but if he uses 2x512 then if he plans to use vista later, then he will be stuck with 1 gb maximum, I would recommend to get the machines with 2x1gb now because the prices of memory when getting older they dont decrease, but if he is tigh with budget at this moment, then one 1gb stick will do for the time being.

I dont know if its only me , but each time when I go to the forums list, I struggle to find the title of the section (eg. Windows, Mac *nix, MIS Systems....) because the titles are the same size as the description text, add the fact that you have the banners and no line breaks, I would suggest to enlarge the titles so they are more visible and (quicker to click) or try ti make them bold or even if the tables had borders. well I dont know if its possible. anyway, thank you

well I thing user profiles go along with user accounts, I dont think user accounts will exist without profiles, it is like setting a new bank account but without you giving your profile. at least in windows accounts and profiles are mutually dependent.

perfectly explained by bazuk,,, I had a similar situation, but by installing Intel software "proset" becuase this software does not loads until after user logs in, thats why I couldnt use wireless connection, but then I uninstalled this proset software and only left the drivers for the nic, and then windows took control for the wireless connections so it has an option to "connect automatically" when a wireless network is in range and because windows wireless connection manager loads at startup (before user logs in) that is the magical point!!

Blocking the websites is not problem, the problem is, the kids bring the flash .swf games in a pen drive, then they share them with their mates and so on, so what I am looking for is to get a similar way to stop specific files (like hashing) from loading, as some posts in here have cleared, there are some course work related .swf files they create, so to block all .swf files is not ideal. well I was jumping of happiness when found out about hash rules, but then because it does not work with .swf files.,, so I have been deleting the files from their home folders, but the pupils are even starting to laugh at me because they know that I cannot stop them!!! mmhh

as the previous post suggested, there is a manager from HP called HP Webadmin it is browser based and it does a scan of all the networked printers thus Print servers, so you will be able to locate your print server and start workinf from there, be aware the print server may be working but might not be compatible with your printer , I had that situation with Jetidrect 175x, I wanted to connect a laserjet 1018 to it, but It was not supported.

I have a question, what is the situation at your school about DVDs being played eg. Educational Films or Popular Movies? as we all know but are not sure about if it is prohibited to do it (not authorized). 95% of our Toner Cartridges are remanufactured (compatibles) "Xinia", so I have contacted some companies/charities and they will not take this cartridges, only originals, does any of You use remanufactured toner cartridges and if so, which company/charity does acept them and collect?, I am building up a big mountain ... adding the problem of heat generated by servers, pcs and network devices, we have a "small" problem with the heating system so some parts of the school are very hot, so you imagine the servers room, we just were allowed one portable unit but it cannot cope, temperature is around 33 degrees...

yes, you got it right, the thing in here is, we have access to the black domain servers, that is why we have RIS server on it, on the other hand white domain servers are within the councils IT department (not in school) so not possible to have full control of it...,,, we use the ris images because the machines are the same specs and model ., when I change domain I do it properly from the System tab using the button etwork ID and then going through the network wizard..., I only went to regedit because when I checked settings with ipconfig, the primary dns suffix was pointing to white domain, but the DNS suffix Search List was still pointing to black domain. You know now that you mention it, I did tried that too,, to go from the old domain to a temp workgroup and then to the new domain. would you tell me if there is a reason to do this?.

hello, I have a question if somebody has experienced this issue, here at school we usually have to separate domains with their respective network settings, lets call it black domain and white domain, we have a RIS service running from the black domain, so when we need a machine for white domain, we RIS it from white, and after , change networking settings, including DNS and WINS, but for some reason the machine somewhere keeps the original domain (white) in DNS default even that the computer was joined to black domain, I had to use regedit to force the change for the main DNS suffix search , but when I did nslookup, the default DNS server was still pointing at black domain. so the machine usually took around 10 to 15 minutes to load and would not find any user to modify permissions from the domain,..... eventually I went again into the TCP - DNS tab and used the option "append these DNS suffixes... that was the only way I could get around to fix the DNS problem, but I would like if any of you guys could explain why this happens and why is not a straight forward task (change tcp settings and domain).,,, let me tell you that 2 months ago, it was a straight forward procedure (it was enough just to use "append primary and connection specific DNS suffixes.. Hello, I have a problem, this morning when the pupils tried to use Outlook 2003 to access their Exchange accounts, they could not open it because having the next error "The Name could not be resolved. The bookmark is not valid" the same happens if I try to set an account for a member of staff when clicking on "Check name" , also when I try to refer to the Global Address List. the school where I work, 90% of the projectors ar hitachi CP-RS55, they are compact, cheap, although 1500 Lumens are somehow poor if your rooms are not dark, recently we have tried Sone VPL-ES3 they are cheap and are 2000 lumens, brighter, and they deliver a bigger projection within smaller spaces, but just recently somebody ordered a Sanyo PLC-XU74 this projector is 2500 lumens and I was very surprised for the quality and cristal clear picture, even that room had windows open but it did not affect the quality, to resume, I would advice you to choose a projector at least 2000 lumens, price and design is up to You. Hello I did something else, I uninstalled all pieces of software that I knew would use Hardware Acceleration, and uninstall drivers, then restarted and when Windows found the Video Card, I let windows to search for the driver online and it worked, now I have the options available. it is weird.

hello there I do have the latest driver pack (93.71), directX is 9.0c, in the troubleshooting tab Hardware acceleration is set to Full. uninstalling/reinstalling drivers has not worked, reinstalling directx has not worked

Greetings this is my first post in here and just wondering if somebody has experienced this problem, I tried to install a piece of software from logmein.com for Remote Administration, but after I installed it, I could not watch videos, I uninstalled the software including one video codec it was the possible responsible for this problem, but it did not solve my problem, so I went to DirectX to check settings, and the options for Directdraw, Direct3D and AGP Texture Acceleration were disabled, any ideas how to force activation of this settings? Video Card is NVidia FX 5200 128 MB Windows XP SP2 Pro
