1. We're using that and have been since it was previously Visigo. While it isn't cheap, we find it an excellent tool to manage safeguarding. While other tools like Impero, etc can capture stuff, it requires too much work for someone to sit and filter through all the captures, due to the amount of false positives. Monitor is much better, as you say, it's graded by a human. We also did once have a council provided service that did the same thing, human grading of captures, but their consistency for grading them was terrible. Monitor is at least consistent. Also, if you have a super serious capture, like self harm, they'll call and to warn you straight away, so you can act on it. We also have it deployed on student laptops that they take home. This has caught some particularly high level captures that we'd have otherwise missed.
2. Eternals. I really liked it and not sure why it was relatively poorly received by critics. It felt like a Marvel movie, but also didn't. It was much more character driven than previous Marvel films imo.
3. If it's a regular mailbox, I believe it's 90 days before it's removed. However, if you convert it to a shared mailbox upon their account deactivation date, it will stay indefinitely. We still have archived mailboxes dating to 2016, when we switched to Office 365.

Windows 11

I upgraded my home machine to Windows 11 last week. It's been on 24/7 with no issues, though I haven't actually used it that much in that time. It's a relatively modern and powerful machine though (9th gen i7).
6. I'm currently on a temporary secondment at another school providing technical support and they had a parent's evening last night. They were using SchoolCloud, which was my first experience with it. For the most part, it went without issues. We just had one pupil who couldn't see his bookings, so they were rebooked and it worked. I think if an online parent's evening system is something my head wants to look at, SchoolCloud would be near the top of the list.
7. We're with e4education, though like others, we weren't involved in the process. They mainly offer sites from a handful of templates from what I remember and you purchase more 'rows' of content (or something along those lines).
8. One of my CPD targets for this year is to evaluate Windows 11. We have no intention of deploying it in the 2021-2022 academic year, but just to give us some idea of what we can expect, in terms of supported hardware, missing features, things that will need locking down, etc.
9. Check your time zone. I once forgot to specify the London time zone in my MECM TS and it was on the default of Pacific Time. The computer was getting the right time, just adjusting it to PST based on the OS setting.
10. Does the same happen in both the app and browser versions of Teams? When we have issues with one, the quickest solution is to usually switch to the other.
11. Dune I saw Dune at the weekend and really liked it. I've not read the books or seen the 80's film, so the only expectations I had for it were from the trailers and the hype around it. I really enjoyed it and I wouldn't mind seeing it again. Very much looking forward to part two. Last Night in Soho Saw this last night and really liked it. I thought it was going to be more horrory and violent, given it's 18 rating...which I was kind of dreading because I hate jump scare films. But this wasn't that bad in those aspects. Good use of music, as to be expected from Edgar Wright and some really good performances. One thing that did grate on me, was the lead's very childish voice. Once I associated that, I couldn't unhear it.
12. I can't check my config atm, but try it the other way. Block spellcheck globally then add just the students you want to enable it for into the group. I think that's how I have mine configured.
13. It you are on a OVS-ES type agreement, you will have issues licensing Office 365 ProPlus on shared devices. OVS-ES is only available (and the only option) for schools with <1000 users. If your school has >1000 users, you will be on the EES agreement, which allows for Device Based Licensing (DBL), which will activate Office for multiple users on shared devices. Microsoft's official stance is that if you don't quality for EES, then you have to stick to using Office Professional Plus.
14. I've just tried that this morning, but unfortunately I'm getting the Windows Installer dialogue box appearing, showing me the available command line switches. I presume this is because it doesn't like the variables passed through. I've manually typed it into the copy of the batch file I took and I've also copied and pasted your command line above, both do the same thing.
15. Yeah, sadly to no avail. I've tried multiple variations for the public parameters, but I haven't found the right ones yet (if they even exist).
16. Stupid mistake is stupid. It doesn't like UNC paths for the AppData, Inbox and Outbox locations. You need to use the mapped drive path. Still not figured out the command line configuration yet though. Update: The only way I can get it pre-configured, is to configure it myself manually on one machine and copy the "jcq.a2c.client.gui.exe.config" file to the client using xcopy in the batch file. I'd prefer not to use a batch file and just deploy the MSI with command line switches, but this may be the best option. I've emailed A2C anyway and asked the question.
17. Sadly not, though I'm not having as many reports of the issue. Though that could be from users using Edge instead.
18. Our exams officer has asked me to look at installing the latest version of A2C that was released this week (1.3.2.373eba39). I'm trying to make life easier in the future and get it configured during the install stage, but I'm not able to figure out if it's possible to configure the installer via switches. The A2C documentation is near useless in this regard (from what I've found). When the setup (MSI) runs, it prompts you for three things (not required though). Configurable AppData location, Inbox location and Outbox location. We do use a remote location for the application's AppData. I'd like the AppData, Inbox and Outbox to be configured during a command line install if possible. I've just installing and replacing the "jcq.a2c.client.gui.exe.config" file with one configured manually via the installer, but I get a database cannot be found error when loading the application when I launch it when using that file. I've also had an issue when I attempt to launch A2C with this configuration, it complains with an error: Edit: I've narrowed down to there being an issue when I specify a remote AppData location. If I install with local AppData and point it to the Inbox and Outbox on our MIS server, the following files and folders are created in "%appdata%\A2C Migration Application": AwardingBodies (Folder) FileTypes (Folder) LOCK (File) log.db (File) User.Setting (File) However, only the following files are created when I specify the remote AppData location during the installer to: "\\misserver\AdminData$\Sims\Exams\A2C Transport Application\AppData" (and there's no folder created in local %AppData%): Exceptions.txt (File) LOCK (File) User.Settings (File) Presumably because the database file isn't in the AppData folder when configured remotely, when it is locally. Though looking at the configuration of the old version of the application, also with a remote AppData in a separate location, that also doesn't have the database file. So there's some inconsistency that I haven't yet pinned down. I don't know if it's something I'm missing, or an issue with the A2C application itself.
19. Ah, I see. Good job I didn't just delete them! I've used WinDirStatDD to break down the files too and I'm seeing that our media guy has some 300GB+ of videos that we can store on SharePoint instead of locally. Plus a load of other videos, like BTEC Sport evidence. I need to liase with the PE department to move the older files to SharePoint too (we also have these all backed up in our EoY backups too), so the data is never gone.
20. So to update this, over the weekend I ran the following command: Start-DedupJob -type GarbageCollection -Volume E: -Full It cleaned up about 80GB, but I'm still using 1.8TB in the chunk store, with many files dating back to 2015 (when the server was created). How do I remove these?
21. I don't understand why I still have files dated 2015, 2016, 2017, etc...when the scheduled job to perform that task is running successfully every week.
22. I thought dedupe was part of how VSS works? VSS and dedupe are things I don't have much experience in! Is dedupe something that's normally enabled on a file share, such as home and shared folders? If so, why is this causing me a problem? Edit: Looking at the Task Scheduler on the server, under Task Scheduler Library > Microsoft > Windows > Deduplication, I can see three tasks: BackgroundOptimization WeeklyGarbageCollection WeeklyScrubbing BackroundOptimization is scheduled hourly and the other two are scheduled weekly. They all ran sucessfully on their last run apparently (14:45 today, and last Saturday respectively). Edit 2: Just ran these commands: PS C:\WINDOWS\system32> Get-DedupStatus FreeSpace SavedSpace OptimizedFiles InPolicyFiles Volume --------- ---------- -------------- ------------- ------ 119.06 GB 1.92 TB 1121528 1121458 E: PS C:\WINDOWS\system32> Get-DedupVolume Enabled UsageType SavedSpace SavingsRate Volume ------- --------- ---------- ----------- ------ True Default 1.92 TB 50 % E: So does that mean if dedupe is disabled, I'd need an extra 1.92TB attached to the E: drive to accomodate that space?
23. I'm just seeing a bunch of these files in TreeSize: They're not linked to existing VSS snapshots according to VSS. How can I delete them? Can I litterally just delete them from within TreeSize, or do I have to use VSS commands? I'm not actually sure VSS will remove them if I disable, since it doesn't appear to know about them.

25. We've been slowly eating away at our staff file server's data drive and I'm perplexed as to why. At first, I thought someone had dumped their removable drive as a backup, or duplicated a large folder to the home drive. I also deleted the archived home folders of staff who left, since they're backed up to our long term storage. This was about 300GB and after deleting it, I saw no dent in the used space. This led me to question VSS, but looking at it, it's currently only using 33GB of space (presumably because the drive is >90% full). I used Tree Size (run as Administrator) and I'm confused by it's readings. It says that the E:\ drive is size 5.9TB with 1.9TB allocated. It's a 2TB drive within Vmware, so I don't understand how it's reporting 6TB. Expanding the folders leads me to 1.8TB in E:\System Volume Information\Dedup. Research suggests this is where the VSS copies live - but looking at the files, a lot of them are super old, dating as far back as 2015! I believe this is where our space is being consumed - all these old files that haven't been deleted. My question is - how do I delete these files? Is it possible to clean up these files without breaking the current snapshots?
