Hi, Problem 1: Suddenly that script isn't working any more despite working a few days ago. I've checked RSOP and it's definitely being applied. Problem 2: What I've discovered is when a user creates a new doc in desktop, despite the student security group only having read access, the system automatically grants their individual usernames full access to the file/folder. Shouldn't the student security group with read-only permission override this?

Already done it bruv and it didn't work.

Hi, This is driving me nuts!! I've enabled folder redirection in group policy and student desktops are directed to the desktop folder in the roaming student profile, so far so good. But students are able to save docs to the desktop despite them only having read NTFS and share permissions in the profile folder. I've also made sure that 'grant exclusive rights' isn't selected under the redirection options. So they shouldn't be able to save files or folders the the roaming desktop yet they can. Does anyone have any ideas? Students have now discovered the hilarity of right clicking and creating hundreds of new docs on the desktop. Thanks all

Hi, So I have a working SCCM 2012 setup with everything deploying fine, but I realised when I set it up I forgot to enable multicast deployment via the MP. I was just going to go into the MP properties and enable it (via administration) but are there any potential issues lying within this method? Will I break the whole setup if I do it this way rather than say, uninstall and re-install the MP? I thought rather than risk it I'd ask here first, just in case anyone has done it. I guess after enabling it in the MP I'd have to enable it in the OS images too? Cheers

The issue when the TS gets to the install updates task it always fails. I don't understand why it's moaning about proxy failing when this should all be set on the SUP (right?). I also thought it was because of the Windows firewall being enabled on the client but now it's turned off by default via GPO so this shouldn't be causing issues. Nope, so given up. The UberInstaller works fine when run manually inside Windows yet I can't get it to run via SCCM or even as a startup script.

It probably won't work and I'll be resorting to GPO installation but you gotta have faith. Why oh why couldn't they make it easier for enterprise deployment?

I've never ever ever had any luck with using install.xml and the application.xml.override method. The uberinstaller was the only thing that really worked for me.

So with the AdobeUberInstaller.exe, just create a standard program package with the source files pointing to the CS4 setup files, then point to the exe in the command box?

Hi, I'm currently deploying applications like Adobe CS4 using the CLI. So for CS4 I'm using the AdobeUberInstaller.exe fired from a command prompt. Does anyone deploy this from SCCM 2012 and if so how do they go about it? Add it as a package or an application? I find this is the most confusing part of SCCM. Also I would love to deploy SolidWOrks 2013, has anyone done this via SCCM 2012 too? Thanks for your help

Hi, I desperately tried to find a thread that covers this but couldn't, so sorry for starting a new one. I'm having problems installing updates as part of my build and capture TS. I have specified the SMSMP= location as directed by the Windows-noob guides but nothing ever seems to happen. I've babysat the B+C sequence on the target machine but it never even seems to get to the install updates point, so I can't see any immediate errors. Can someone point me in the direction of the correct logs to view in order to troubleshoot this further? Also, if anyone's had s imilar problem in the past and managed to fix it, if they could let me know what they did I'd appreciate it. Thanks as always

Hi, So now I've finally managed to get my SCCM server and WSUS server to talk to each other and sync. My WSUS server is sitting as an SUP role on SCCM 2012 and all synced nicely. I'm confused at what to do next. Do I continue pointing my GPOs to the existing WSUS server address, or do I change them to point to my SCCM server? I've also read articles that suggest you shouldn't configure GPOs at all and that SCCM sort of takes care of things. Does this mean that an SCCM client needs to be pushed out to clients first or does it just happen. Once again I'm struggling to find anything conclusive and getting a bit confoosed. Ah that clears things up, thanks. Has anyone used the Dell driver CABs for D&C on their Optiplex machines? I'm just looking at a walkthrough here (albeit on SCCM 2007 and a Vista deployment). Looks really interesting but was wondering if anyone does it this way rather than downloading drivers individually?

Can I just ask a thicko question? I'm just getting to grips with SCCM and haven't had much experience of automated deployment beyond RIS. By B&C do you mean building the image on the machine manually first (including all updates and software) then running a capture task seq from SCCM? Thanks

Just wanted to say I managed to fix this after hours of re-installing and head banging. The main issue was the WSUS version errors I was receiving in my WCM.log which I couldn't get my head around because I was certain the KB updates WSUS-KB2720211-x64.exe and WSUS-KB2734608-x64.exe had been installed. The errors in my WCM log were: What I didn't realise was the WSUS it was referring to was the admin console on my SCCM 2012 server, not the WSUS server. I also applied the updates to my SCCM server and reinstalled the SUP role and bingo. So for anyone else getting these errors, try this out.

OK, determined not to give up now. I went away and had a breather and feel better about it. I'm going to put WSUS on a VM as it's dedicated server with a completely clean install of Server 2008 R2 and try that way. I'm a bit concerned our current WSUS server might be a bit worse for wear, or at least SCCM doesn't like it. I was getting all sorts of errors on my current WSUS server and it wasn't uninstalling cleanly it seemed so perhaps that was half the problem.
