  1. Even I don't get any beer. I'm very sad.
  2. Sorry, but none of these drivers give us the alleged functionality to the card which HP have claimed - that it is able to work with .11a wireless!
  3. Peeling the sticker off the card reveals 8188CEB8 underneath and 602640-002 as the part number. Now I'm confused and mildly irritated. All we want is something that will work in a HP 630 and allow us to see our .11a network. FFS.
  4. Those 8188CU drivers work with the card but there's no .11a functionality which is what we were promised by HP. They said the card works with .11a networks but they can't tell us where the right driver is. It's very frustrating.
  5. Foobar I think they've sent the wrong card.
  6. PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_8176&SUBSYS_169F103C&REV_01
  7. Thanks, but we've tried this and get lumbered with the wrong driver (the 8188CU) and not the one we need for the chipset on the card HP have supplied.
  8. There's a place in the game where you can shoot the giants in the head with an arrow and leg it over to a tower where they can't get in through the doorway. You can dispatch them at your leisure then but it does take some time to kill them by just prodding them with your sword.
  9. When that happens I just hack them to death and try to deal with the chaos that sometimes ensues the best way I can - either hacking to death a few more people or running away
  10. Thank you HP - your customer support representative is refusing to help us as we purchased the card separately - even though we purchased it directly from HP!?!?!? Is this Groundhog Day as we went through all this yesterday.
  11. I have one of these, purely for experimental purposes of course, and the kudos of owning one as a geek: LINK I must hasten to add that I have never used this illegally. Fun device though with drunk people at parties
  12. According to HP support in India we have the correct part number but they can't tell us where the driver is on the HP site. They keep telling us to use the 8188CE driver which is useless as it doesn't provide the .11a functionality that the 8188BC8 card has. How difficult is it to tell us where the driver is for a part they have supplied?!
  13. I know, we had to order the part from the states. I'm now thinking they've shipped the wrong bit / got their part numbers mixed up
  14. ....the first person who can find a link to the correct driver for HP Part Number 602993-001 - it's the Realtek 8188BC8 802.11a/b/g/n 2×2 WiFi and Bluetooth 3.0+HS Combo Adapter. HP India have done my head in and the RealTek website is useless.
  15. I've put stuff on Gumtree and had the same issues. There's a lot of Arthur Daly types out there.
  16. I was also thinking of using Rainmeter and RocketDock to create a desktop a bit different as well. Anyone else using / doing this in an educational environment?
  17. I like a challenge. You can come along and laugh at me when I've done it and the user's heads have exploded.
  18. Unfortunately we have a small minority of staff who will set fire to themselves in the playground if it isn't included in the image.
  19. We have some very able members of staff who will certainly use the applications / can use the applications. The point of the exercise is to offer flexibility and choice and to show that there are alternatives out there to the Microsoft offerings. I'm also toying with the idea of offering dual boot with Ubuntu as an alernative os.
  20. I'm currently creating an image for the teacher computers (each teacher has a pc connected to a projector in their classroom) and I am going to install as much additional software as I can as well as the usual Windows / MS Office combo. Here's what I've got so far: Itunes DropBox Skype Libre Office The Gimp Google SketchUp Google Earth CutePDF Mozilla Firefox Chrome Opera QuickTime RealPlayer InfraRecorder IMGBurn I'm just trying to touch all the bases and make the machines as much a teaching accessory as possible. Please can you add your applications to the thread. Your recommendations for gratis applications will be much appreciated! Thank you!
  21. The whole thing was a bit wet wasn't it?
  22. The BBC are now running the story: BBC News - Carmageddon seeks Kickstarter cash comeback Expect something self-righteous and outraged from the Daily Wail soon.
  23. One program I have used in the past and it's worked where other programs haven't on foobarred drives, is Active@ File Recovery from LSoft Technologies. It costs but it's a small price to pay if it gets your data back.
  24. Lol, how about: http://www.troll.me/images/conspiracy-keanu/omg-what-if-like-virgin-media-ddosd-themselves.jpg
  25. How much do I charge for my services? It depends on what you're looking for sweetie. Whoops, wrong forum.......
