip displayed range than server B When reserving an ip address on Server A should i reserve the ip address on Server B? Or should it have been setup to replicate across both? Your thoughts please....

  13. Home and power button reset. Try again. How many have you got to update?
  14. Reboot wireless controller?
  15. We used to have this issue. Proxy problem with multiple wireless updates. We temporarily used an ip address from internet/firewall provider and eventually our internet/firewall provider changed the firewall rules to accept traffic from the Apple servers. Always worked fine when hooked upto a pc/laptop. This may not be the same in your case.
  16. Via wireless or hooked up to pc/laptop?
  17. Hello and a good morning.. Need some direction with this as it's a Friday my head is all over the place... Some pointers are required for the following: 3 X Laptops. with VPN access from home etc. 2 X Sites , Site A and Site B Both sites have server 2008 R2. Have been allowed cross site access with the 3 laptops not tested yet!!! Windows 7 Pro Laptops require static ip addresses for the above. Correct me/ direct me if i'm barking up the wrong server rack. Would the users have problems accessing the internet @ home with a static ip address? I have set 1 of the laptops with a static ip address and reserved it. Testing of a static ip address @ work results in it requires DHCP to be enabled on the laptop because it will not allow access to the Internet. What am i missing here? Any ideas?
