Thanks for the responses. I think what confuses things even more for me is that the new Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) uses the same initials as the old Microsoft Certifed Server Administrator (MCSA). I know that the old MCSA was for server 2003 and previous. I believe this quote refers to the old MCSA? Although i am planning to do the certification for my benefit, how do you think employers view these qualifications? Will they know that the MCITP:SA is the same as the new MCSA? Or will they presume that one is better than the other.

Cheers. So do you know if I will get both of these then or is the MCSA replacing the MCITP? Gav

Hi everyone. I've been looking at doing a Microsoft Certification but I'm getting a bit confused on which one to go for. I have looked on the Microsoft Learning website where I found the following: Microsoft Certified IT Professional: Server Administrator on Windows Server 2008 MCITP (Microsoft Certified IT Professional) | Training Courses for IT Professionals Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate: Windows Server 2008 MCSA: Windows Server 2008 Certification Both of these certifications require the same exams (70-640, 70-642 and 70-646). If I just did these three exams which certification would I receive? On the certification overview diagram (Certification Overview) the MCITP is listed as Expert level but the MCSA is listed as Associate level. I hope someone can advise me on this Thanks Gav

By lab install I mean installing the software in a computer lab/suite/classroom. MSDNAA FAQs for Faculty: General Information About the Program EES is a volume licensing subscription from Microsoft for Educational Establishments.

I think Visual Basic 2010 and Expression are available with the Academic Alliance for lab installs (which is included with EES). AA has also merged with Dreamspark.

Thanks Nick, this stopped the error message i was getting. However i still can't access any of the Drives in the basic view with test student and staff accounts, i get an error that says "Error: Unauthorised Access You have attempted to access a restricted resource" and nothing shows in the extended view for these users. Any idea which settings i need to change?

Could anyone tell me how to add a staff group to HAP+ 7 so that i can assign them permissions to write to one of the drives? It's probably simple but i just can't seem to find where to do it. Thanks

A couple of basic things you could check: Did you register the ADsSecurity.dll? Are you using a computer that is on the domain? Did you enable Macros in excel? Have you tried downloading a fresh spreadsheet from the Wisesoft website? http://www.wisesoft.co.uk/software/account_management_spreadsheet/default.aspx

I think that the MS Lync cals are soon going to be included in the Core Cal pack of the Microsoft EES License agreement. So it wouldn't cost much if your already on this agreement. Microsoft updates Core CAL: Lync, Forefront, price increases come to key license

I use a transport rule in exchange 2010 for our signatures. Works well and I can include fields from AD.

You could use the windows parental controls. It lets you block websites, block applications and restrict games by age rating. Set up Parental Controls
