1. Al on the shirt looks a lot better than that !!!
2. YAY !! Can't wait for the bath robe to be delivered !! I'm not small and skinny but I'm not XXL, so if I say either XL or XXL as not sure what XL or XXL equates to in Inches or whatever lol
3. I will have the shirt please - like stated in the post above, better the item go to a home that needs or has better use of said item Plus that shirt looks awesome !!
4. I was thinking the same ref the Very PC Website - would be good to have it similar to Apple / Dell websites as far as If it has a default config then price is X and then you can click a configure button to customize the spec and as you add / remove items etc it adjusts the price accordingly so SSD vs HDD, Extra RAM etc etc As I wanted to look at the very pc slim notebook and what else you do and wanted to get an idea on price for the different lines you do ie laptop / desktop etc but could only see a few different variations of the same desktop / laptop you do but no price
5. I know you spelt it correctly but when I say that word it sounds like Geeza / Geezer etc, London / Cockney talk lol
6. Vipre or NOD32 , possibly Avast ? @VeryPC, @CPLTD or @ICTDirect_Dave Maybe one of these can help with the moving AV Providers ?
7. @Dos_Box Also not 100% sure on how to only search or enumerate only the top level folders in vbs - would be good if I had more time with powershell Can't believe I was so close but still so far from making it work as requested, doh ! If you don't mind @kennysarmy - if @Steve21 has a chance - it would be good to know how to do this in vbscript ( I know , I know, it's an older scripting language etc ) but it is bugging me not knowing how to only search or enumerate the top level of sub directories
8. VBScript : Dim fso, folder, files, OutputFile Dim strPath, filecnt ' Create a FileSystemObject Set fso = CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject") ' Create text file to output test data Set OutputFile = fso.CreateTextFile("c:\Script\ScriptOutput.txt", True) ' Define folder we want to list files from strPath = "c:\Script\" set objFSO = createobject("Scripting.FileSystemObject") GetFolders strPath sub GetFolders(byval strDirectory) set objFolder = objFSO.GetFolder(strDirectory) for each objFolder in objFolder.SubFolders Set folder = fso.GetFolder(objFolder.Path) Set files = folder.Files ' Loop through each file filecnt = 0 For each item In files filecnt = filecnt + 1 ' Output file properties to a text file Next OutputFile.WriteLine("This Folder --> '" & folder & "' has " & filecnt & " Files") OutputFile.WriteLine GetFolders objFolder.Path next end sub wscript.echo "Script has finished running" ' Close text file OutputFile.Close Merged these 2 vbscripts together : List files from a directory http://www.mattsbits.co.uk/item-85.html Recursively enumerate sub folders in a directory : http://www.wisesoft.co.uk/scripts/vbscript_recursive_enum_folders.aspx If this does not work as you want or require then @Steve21 or possibly @Arthur may be able to assist Just need to adjust strPath near the top of the script to point to the relevant main directory so that line shows something like : strPath ="X:\main_directory\" Where X:\ Is the drive letter and the rest is any directory name / folder name where all the sub folders reside You may also want to edit the path of where the outputted text file is created / stored ( as per the below line which you only need to adjust the path between the quotes ) Set OutputFile = fso.CreateTextFile("c:\Script\ScriptOutput.txt", True)
9. SimpleIT Or SimpLITon The 2nd I being an i not an L
10. So it's still broken / not working correctly and sync center being disabled / stopped is not helping ?
11. Did just find this which is for windows 7 ( does this help at all ) - if not then may have to wait until you can book a call with either or both ( dell / ntrig ) Driver Details | Dell UK
12. What was it doing or what was happening ? Also I think its a registry edit to disable it
13. Under the Vista 32 section on downloads / drivers there is : N-Trig HID Tablet Digitizer, v.1.44, A02 (Driver) Optional 28/03/2008 1.44, A02 Previous Versions Description N-Trig Digitizer Driver / Application Bundle for Vista 32 When I changed this to windows 7 it vanishes etc - wondering if this would make any difference or is this the tool that was installed orginally that borked it ? EDIT : Just wondering if there is any info on what tool / utility that re programs / over writes that chip ( as wondering if it writes or creates a backup image of that chip before it overwrites it ) As with the Lenovo laptops there is a bios utility that runs to update the BIOS Version and that utility creates a backup of the original BIOS before it writes the new version. That being the case - may be able to get the original firmware that was on that chip and then just need to find out what utility we can use to program the original firmware back onto that chip
14. On some models for the Dell touch screen ( maybe the desktop units ) it advises to connect a USB cable from the base to the screen I know that is a daft thing but does the screen have a usb connection so as to allow you to connect a usb cable between the base unit and the screen
15. By the sounds of it - after installing that update from the dell website ( that updates or re programs the firmware for that chip ) without prompting etc, I would be very surprised if re imaging the laptop with an OS ( whether 7 or 8 etc ) is going to make any difference as I am guessing it requires that chip to be working with the correct firmware to make the touch screen work That is my guess anyway
16. I don't feel so bad / dense now but neilmac has replied above - not sure how much help that is but if you can reply with the information he is requesting he may be able to assist further without contacting the 3rd party ( will find out soon enough )
17. yep - I just had that colonel song in my head with the dah da ding ding ding ( guitar strumming )
18. Different Kernel - I was thinking of futurama , the deep south with the colonel Doh !!
19. I got it - I was just referring to the Kernal as Al
20. You able to extract or get the contents out of the exe file so as to get the image file whether iso , img or whatever file format out of the exe so you can use a tool such as winphlash / winflash or something like that to apply the firmware to this chip ? Failing that - what model of laptop is it and any idea on the make / model of this chip ? Maybe book a support call with that company (NTrigg) to see if they can provide you with the correct firmware and the relevant tool to apply it to said chip ? edit - winflash /winphlash may be the wrong utility as this is generally for updating BIOSes etc - just thought of this util first due to it being related to flashing firmware etc
21. Time to move AV Providers or book a support call with them that you will most likely need to keep chasing them for or about ?
22. Al's Secret Recipe - on how to win the PS 4 ??
23. 1. Sounds Simple.... Nope! Rollback tool can't install drivers. As in due to not running the rollback tool with admin / elevated rights ( right click run as admin or hold shift down and right click on util and run as other user and use a domain admin account ) ?? Or what error do you get or what happens when you try to run the rollback tool / util ? 2. Would using device manager and showing hidden devices etc help at all and install the driver etc through device manager wizards etc --> update or install driver --> select own driver etc etc ?? Although you do mention it being the firmware on a specific chip that does the touch screen so this will most likely not help and may need as mentioned above a flashing util such as winphlash or whatever it is called with the relevant img ( image file )
24. Plus one to that - I am guessing its the NIC Filter Driver or something along those lines as other AV Vendors have managed to bork this when they try to include firewalls etc into there filter drivers etc ? ( at least that is what I think it may be or related to )
