hi all, as the use of ict is growing so are the files, so this brings up the question of backing up files, what files on the curriculum server would be classed as a must to back up, profiles of teachers? lesson plans ? im just trying to get on top of things and this needs to be sorted, tape back up fails due to length of names used on files ,cant find files, or exceeds the limit.Primary school with over 100 staff and around 700 pupils, 300+- that have individual logons. other methods of back up would be appreciated .thanks.. how do you guys n girls do it?

toshiba satellite pro A200 . downloaded from tosh site but for some strange reason the network card driver from site is not compatible. utility would be handy also

HI all ,any utilities out there that will back up drivers ? a bunch of laptops we purchased were downgraded from vista to xp and now i cant find the correct drivers.if i can back up the drivers from one of the other laptops then jobs a gudun.Help ... .. .. .

How many ict technicians, network managers have a laptop supplied to them from the school? or do we have to spend our own hard earned dosh? reason i ask is that i have asked for a laptop in the past but i was told that i dont NEED it?

The best thing is they dont know b####r all about ict!!! we end up sorting out the mess and problems that they have caused. for more than a couple of G's on top of salary!!!!!

Curiosty i suppose but what is the primary role of an ict co-ordinator. Considering the extra pay involved.

Server 2003, xp and dozen or so of 2000 ,which maybe used as thin clients .NO VISTA!

Its not only Drinks that sit ON the machines ,its also stacks on paper and paper clips that will sit not so neatly over the ventilation holes .

Hi,i have a burning issue !! This is to do with staff well(teachers) to be honest. I have always had an issue with cups of tea,coffee or (water in flimsy plastic cups) either sitting nicely on the class computer or by the side of it. Maybe its just me being a moody so and so ,i keep complaining but they still do it.i think its a risk, is it? its seems as if it falls upon deaf ears. Whats ironic is the students have to use bottles with those safety caps on them and the ict suite has signs everywhere to remind them not to eat or drink while they are there. Just curious as to what you guys n gals think .

Hi, What procedure do you guys follow when a member of staff has the school laptop stolen from home? would it be up to the school to buy a new laptop then bill the member of staff (insurance company), or leave it up to them to go out and buy what ever they like, the person in question just said to me" i have ordered a bottom of the range toshiba a60" im thinking thanks for asking me ,im only the guy responsible for all the ict equipment and your the sports coach!!! what policy shoud be in place?

Hi, need help with an install of Hp 2015n printer, i have tried and no joy,the software that is supplied with printer is rubbish,i CAN connect to it through the browser but can't install it on the network. error cannot find printer. any ideas please.

Has anyone heard of or used this company DATASPIRE SOLUTIONS LTD.? The IT boss(the head) has some info regarding the install of thin clients. I was just wondering is it worth the money? as we are just a Primary school of 700 pupils .not clued up on this subject. will applications like knowledge box run? audio streaming? help!

When users logon thats when the printers are still visible.

Printers deleted from control panel. still visible in office.

Need some help here,the old printers that no longer exist on the network(server 2003) still appear when selecting a printer,how would i go about deleting these printers from Office 2003.

Hi,we used to have sw20's and they were getting dim despite new bulbs, inside the projectors are mirrors and lenses which get covered in film of dust, i used to service them myself (quoted £150 for service)until they got to the point when the image was dull around the outside of image projected,this was due to 1 or more of the lenses getting burnt due to the intensity of the heat generated from the lamps, unfortunately you cant buy the lenses individually you have to buy the complete unit which costs not far of the price of a new projector.
