this is nothing important, but in my opinion is annoying... when you go to forums (Any) that you frequent, and you start reading the posts,,,, you find them in order of posting... but some list the post in sequencial order, like Edugeek, which is nice because you can follow what people post and discuss... but on the other hand you have those forums that display the most recent post first!!! isn't this annoying??? so either you go to the last page and to the bottom of the page to start reading, or some sites gives you the option to click and order posts by date. what way do you prefer to read the forums???? uhm

 you must be joking! how can a socket would interfere to a mouse and Keyboard. well we have only had this issue when lovely kids happen to mess the USB ports, chuckin in objects, therefore bending the internal pins and creating a short, only until I make sure the pins are straight or those usb ports disconnected, then the mouse and keyboard will work again, this is because they share the COM resources .

has anyone installed the printer HP LaserJet 2600n on a Windows Server 2008? because each time I try , it brings an error and the printer spooler stops so have to restart spooler. I tried the general XP driver, the 2003 driver and also the vista driver, same result.

when someone refers to "'few' AVI's downloaded " what sort of videos would you think we are talking about in here...? if you search through the forums you will see that advice for any activity which would be considered dubious regarding legality is not encouraged within edugeek.

I would suggest you try and get information from somewhere else , that sort of topic is not discussed in here, Moderators might rise this to you.

using XP of course users (members of Staff) are not allowed to run EXEs and also we got restrictions to control panel components, that is why when you walk in half way the lesson and you need to install something it is not a good idea to log the teacher off along with closing all the applications they are on. it is just weird why only happens on some machines if they are all configured the same and under the same domain.

yes, done that, when you enter credentials, it only gives you those two fields, username and password so your only choice is doing it domain\username and password.

Hello, I have a random problem with run as, when I go to teachers pc, whom of course are logged in with their accounts, sometimes I need to launch an exe or open a Control Panel Extension, well it is there where I use the Run As and then enter the Admin account, but some machines will not allow me to do that, I select the run as, enter credentials and then got the error message about the account not being reconginzed or does not exist,,, tried with domain admins and also local admin account with the same result so only if I log in using the admin account then I can run anything no problem. I did a quick search on the net and they say something about secondary logon service must be running, (the service is running in every machine). any ideas?? Thanks

remember you must keep the folder structure, you select the MSI file in your group policy. that msi file uses the compressed .cab file and the contents from the subfolder.
-
you deploy it using GP software installation,, but first you must extract the MSI from the EXE that Microsoft provides, download the exe from the link I provided, then from the command prompt you need to run the file with the option to extract..... eg C:\fileconverter /extract:C:\folder please note that you must copy the whole folder because the msi file is only the launcher... so once you have a location that is avaiable from any machine, you only need to add the file o12conv.msi to your group policy. Regards.

I dont know of a tool that would do that, anyway you would have a loosing battle in here because of the Office 2007 wave is coming and cannot be stopped. so what I would suggest is if you instead install the Compatibility Pack from Microsoft, I had deployed it to all machines in here so anyone can open 2007 files, Link is Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 2007 File Formats Regards.

well, I can see 3.62 GB RAM on my Dell Dimension 8300 at home, but something to take in consideration is the amount of memory in your Video Card, mine its only 128 MB FX5200 so probably your video card is much more recent and got maybe 512 MB????

ok, I will suggest something we have some HP printers and I got some problems with laserjet 1200 and 1150,,,, if you send to print 6 pages the printer only prints everything in ONE page,,,, another situation with a Laserjet 4350 , when printing and excel spreadsheed, the top part (1 centimeter) was not printed (not included the obvious margins that printers cannot print) . so I found out by searching on the internet, that these and other inconsistences are because of Windows updates that corrupts the print processor from HP.. the resolution is to change the print processor, you open the printer properties, then choose advanced, and then click on "Print Processor" by default HP uses its own print processor (it starts with HP...) well you change it to lets say WinPrint and RAW as default data type. sorted. so that change got rid of my problems, it would be good for you to give it a try. Regards. Ricardo

that message appears when I use remote desktop sometimes, it happens when logged in as a domain admin account, and then using another domain admin account to do a further task, so if I use the same domain account to do all the tasks, it should be alright. regards.

I will just say to get the Seagate hard drives instead, I just had a bad experience with the 500GB Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD5000KS, they came with the Buffalo terastation and after a few months, one drive populated with bad sectors, so if you need the hard drive for constant reads and writes, avoid the Caviar SE16 or the Samsung ones.

it sounds like you will need a fresh reinstall, somehow the new motherboard has different specs hence the error,, but I though Vista was going to be HAL Independent, Am I wrong??? well that is my suggestion, fresh reinstall.

Update, it is midnight and finally got rid of it,, welll I went into my Vista boot and installed Kaspersky Internet Security , before that I uninstalled Mcafee because it did nothing. well after 2 hours scanning, Kaspersky found 2 little files, cannot remember the names, but one was a dll inside system32 folder, but another one with the extension .sys it was in a rather peculiar and unusual location (C:\WINDOWS\Installer\$PatchCache$\Managed\0CB67C9D-5E1F-4963-93D1-F1D3B78F0313) a hidden system folder!!! anyway, thanks for your suggestions, I learnt of new tools to add to our Strategic Missile Defence System....... well just to protect the Computer system..... So I went to buy a copy of Kaspersky Internet Security 3 user license that will replace my ZoneAlarm Internet Security.. ,will use it after my one month trial expires.

Hello well yesterday when I got home, switched my PC on as usual, then in XP tried to open my opera browser,, nothing happens, tried open my Firefox, nothing happens, so opened IExplorer everything looked fine, but when I did a search in Yahoo, the results were normal but all the hotlinks were pointing to completely wrong destinations, it happened I found a browser Object Helper installed on IE, DZTOOL with a nasty dll blingen.dll in system32, so moments later discovered that I could not access many security websites, could not update my ZoneAlarm, could not update my Adaware, so installed Spyboot with no joy, then Hijackthis, it found the entry for that dztool, remove it, and deleted the ofending files, restarted problem solved? nope, my antivirus had updated well the night before so I ran a full scan (6 hours!!!) nothing found, only usual cookies. so I decided to start in windows Vista (got dual boot), I used Avast and McAfee Internet Security.... nothing found..... and I ran out of time lastnight so the problem is still there.... cannot get rid of that DZTOOL and blingen.dll has anyone experienced this infection before?? uhmmm I can see a Windows Reinstallation coming soon Regards

well here at school they are using a software called School Cash Office from Tucasi they use it for any trips payments and other monies, it is not an online solution (they might have something though) it is a software that you install on your network so they include a receipt printer, you can import data from your CMIS or SIMS system. Regards
