  1. @fiza I was thinking the same thing last night reading this thread, however I'm wondering if I could create a different TS in MDT that doesn't format the drives and instead just upgrades the current OS? Not sure what changes other than removing the "Format ad Partition Disk (BIOS)" and "Format ad Partition Disk (UEFI)" tasks would be required. Just thinking out loud here...
  2. We had to add in our exe as a Hash rule in our Software Restrictions Policy. Our exe was easytrace.Devices.IdentityWriter.exe though.
  3. Looks like Google are rolling out some excellent security features to Chrome for Windows. See link: https://www.thurrott.com/cloud/141648/chrome-windows-can-now-recover-software-infections Good to see that our networks should have another few layers of defence shortly!
  4. Thanks guys/gals. Much appreciated.
  5. Does anyone have any advice on this?
  6. Hello, We currently have a Server 2012R2 domain running Windows 7 SP1 workstations. We are now testing Windows 10 and I've came across an issue that I no will be resolved by changing a setting in the Windows 10 1703 ADMX template for the Control Panel. Should I copy and paste all of the ADMX templates from the PolicyDefinitions file on the 1703 client to the central store or should I just copy up the ADMX template required i.e. ControlPanel.admx? What do you guys do? If I need to copy and paste all of the files, I take it that the files are backwards compatible and it won't screw up my Windows 7 clients? Thanks in advance!
  7. I'm looking at these options too. Had a rake around Edugeeks and multiple people are mentioning cPanel. Apparently it is free for schools to use. I can't find anything on their website to sign a school up though. I can only find the paid for options.
  8. @ADMaster where do you place your batch file in your build process? We use MDT 2013 here.
  9. Thank you fellow Edugeeks. I used Luke's solution (just because it was the first I came too) and it now works! My original script mustn't have been compatible with this way of deployment (it worked when manually running it). Thanks again as I've spent hours trying to sort this!
  10. I'm having a bit of a nightmare here trying to remove the AppxProvisioned apps (XBox etc) from our Windows 10 builds. I've a PS script that when run manually, successfully removes all of the crap from the OS however when I add the same script to a MDT 2013 Task Sequence the script fails to run. Does anyone deploy Win10 using solely MDT 2013? If so, would you be willing to share what commands you are using in the task sequence as well as where in the task sequence you are placing the commands? I've tried all sorts to get this working however my current attempt is the following: Under "State Restore" >>> "Custom Tasks" I have two separate "Run Command Line" tasks. The first specifies the following command powershell.exe -command "Set-ExecutionPolicy Bypass" The second task is a "Run Command Line" task with the following command powershell.exe -file "%SCRIPTROOT%\Script.ps1" I'm trying to use this on a 1703 64 bit build. How are you guys achieving this?
  11. Hello, We've noticed that our Infinity+ software freezes everyday between 12:27 and 12:31 causing the tills and cashloaders to freeze. Has anyone else seen this occur? The details are as follows. The software runs on a 2012R2 VM that has been in place since August 2016. It's only been happening on a regular basis this term. The server task manager and resource manager look fine before, during and after the crashes. There are no errors in the event log. All services remain on during the crash. I've rebooted the server. I've doubled the amount of RAM and CPU to the server. I've checked the AV logs to see if it is running a scan or updating virus definitions. There are no scheduled tasks running. There are no events relating to this server in the VMware console. I've logged a call with AMI and they are looking into it but I'm just trying to get a bit of inspiration from yourselves to see if I'm missing something here.
  12. Hello, Just realised that I haven't had DNS scavenging turned on since we started using my new vanilla network. I have one question about this. I have a number of server VMs where they have static IPs set. Will these also be scavenged from DNS? DNS shows that they have a timestamp from within the last week. The IPV4 options on each of the servers have the "Register this connection's addresses in DNS" ticked their network adapter settings. Does this mean that they won't be scavenged. I'd prefer to ask the question now rather than find out when it's too late! By the way, DNS is running two 2012R2 Domain Controllers. The rest of my member servers are also 2012R2. Cheers, Paul
  13. I've found the answer to my first question. This can be done within the Security and Compliance Centre under Search & Investigation --> Content search. I've successfully ran a report for a message sent within Teams.
  14. I have two questions: 1) Does anyone know how you can view private chat conversations? This may be necessary if a pupil is bullying another pupil. 2) Is it possible to turn off the private chat functionality altogether. I've noticed that there is an option called "Allow users to chat privately" within the Office 265 Admin Console --> Settings --> Services & Add-ins --> MS Teams --> Messaging. Weirdly this is set to On and it doesn't let you toggle the option to Off! Nice one Microsoft.
  15. I would take a look at Microsoft Teams within Office 365. They have announced MS Teams for Education which looks like it will do everything you want.
  16. I have four "Windows Malicious Software Removal Tools" waiting to be approved in WSUS. Do I just need to approve the latest one and decline the rest or should I approve them all? I suppose my question is, are these tools cumulative? Cheers, Bob
  17. This site has a framework designed specifically for schools regarding best practices for records management including retention periods. Schools Toolkit - Information and Records Management Society There's some really useful information here.

  19. I haven't taken a look yet but I've found the following resources online. Create student project groups (channels) in Microsoft Teams Moderate class discussion Post aannouncements Mute a student Mute multiple students Delete messages Delete conversation Remove students from team Remove co-teacher Delete team Create assignment Save assignment as draft View assignments across classes View assignments in class Edit assignment Delete assignment Review and post grades Review assignment
  20. Microsoft Teams for Education is now apparently live and rolling out across Education tenants. Here is some resources that I found online that may help in the rollout of this solution. https://padlet.com/pad184/Microsoft_Teams_Education_Resource_Collection
  21. Hello, Can anybody point me in the right direction to a document that states what the retention period should be for school held information relating to it's various data subjects (student, parent staff etc)? People at my school seem to think that this is 7 years after they leave school. When I ask them "where did you read this?" they don't have an answer. It seems that this may just be a given within our school however the policy may have changed. Any help would be greatly received!
  22. Hi, Does everything look good in the SSO section of the G Suite Admin Console? Below is a link to the Google help guide for the SSO section. https://support.google.com/a/answer/60224?hl=en
  23. Have you contacted Microsoft support about this? They are usually pretty good. Perhaps it's a system fault?
  24. @ICTDirect_Dave do your laptops come with new batteries? Is this an optional extra?
  25. Actually, thinking about it now, the csv's won't be as bad as I first thought as I could export the usernames out of AD using PowerShell. A bit of a faff though. It would be so much easier RMUnify spoke directly to the Schools REST API.
