  1. No tries as zip as a folder and all files in the root. I'll give Samsung a ring now.
  2. Well so after 3 days of waiting in for Yodel to deliver my BD-F5100 I finally cancelled it and fetched one myself BUT there's a problem. I can't update the firmware!!! I've downloaded the 1013.1 firmware update from Samsung, put it on a USB drive but it fails to detect an update. I can play an mpeg off the drive so it's detecting the drive. I unzipped the update file to the root of the drive as per instructions but still no joy. Currently the player lists the firmware as BSP-F5100XUB-1010.1 I've also tried the online update but that also tells me I have the latest version. Can anyone help? Thanks.
  3. Cool, ordered thanks
  4. The player is a BD-F5100 and that link is for a BD-D5100, just checking that it isn't a subtle difference that means no Netflix If your mums is the BD-F5100 and it does Netflix then I'm in business EDIT A good piece of equipment if you only want a blu ray player. I had the intention of joining Netflix and joining online services. However this player only has iplayer and you tube. No facility to add extra apps so won't support Netflix or love film etc http://www.very.co.uk/samsung-bd-f5100-smart-blu-ray-player/1222703868.prd Ahhh it's the BD-F5500 that does Netflix.
  5. Does it definitely do Netflix? Amozon site says yes but the Samsung site only lists iPlayer and Love Film.
  6. Haha wow that's allot less than I was expecting for those features, do you have that model?
  7. I don't have a PS3 and Mini Cookie Monster has ruined the PS4 budget I could run to £200.
  8. Hi all, I'm sure the title says it all but I'm looking for a new Blu Ray player. I'd like one that can connect to Netflix particularly so I don't have to keep plugging my laptop into the TV. The market seems to be full of options so I'm looking for a recommendation, call me lazy At some point I'm going to get a raspberry PI and get that doing this job but I just haven't got time at the moment with Little Cookie Monster on the way Cheers all.
  9. Thought that might be the case. I might look into a freeview box as over the year I'll save over Sky anyway, are the boxes all the same like sky of are there a selection of brands with different features?
  10. I was thinking along these lines but I've got a babay on the way next month and just haven't got time to play with it at the mo. It's one for the future though
  11. So we ''think'' I'll still be able to record free channels? I think I'll watch what I've got recorded then cancel Sky and see what they ring back with Thanks peeps
  12. Hi all, I'm thinking about cancelling my Sky TV as all I watch is endless reruns of Star Trek TOS and occasional River Monsters sort of stuff I'm wondering if someone can answer a couple of questions that might have been down this path. 1. Once you cancel your Sky subscription do you loose the ability to record using Sky+, can you view programs only from then on? 2. Will I loose access to all the already recorded content on the box? Cheers all. C. Monster
  13. I found quite a good tutorial, I'm sure I would have worked most of this out myself but it helped. Draw it is https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/images/c/cd/How-to-create-posters-Draw.pdf Thanks all.
  14. I 'might' have to do another in future so I'd like to learn an app that I can use again in future. Thanks
  15. Thanks for the reply, I've got Paint.net at the moment but I'll look at GIMP if that isn't upto the task. I think Draw is what I'll have a go with, there doesn't seem to be any templates with it though so guess I'll have to go from scratch
  16. Hi all I've been given the task of creating a poster for a course that I'm doing, I've never really done any DTP work before so I'm just thinking about what app to use to get me started. I'll hopefully only be doing this once so I'm of course looking at free I've downloaded a copy of Libreoffice to play with, is this a good place to start? I'm thinking Draw looks like the app that will fit the bill. Does anyone have a better suggestion? Shallow learning curve please Thanks all C. Monster
  17. New battery in CO detector as well now and no more beeping at the mo :-)
  18. I've just discovered that the beeping was the carbon monoxide detector :-) Oh well at least all my smoke detectors have new batteries, though they do still have an occasional flashing red light on but I'll investigate that in a bit.
  19. I'm trying to work out if there is another battery somewhere. The trip is off and the no power light comes on, then I pull out the batteries and there's still a beep. I'm wondering if there is a battery in the base somewhere. As they don't beep continuously its difficult to trace the exact source.
  20. Might have to use the broom handle approach!
  21. They look clean but I could try the vacuum
  22. They say replace 2020
  23. Hi all, I'm hoping one of you can help me with an xmas nightmare I have some mains smoke alarms in my house, model Ei141 that are beeping every 40 seconds. First thought was of course battery backup which didn't work, so far I've tried. 1. Replaced batteries in both sensors with Duracell as that's what the book recommends as 'some' 9v batteries won't work. 2. Read the book and turned them off at the mains, removed battery, held reset button, replaced battery and turned back on. They're still beeping every 40 seconds even when off at the mains with no battery in (err I know) but when I turn off the mains they show a red light so I'm definitely turning off the correct breaker. Can anyone suggest anything to save me from this noisey hell over xmas? Thanks all and merry crimbo C. monster
  24. Am I right that you can have a Kindle reader app on Windows, download a book from Amazon (often cheapest) then convert with Calibre and side load onto your Nook
  25. Hmm well I think she's just after an ereader with back light now. Is the Nook locked to the Barnes and Noble store or can it use Amazon etc?
