  1. it is a shame they have not included an 'only the organiser can chat' settings. If you want to stop students chatting the only option is: "Off: will make meeting chat read only and no one can send messages in chat including the organizer" so close.....
  2. Hello - We have now tested the 'Only owners can post messages' setting on a channel but yet students (who are 'members') can still post to Meeting Chat.. Are there any other ideas for ways to prevent students posting in Meeting Chat? Thanks
  3. Thanks just noticed you can go into the teams Individually, settings, choose ‘only owners can post messages’. Is there not a way to globally set this or powershell on all Class Teams? A guide for staff to set this never works.
  4. Oh no, what does the disable chat setting in the meeting policy actually do then?
  5. Hello, hope you’re all well. We want to disable chat for Students in class Teams meetings. There is a ‘disable chat‘ setting in the meeting policies, but does that setting get applied to the students policy, or the staff (who arrange the meeting) policy? Propagation is so slow it makes testing very tricky. Thanks
  6. Hello, has anyone got any good/bad/warnings to say about Sophos Interceptx (their Ransomware protection add-on) Our 3 year Endpoint license is up for renewal: £3.45 - Sophos Endpoint\device\3 years £5.45 - Sophos Interceptx addon\device\3 years so it isn't hugely expensive, but of course an extra cost. Any opinions on it's relevance and worth? Thanks
  7. Hello, we want students to be able to take home domain joined laptops, and log into them like they do at school. I have looked at Intune but I don't feel it is quite there yet and it would be another managment platform (rather than just AD, GPO etc). I think the easiest would be to get an always on VPN client. CISCO do 'VPN anywhere' software which we are getting prices for, but early indications are its not what we want and its going to be £££. Then Windows do an Always On VPN setup, but the process for that looks totally mental and reviews are bad. Anyone use a VPN solution like this? Thanks
  8. If I run as admin on procman.exe I get the same ‘you must be an admin’ message
  9. from my limited understanding of procman I was hoping to run as a user with the error, see some process or reg change failure and then troubleshoot. I think trying to work out from a working account will be v tricky.
  10. I have my head around this procman filtering etc but it doesn't run when logged in as a user, it requires admin rights. Right click, run as admin gives same message. The Cubase library works OK as an admin, I need to troubleshoot as a user! Thanks
  11. Thanks, installed that but the output is huge, any tips on narrowing it down to the Steinberg Library stuff?
  12. Hello, just installed Cubase Elements 10.5.2 on Win10 2004 and the Steinberg Library Manager does not open for users, it hangs with a rapidly flashing cursor. I can also replicate this trying to open a VSTsound file from one of the Library folders in C:\ProgramData\Steinberg. There is no firewall or filtering or file restrictions in place, but the users are just 'Users' rather than 'Administrators'. The Library Manager opens when logged in as an administrator. Anyone got any ideas? What does the Library Manager or its files actually try and do when opening? Thanks
  13. we have been using this for years: - edit credprovhost.dll.mui with resedit for new text - change permissions to admin modify - change ownership to admin Just testing on a Win10 2004 computer and it doesn't work, the (new version 2004) files from both EN-US and EN-GB and permissions have definitely changed, but the 'Other User' text remains after many reboots. Anyone got this working on Win10 2004? Thanks
  14. Thanks, I forgot about the timetable to outlook, that's pretty cool. do you know if the groups it creates in Office365 can be synced to onsite AD? We use some permissions based on classes and hence AD groups (Adobe licenses for Photography/Graphics students for example). do you also use Ruler to auto create new AD and 365 users once they appear in SIMS? Thanks
  15. Thanks, I spoke to ruler, £1000/yr. I’m concerned we may never use teams again after the school opens again. So 2 more Qs - is sims id a paid for license? - what is the manual process to make the created Teams live for staff as suggested by mkll?
  16. The students can unmute themselves if they want to though. That’s what MS are developing to prevent.
  17. Mmm interesting, can u send a screenshot of the relevant permission? Thanks
  18. MS are also working on a feature so teachers can mute all students and they can’t unmute themselves (which they currently can) until the teacher decides. By the time this gets sorted we will all be back in....
  19. We are finding Teams audio to be very unreliable, Mics seem to not work for one meeting, but they do for another, there seems to be no pattern to user or location but usually on MS surfaces. We are using the Teams App and if desperate uninstalling/reinstalling the app fixes it....for a bit. Any ideas would be very gratefully received
  20. Ok is ruler connect better than the sims id? I’ve just read MS now don’t offer auto team creation due to demand and even their long term vision is teachers populate their own teams! What a dumb idea. What’s the recommended procedure now for IT to create and populate the Teams?
  21. Hello, we like lots of schools are rush launching Teams, SIMS ID sync seems sensible if we are creating 100's of teaching group Teams, but for the minute we are just creating staff department groups manually (e.g. A Maths Team containing all the Maths teachers). The setup of the SIMS ID link looks fairly involved, I am tempted to leave this until SLT decide to launch Teams to students. Does the SIMS link even create teams for staff department groups?
  22. Thanks, I will try that. I have already tried /DeployType:NewComputer in the command line but that doesn't work. Do you think it is possible to format Windows when in Windows
  23. I would like to start MDT imaging from within Windows 10, so without PXE boot/WDS server. I have it working by running Litetouch.vbs with a few switches (below) but from what i've read it only will ever do a REFRESH install, leaving all the software etc installed. "\\server\deploymentshare$\Scripts\LiteTouch.vbs" /TaskSequenceID:WIN10_X64_0 /SkipTaskSequence:YES /SkipWizard:Yes /UserPassword:whatever Is there any way that I can start the task Task Sequence in Windows but also wipe the disks?
  24. On some of our older machines we have very slow logon, there is an error in the registry: "Windows - Low on Registry Space - The system has reached the maximum size allowed for the system part of the registry. Additional storage requests will be ignored." All the articles re this talk about installing User Profile Hive Cleanup (remember that!?) which now doesn't even install. We already run delprof.exe to tidy student profiles. We don't set any limits on registry in GPO. Any ideas? Thanks
  25. look at something like this site (may be better site) for how to export your own xml from a template machine: https://www.petri.com/managing-file-associations-windows-10
