It sounds like what you need to consider is are there other devices that can fit your requirements? Surface Pro perhaps, which runs Windows 8.1.

And unfortunately, SLT still insist these devices are to be introduced!

Because from a learning perspective the devices are very good. There are some very feature rich apps available which I have seen myself enhance learning greatly in lessons. But I would assume they are mainly targeting this market as they realise there is a fair but of money to be made!

As others have said, there are ways but they involve 3rd party apps. There is no native way to do this with an iPad. By entering into Apple's (Very tight) ecosystem you are acknowledging these challenges even if SLT do not.

This cannot be done I'm afraid. The nature of the devices are that the photos will be stored on the device itself and you can then sync them with an online storage platform (Onedrive, Dropbox etc) Or plug them into a PC and download them that way.

Its pretty straightforward. Just make sure the last thing you do is change your DHCP scopes. Also, holiday job, for sure!

Run this as a .bat and run it as a Startup (Computer) script. Scripts that run as start-up always use the local machines (Admin) privileges. Scripts that run at logon use the users privileges. Id start a machine, wait till it gets to "Starting Windows" with the Windows 7 Flag then pull the power. Start it back up and see what happens.

I worked in a school a while ago that used normal 4:3 ratio whiteboards and it worked great. You don't want to use drop screens as they move and the interactive facility wont work.

You'll have to permit traffic to the DC's IP for that VLAN. VLAN'ing doesnt look simple as I'm discovering at the moment!

We have: Staff Shared - Access only to 'Staff' security group. Admin Shared - Access to only 'Admin team' - Containing one folder called SLT which only 'SLT' has permission to view. Student Shared - 'Students' have Read / Write but not delete. 'Staff' have full perms.

I can't say for sure but I read that anything over 50 - 60 Apple devices can kill a network with Bonjour traffic unless VLAN'd off correctly. We're currently at 47 Apple devices so I am looking into VLAN's for this reason.

Yes, I think you'll need to have it installed although you don't actually have to use it. Just stick it on an IIS server if you can.

Been using MSWLogo for years now. Works ok from what I hear.

HAP is for remote access yes but there is also a small program called HAP+ Logon Tracker which is installed on every PC, run a Startup, Logon, Logoff and shutdown script which writes back to an SQL DB. Use it here to prevent more than one logon andit works great!
