They have the latest drivers from HP website... Michael, Not all the workstations behave in this manner, they all have the same driver... Exact message after trouble shooting has completed: The DNS server isn't responding Detected

This problem is very random with respect to when and where it happens. Server 2008 R2 Windows 7 Issue as follows: Log onto a workstation as a user or administrator. Network and sharing icon has red X through it. When the automatic Microsoft problem solver finishes trying to fix it a DNS error is displayed. Can browse network but slow to resolve other devices on the network. No internet access at all. Proxy settings are happy! My fix is to reset the network adapter using the command prompt and restart it. Why would this be happening? Any ideas please....

Something i have noticed. When viewing posts/threads while NOT logged in the time is displayed an hour ahead, it's ok when i log in though!!

Well it seems the staff need a shift out of the past and into the world of the Cloud. Sounds like staff training is required.

Bang it into the cloud as you call it, Google Apps or Office 365. We use Google apps. Not all info is stored in the cloud, word documents lesson plans etc.

Staff taking data home on memory sticks and external HDD's: Data protection. Child protection. Username and password protection. Make SLT aware of this via email stating your concerns. Staff may require a refresh on data protection etc.. Explain the reason why shared drives are shared drives and why users have home drives and why they have been setup and how they should be used. Misuse of usernames and passwords and the possible implications that this may have if ever a child protection issue was raised or inappropriate use of the internet provision. All staff should not be swapping info relating to usernames and passwords. VPN for home access? But staff would require a school bought laptop.

Some installation jobs i have seen have been shocking! I have not looked at the code of practice! I thought i would throw this out to you guys to get an idea if this is something that is being followed or should be followed.
