What's the loophole?
-
I've heard that about the youview boxes. I've just swapped from a 1tb Sky+ HD box and the Humax is just as quick.
-
Well I'm really impressed with he Humax box so far, really slick interface and snappy to use. The only minor issue that I'm going to contact Humax about is when I go to Showcase to use on demand features it tells me I need to connect to the internet but it is. I can look in the TV guide at previous days and select a program and iPlayer fires up and plays it. I can also access it from the Freesat app on my tablet. A minor niggle but one I can live with for now

Yeh someone at work recommended them and had been impressed. Didn't like the look of their site with TBH

Anyone here with Primus broadband? Their terms and prices look Ok, I'm just a bit wary about the quality of startups as I stream quite a bit of Netflix etc Cheers all C. Monster

Samsung Galaxy S5 vs iPhone 6
cookie_monster replied to JLambert97's topic in Mobile Devices & Tablets
Definitely the S5 or other decent Android. I've had an S3 for a couple of years now, it was getting a bit slow recently so I installed CyanogenMod using the installer, it was very straight forward and now its as fast as when it was new. -
That looks interesting, a couple of questions if you don't mind 1 Does it just plug straight into the same Sky dish? 2 What's the one off payment that you refer to, just the purchase price? I'm quite interested in Freesat as out terrestrial digital has limited channels due to being a sub transmitter, I think Youview will just add a few channels to this. Thanks ETA Is this it? http://www.humaxdirect.co.uk/Direct/Prod/33e37658-a4cb-40a5-a635-05b5d255287a

Hmmm well I'll think about that, I might look into Freesat as well. You never know Sky might offer me a deal
-
How much do you pay if you don't mind me asking? Oh and is the on demand service just i-player etc?
-
That's a reason why I might look at a Freesat box, we're on a sub transmitter so only get a subset of digital channels anyway.

I'm still thinking about ditching Sky, anyone got BT Vision, is it any good?

I wonder if anyone can help with this issue. Today I opened my livemail on my Windows 7 laptop to see a load of strange random generated folder names that look like something that you would get in a Windows profile e.g. 03B78A90-9186-465F-B274-8469BBE4274E, see screen shot below. All of my other folders are there and nothing is missing. All of my laptops are fully patched only ever run as restricted users and have upto date AV, my Livemail account has a good password and I can't see any unusual activity (other than these folders), no unknown messages in sent items etc so I don't "think" my account has been hacked. The only recent update to anything related was I updated my phone to the latest release of Cyanogenmod yesterday. Any theories? Cheers. Screenshot

I do actually have a portable battery pack, just a pain to carry in my pocket etc. I also like the SD card port on the GS5. That is a very tempting price though
-
Yeh I've been taking a good look at the Nexus 5 as I like the vanilla look and updates. I'm just been swayed towards the GS5 due to the ultra low power mode, apparently it will switch to grey scale screen and no advanced features and you can get days of power from it. That could be very handy for me
-
Well thats been the source of some debate in another thread. Currently with Voda but I'm wandering around with a second phone with a 3 SIM in it as I'm interested in their higher download limits, I'd like alot or unlimited as I spend alot of time outdoors away from wifi. I can always root it and take the Samsung apps off, I'm going to try Cyanogenmod on my GS3 as well to see what its like.
-
I'm looking forward to the potential rural coverage that 800mhz should bring.
-
Arthur: LTE = 4G? I Definitely want that. Free780: I'm not that bothered about the Samsung apps as they've reduced the amount of them quite a bit compared to the GS3 Apur32: I'm looking at outright aa I'm hoping it will cost a bit less over 2 years and I havexa choice of any tarrif/network etc
-
Hi all, the title says it all. I'm planning to buy a GS5 I'd like it to be network free so it doesn't have lots of extra rubbish on. Anyone bought one for a good price? If so where did you get it? Cheers
-
I did take a look at that unfortunately that doesn't help as I don't know where I'll be working Cheers
-
This is why I've been wandering around with a second phone. The issue is that I use my phone for work and don't have a usual work area I work all over. Vodas 3g isn't great IMO but you can get a 2g signal almost anywhere, that was my concern with 3, that when there's no signal there really is no signal. Anyway not to worry, unless Voda offer me a great deal to stay I'm off. I'll just put a Voda PAYG SIM in my old phone and pop it in the glove box
-
Well it's not the speed I'm after its the rural coverage which does tend to be naff on 3g. 4g frequencies should provide better coverage hopefully.
-
Well I've been wandering around with an old 3g phone with a 3 SIM for a while now and coverage is better than I thought on 3. As someone stated when there's no coverage there really isn't any, usually with Voda you can get enough signal to get a text away in most places. I'm thinking about making the jump to 3. Just crystal ball gazing but with the longer range of the 800mhz band that I think 3 will now have access to should some of these issues start to dissappear and rural coverage start to rival Vodafone etc. Thoughts?
-
Ahh cool. Not to worry I'm ditching it anyway so I'll sort a wifi solution or not bother :-)
-
Have you known this actually happen? I've now got a SR102 hub which I believe is the latest and greatest Sky router and it's still 2.4 Ghz only
