I think we'll just buy a second unit next year but maybe a higher spec model that will support JBOD, i'm a bit dissapointed about that. We have just got a smoothwall UTM so i'll give that a try.

Oh...this was being seriously talked about as an option when we bought it So there are no expansion options for the 7110 then, if we want more storage we just buy another unit? It goes straight to the LEA proxy, all i see in the logs is Cheers.

Does anyone know if there will be a JBOD addon for the 7110 yet? Also I can't get the Phone Home service to connect either, i've definitely entered the right proxy and port I get the message below. We're on EMBC if that helps anyone. Thanks.

Citrix Licences
cookie_monster replied to cookie_monster's topic in Thin Client and Virtual Machines
I'll have to look into Installation Manager i've not read anything about it. We can't afford platinum so that's ruled out. EDIT: Installation Manager does look good but I don't see us having more than 6 Citrix boxes so i'm not sure it's worth the extra. Cheers. -

I must say that I think Bing image search is really good as well. -
Yes I was thinking the same we currently have it turned on on all XP clients with no issues but not on our 2003 servers.

Any of you running server 2008 with the Windows Firewall enabled? I'll leave it turned on on my webservers I think but i'm wondering if I should just turn it off on my DC's and file servers.

What a surprise almost everyone has a PC that will run Vista/Windows 7 now but when Vista came out very few people had the hardware to run it so why would they buy it. Ordered mine from 'ahem' (says quietly) PC World as well

I still don't think they will want a rival platform gaining ground, they control the platform when it's accessed on their device. If Palm gain a foothold they might start a decent rival service or someone else might that will take users away from i-tunes. -

Ok thanks, I think i'll look at advanced then. -
I'm sure in the past someone told me that in education if you ordered a Citrix licence that you always got the 'Enterprise' version but i've recently found out that we can buy the 'Advanced' version for less. Can anyone think of a killer feature that we'll be missing if we don't buy enterprise, i've looked through the comparison sheet and can't see anything obvious? We do use secure gateway but I think you can use that with advanced. Cheers.

@ rocknrollstar Can I just ask how you find the EZGPO software I looked into it ages ago but seem to remember some issues with it, I see it's been updated now so I might take another look.

Well that didn't last long the home version is now £70 and Pro is £180

Att those cursed with notebook trolleys. We currently don't have any notebooks connected to our network but SLT would like us to buy a notebook trolley with 15 notebooks to try. Currently we use group policy to deliver software to our connected workstations as this is not an ideal solution for wireless notebooks how do you all manage software on your notebooks. Currently I can only think of preparing one notebook with all required software and then imaging them or using something like SMS that can throttle delivery for slow connections. Anyone care to part with information on how you do it? Cheers.

There does come a point where there is no point nursing old junk in my opinion, i've been nursing a room of Celeron 600s for ages. You can use them for office but even with enough memory quite a few web sites that staff want to use kill the processor. After all the effort stripping down a linux install to get it to run ok it's still a rubbish machine. Reminds me of people driving around in Vauxhall Novas with big shiny exhausts on -

What's the battery life like on the nx6110 with them being celerons Ric? We were thinking about something like the Samsung NC10 being possibility if we went down this route as they give about 7 hours. -

We had a look at the idea the only real reason I can think of is economies of scale they just don't shift enough at the moment to drive down the price, or they're simply overpriced -
I posted the MS feature list at the top cheers though not quite such a comprehensive one. I don't think i'll need remote desktop on my netbook but i'll keep that in mind for my new desktop. The missing bitlocker is a PITA I know you can use a free product but I think that's a feature MS should include by default.

That goes for XP as well Yes I was sticking to defaults plus the default window manager. -
Yes I read the same thread on wiki. I wonder if we could get Phil Lawrence to give us the Sun oppinion

The question is. Is it worth the extra £40 for the Pro version as I won't be using it on a domain so the only other immidiate benefit is the slightly improved backup that i'm not that fond of anyway.
