  1. Tried that already, no change...
  2. Anyone ever seen this error when trying to use dbattach to reattach SIMS? Connects OK, I select the MDF, then gives the error as soon as I click the Attach button : Any ideas? Permissions look OK, drive space OK, rebooted, reinstalled .Net, and so on...
  3. Just the normal default Contacts Manager
  4. Really odd error here : The contact form on our Joomla website sometimes has prepopulated fields! For example, I just tested it, then my colleague logged in elsewhere to test it and found it prepopulated with my message! Cached somehow somewhere, I guess, but how and where?
  5. Matt, can you just tell us whether Discovery Education Secondary will use Clipbank's internal appliance/external website model or is it solely a website?
  6. Quite an old one : axe_rescheek_blue on J2.5
  7. Has anyone used the Responsivizer extension to create a mobile version of their Joomla website? Despite its slightly "translated" sounding description it looks pretty fully featured for the price. Any caveats or other recommendations?
  8. For anyone using Clipbank : Do you know how/whether their recent acquisition by the Discovery Channel will affect either their pricing or their appliance/website delivery model?
  9. Sophos here too, ever since its icon was a red flash (and anyone remember the bouncing red ball?). Good product, good support, good security blog. And our staff can use it at home as part of the licence.
  10. Looking to mobilize our Joomla site. Best recommendations for an extension to do this?
  11. We're on Sophos v10.0, shown as "Recommended" in our subscription details. You may have seen this article about the large size of a forthcoming Sophos update. Question : will this affect us, or only those who've already gone to 10.2.9 or 10.3.1? And why is our current version called "Recommended" when the article refers to 10.3.1 as currently having that status?
  12. I've always liked LogMeIn but the ludicrously abrupt withdrawal of their free version isn't just annoying (and a PR own goal), it's a bit worrying about them as a business. We're moving to GoToMyPC for now.
  13. Anyone using either GoToMyPC or RemotePC? Any pros and cons for either?
  14. Ah - your screenshot shows the student view, and ours is the same. But where do you choose it from in staff view?
  15. Sorry to be dim, is Person_ID the same as the field I mentioned?
  16. Just to check : Am I right in thinking that in SIMS reporting, the "SIMS Database ID" is the first field under the CESThirdPartyFields node, simply called "ID" - and that (here at least) it's a 5 digit number?
  17. Fair enough. We tend to use AUPs throughout so that we have the flexibility to offer different services (or features of an existing service) which may or may not be more interactive and therefore need them. Not too many child/data protection issues with iPlayer! And although systems like Insight are designed to display only the appropriate data, like any other system (including our network) I think it would be rash to assume they were unhackable, so an AUP is always wise.
  18. Yes it's their own data in that sense, but they sign an AUP because they're using one of our ICT services (just like students, staff, governors, visitors etc). What if they tried to exploit that service to try and look at other childrens' data, for example? And, uh, data protection?
  19. Sounds good; I think we should stick with a physical signing as that's what all our other users do. BTW, am I right in thinking Insight passwords don't expire?
  20. Did you get parents to physically sign anything or just confirm by email?
  21. Like some others here we're just about to make this move, with some relief as you can imagine! With Gateway we had a long-winded (LEA-recommended) system whereby parents received a paper letter containing an AUP and their username; they then had to sign and return the AUP in order to receive a second letter containing their password. With the impending Insight rollout we had thought of doing something similar (albeit regarding existing Gateway users as already "signed up") but do you think this is really necessary? Or should we just roll out the full logon details to parents anyway and simply have a disclaimer (link to AUP perhaps) on the logon page? Insight is generally nicer anyway but we'd like to maximise parental goodwill (and therefore takeup) for it - we don't want to replace "Gateway pain" with "changeover pain"...
  22. Ah, right!
  23. What's with the RM Shop closing then?
  24. Do you guys have On-Access scanning turned off on your servers for performance reasons, or do you simply turn it off temporarily during crunch periods such as backups? Opinions seem to differ but the latter would seem safer. And if you do temporarily turn it off what method do you use?
  25. Monitors will both be Dell P1913S, which has VGA & DVI-D & DP. Just needed to check I could put one on DVI out and one on DP out and get a proper extended display rather than cloned?
