1. Well it does appear that some people on here refuse to let others have their own opinion on things. According to my latest neg rep, "i'm an idiot" for liking these comedians. Am I also an "idiot" for not liking the same things you do? What about Religion? I'm not religious. I play rugby and dislike football - am I going to get more neg reps? Most likely... It's saddening to see that the neg reppers are so cowardly that they won't say who it is that keeps neg repping me in their flaming messages.
2. Apologies for the random accusation then.
3. You don't know what was said in the rep comment so please don't stick your nose in something that has nothing to do with you.
4. If you find those jokes offensive, certainly do not look up Doug Stanhope or "Doug Stanhope Sarah Palin" on Youtube. This is tame compared to that -Edit- Haha oh wow seems I upset someone *looks at my negative rep* Grow a back bone. I'll laugh at what I want no matter how distasteful it may be.
5. Some of you guys need to lighten up a bit. A joke is that; a joke. If I decide to laugh at a comedian joking about disabilities, rape, murder etc then I'm well within my right to laugh. Does it make me a bad person? No. Does it make me unintelligent? What do you think?
6. I cannot and it seems that the SWGFL firewall is blocking something, and rather irritatingly they are refusing to help us fix the problem unless we pay for an expensive support contract for a free service. Just brilliant! Has anyone managed to get this working? If so how? Here's a few threads on the issue: Mr.Ben - http://www.edugeek.net/forums/internet-related-filtering-firewall/85687-live-edu-single-sign-swgfl.html Mine - http://www.edugeek.net/forums/internet-related-filtering-firewall/85692-easysync-configurator-cannot-sync-network-live-edu.html Cheers Matt
7. Hi Ben Just got off the phone with SWGFL and unless we pay for a support contract with them they aren't willing to help! Have you heard anything back from the Live@Edu team? Any news from SWGFL support? Cheers -edit- I've made a further thread here in the SWGFL forum to try to get the attention of others: http://www.edugeek.net/forums/south-west-grid-learning-swgfl/86147-live-edu-anyone-got-working.html
8. I just phoned SWGFL and even though they appear to be blocking *something* they are unwilling to help unless we have a support contract with them. So it looks like we have to pay £800 or whatever it is to gain access to a free service...
9. +1 for Smoothwall and their support is excellent.
10. I know I'm too late but Hyper Coolmaster Plus coolers are excellent, silent and cost around £20. My PC was overheating @80-90 degrees but with this installed the temps went back down to a steady 25~ degrees idling and 40~ at heavy load. Well worth buying IMO, only downside is the size of the heatsink - it's huge!
11. Here's a minor update, I was wondering if port 443 was being blocked by SWGFL (it usually is), so I tried telnet to it (telnet ps.outlook.com 443) and I couldn't. I requested it to be let through SWGFL's firewall and I now can telnet to ps.outlook.com, however I still get the above connection failed message when trying to connect via EasySync or Powershell. Anyone have any ideas what's happening or any other addresses to get unblocked? Cheers Matt
12. Hi Ben Have you got any further with this? I've been off for the last few days but if I get a spare moment I'll try to ring SWGFL and get the issue resolved as I'm having similar issues too. Matt
13. Hi I'm trying to get EasySync Configurator to sync our AD with Live@Edu but I cannot get it to work. I hit "run EasySync" which tries to connect and I get this eror message: [ps.outlook.com] Connecting to remote server failed with the following error message : The client cannot connect to the destination specified in the request. Verify that the service on the destination is running and is accepting requests. Consult the logs and documentation for the WS-Management service running on the destination, most commonly IIS or WinR M. If the destination is the WinRM service, run the following command on the destination to analyze and configure the W inRM service: "winrm quickconfig". For more information, see the about_Remote_Troubleshooting Help topic. + CategoryInfo : OpenError: (System.Manageme....RemoteRunspace:RemoteRunspace) [], PSRemotingTransportExc eption + FullyQualifiedErrorId : PSSessionOpenFailed I have ran "winrm quickconfig" and still no joy. I have also tried these commands in powershell: $LiveCred = Get-Credential $Session = New-PSSession -ConfigurationName Microsoft.Exchange -ConnectionUri https://ps.outlook.com/powershell/ -Credential $LiveCred -Authentication Basic –AllowRedirection Import-PSSession $Session and I get the same error as above. As I didn't configure Live@Edu and enroll the school I'm a little unsure of what's wrong. I'm using our networks systemadmin account credentials when I type "$LiveCred = Get-Credential." Is this correct or is there another account I should be using? It is a possibility SWGFL is blocking ps.outlook.com as it needs access to port 443. Can anyone clarify this one way or the other? (We do use Smoothwall [G3] but I'm bypassing this so that shouldn't be blocking access.) Anyone encountered this error before? Any help is much appreciated Cheers!
14. 7Zip couldn't delete the files either and it errored with "The system cannot find the path specified." I mapped a drive on the server and tried using rmdir /s and still got the same error message. Oddly 7Zip is utterly confused about the size of the disks on the NAS. See attachment. I'm going to reinstall the OS on the device to see if that fixes the problem.
15. I mapped my R: Drive to \\netbackup2\pluto\student area\Year\H R:\>rmdir /s \RMUsers \RMUsers, Are you sure (Y/N)? y \RMUsers\Students\Work\Year13 - The system cannot find the path specified. \RMUsers\Students\Work\Visitors - The system cannot find the path specified. \RMUsers\Students\Work\Year10 - The system cannot find the path specified. The path is most definately correct and I've tried mapping the folder further up and still no luck I still get "The system cannot find the path specified" and the command doesn't map a drive. I'll try this now. Thanks all I really appreciate the help
16. Using the web interface to delete the folder didn't do anything. I'll retry it again later and leave it going over night. I cannot get this command to work: C:\>rmdir /s "\\netbackup2\pluto\student area\Year\H\RMUsers" \\netbackup2\pluto\student area\Year\H\RMUsers, Are you sure (Y/N)? y The system cannot find the path specified. However I can make a new folder and then delete it: C:\>mkdir "\\netbackup2\pluto\student area\Year\H\RMUsers\test1" C:\>rmdir /s "\\netbackup2\pluto\student area\Year\H\RMUsers\test1" \\netbackup2\pluto\student area\Year\H\RMUsers\test1, Are you sure (Y/N)? y Anyone have any suggestions? I did reboot the NAS and still no luck.
17. Heh I had completely forgotten I could do that I'm not confident in the web interface at all as it rarely works properly for us but |I'll give it ago. Thanks! Any other solutions are more than welcome.
18. The NAS holds 4TB in total (it's 98% full) and we have no where to copy the other 3TB of data to. Good suggestion though.
19. I need to delete around 1TB of data off of one of our ReadyNAS 2100s. Deleting all this data manually is a no go so is there any free software or scripts I can use to get rid of the data? I tried using Robocopy to delete the data but it kept throwing up (lack of) permission errors despite the account having full access to both folders and all data inside. Any advice is much appreciated. Cheers!
20. When ever this happens here I: - Install "Windows uninstaller Utility" - Find all entries of flash, active x flash etc and uninstall - Install latest flash and the problem 9/10 gets resolved Some software packages may contain flash but it's best to check your image to see whether it contains legacy versions which are causing you these issues.
21. I generally only drink stronger 5%+ beer else drinking in pubs gets way to expensive (I can drink fosters all bloody night...) Stella is my drink of choice followed by decent bottled ales (Hobgoblin, Adnams Ghostship / Broadside etc). Sadly we don't get decent draft ale where I live due to living in the same town as Palmers Brewery and the majority of their beer is meh at best.
22. Also use a site like this one to easily identify if you have the virus or not: Conficker Eye Chart
23. CPU - Intel i5 2500k (or i7 2500k if you are heavily into gaming and video editing). If you don't want to spend this much go for an AMD Phenom Black edition CPU Mobo - Any mobo around £80-£100 will do just make sure it supports whatever processor you go for GPU - ATI cards are cheaper and I think generally better for gaming, not sure if it's the same for video editing. £60-£80 will get you a reasonally good card. Memory - 8gb+ from Corsair, G-SKill, Crucial etc. Memory is dirt cheap at the moment so I would buy a lot of it! 8gb is now around £40 and around a year ago I got 16gb for £140! PSU - If your case comes with a CPU make sure it isn't a trashy value brand one. If it is value brand buy a new one from Corsair, Antec, Coolmaster etc. Around £50 will get you a decent one.
24. The issue did go away after a few hours so yes nothing to worry about. Thanks!
25. Do you just have one proxy for all users? Or do you have one for staff and one for students? If you just have one proxy, the way we have it setup is we untick the proxy settings in RMMC > User Types > Name of Custom UserType > Proxy Server Then in RMMC > Internet and Email Settings > Proxy Server enter in your proxy settings here and it'll apply the sdettings to everyone. If you have 2 proxies, I believe the UserType settings overrides the Internet and Email Settings > Proxy Server settings so you could then manually enter the 2nd proxy into the required UserTypes. Please Please test this just in case I am wrong about UserType settings overriding other settings as I refuse to be held responsible for other peoples lack of planning and testing! Let us know how you get on
