Our SIMS Manager has found that since the summer upgrade, whenever she tries to enter the dates for the recent holiday, Sims.NET crashes, throwing all the users out. Has anyone else encountered this issue?

Thanks to Mrs. Tech_Guy, I've been roped in to helping a family friend set up an online business despite my pleas of ignorance - to be honest I'd rather spend my spare time either unconscious from too much JD or asleep... Does anyone have any recommendations? They have a domain already and a hosting company, so it's just a case of finding something they can stick their advertising copy on, product photographs, and be easily updateable. Payment is the snag though. I can set up a website easily for them but integrating secure online payments is the main issue. I've looked at some solutions online but was wondering what others have done? Many thanks.

You're right in that respect with Windows 7 - with my main Win PC at home over the course of a year it has slowed down something terrible. I did a clean install last month and it has made it perky again.

Don't laugh at me, but after initially hating Windows 8, I now quite enjoy using it. I have it on my work laptop now and it's smooth. I've also installed it on a four year old desktop and it flies. Tbh I'm impressed.

I have been asked if there is an app for networked Macs, wireless iPads and wifi connected iPhones that can take a photograph at a predetermined interval (say every 30 seconds) and then uploads the images to Flickr. I can't find anything that does this. It's for an art project by a student.

We have staff here who seem to live on the stupid things - teaching and non-teaching. Not even remotely sporty types either which is what you might expect.

The kids here are obsessed with energy drinks. We even had an enterprising student who was getting his father to buy from the local cash & carry so he could sell them in school. If people want to rot their teeth and waste their money then it's a free country.

I think Apple have made the right decision to produce a smaller version of the iPad, despite the reluctance of Steve Jobs. The price is a bit higher than I was expecting, but not signficantly so. It's going to be sold out for Christmas, there's no doubt about it. What are you views? Let the discourse begin!

We have some WinXPSP3 laptops that aren't connected to the domain but users need to have some mapped drives for things like Sims.Net. We use the managed passwords under the user accounts dialog to store their credentials. How do you set up your non-domain laptops, as we occasionally see some network connectivity errors? Usually the 'an error occurred while reconnecting Z: to....'. They connect to any network resources wirelessly here. Many thanks.
