Hopefully over half term I can start building up a servers in 12 r2. I want to start upgrading our old 2008r2 DCs (ad, dhcp, dns) to 12 r2. Is there an idiots guide or rookie advice people you can give.

Sorry to drag these up. I had to replace the psu in a computer last week. Tested in my office before I put it back. Worked fine. Took it back to the classroom and it refused to start. (Power light was on but flicked every 5 secs) Unplugged it from the extension lead and plugged it in to the mains and it powered up. And been fine since....

No errors in AD Replication. (by using repadmin /showrepl * /csv > replsd.csv and then looking the file) I think its GPO related that its picked up a newer file and its throwing it out...

We haven't added any dcs for over a year now, we got 6 DC servers with 2008R2 and 1 with 2012 (non R2) All servers are running at 2008r2 level.

This is hit and miss... if the computer gets restarted it works fine. The computer can be on for ages and still not apply GPO. I did RSOP on a computer when a pupil logged on and got this.. (kids dont have access to cmd)

Ive already done this already. It was the first thing me and nm thought of.

RSOP : Just errors out. I can ping servers and get nslookup fine from the computer. As soon as i restart the computer it will behave... I cant ping it on a dc playing up as it doing this on other login servers.

Could this be the start of dns problems? Just looked in to the classroom to see a few computers with the "admin" look desktop. Looked at the envent log and got these. Im getting the same error above but with differnent servers. Any help. Its not happening all the time but it effects the users

Our main printer server is 2008 R2, we have a mac server which deals with our macs in our music department. Also a lot of the printers are on different VLANs. So from guessing: if we install papercut as a secondary server and point it at our windows box. and share the printers from the mac server aswell we should work for the ipads? (also on a different VLAN)

Has anyone had any luck with getting iPads to print though papercut? I'm just in the process of setting up webprint and thought about the iPads

I got both units that have gone the same way. About a week apart.... (all 3 laptops are now doing the same thing) I did a bios update once it was charged and still no change. Guessing the mainboard is die'ing slowly or charger about to give up.

Sorry to drag a 2 year old post up, I got a 3 hp 620 that are refusing to charge. All doing this about the same time. I've ordered a replacement charger from amazon but till waiting for this to turn up. There no light on the side of the units when the lead is plugged in. 1 user told me he has to let his laptop die and then it will start charging the battery and be fine until the next unplugged. I'm currently looking for a bios update but dont want to do this on battery power... There are running a clean image of windows 7 ent. Any ideas?

Gonna get slated for this. We got a 6tb (2x3tb) buffalo link station and it works well. (Raid 1) (We also have 2x terastation pro and normal terastation) these are around 7 year old (I think) and I've only had to replace 2 discs in the 4 years I been here.

Dated changed about a week ago, Now get the keys on the 3rd and moving in on the 5th, Booked 5 days off. (4 days Holiday and 1 moving day) Van booked for few days Found out about sky broadband. We have to pay extra as there no sky equipment in the area. But there will be no charge to leave sky talk and BB due to that. Cant do much else as the address isnt fully registered yet.

If raid 1 was mirrored then you might be lucky just to use a usb caddy to pull data off. (Did this on an old mail server which the raid card died. Not too sure about the spanned disks

depends on what you use. I also have a 120GB SSD with a 1TB Disk. Works well.

Stone SFF's here. Some with normal disks and some with Samsung SSDs. Very happy with them. Great support from stone aswell.
