  1. Hi, I've had the exact same issue today with some of my users... have you heard anything back from Microsoft or found a fix? Thanks Matt
  2. Hi Paul, I did some digging around on the internet over the weekend and found something on another website which I've given ago this morning and so far seems to have worked... On the Windows 8/8.1 machines, load up regedit and goto:- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Print\Providers\Client Side Rendering Print Provider\Servers Look under that are you'll probably see reference to the old server(s) which you can delete, you may also find references to the old print servers under a long number which can also be deleted. You may then need to go back into the Printers and Devices and delete any printers that have popped back which will hopefully then be for the last time! Good Luck! Thanks Matt
  3. I've just setup a new Print Server tonight on a new 2012 R2 setup - moving away from our old Windows 2003 print server, and now I'm also getting the multiple list of printers being added after being deleted, but they are all pointing towards the old print share name. The printers (at the moment) are assigned via a VBS startup script. Anybody any the wiser on this issue and a fix for it? We are using a Vanilla setup and PaperCut. Thanks Matt
  4. Quick update.... I think I've solved it - I forgot I had some software restriction policy's in place to stop BAT files and VBS files from running, but had put an exception in for the path to the old net logon server - the old server is still up and running for the time being which is possibly why sometimes it would map the drives if it picked up the script from that server. I'll see what happens now, but I'm confident that's the fix! Thanks Matt
  5. Hi All, Following the changes I made last night by setting up the 'Always wait for the network at computer startup and logon' I've been informed that we are STILL having the issue with the script not always running and mapping the correct network drives. ?? Thanks Matt
  6. Thanks Guys for the suggestions - the logon script is located within the NETLOGON folder, within ADUC I don't have a path to the actual logon script, I just have the actual script name e.g. staff or student. I've also just found a suggestion on one of the Microsoft Forums about setting up 'Always wait for the network at computer startup and logon' option in GPO logon script doesn't always run durring logon process
  7. Hi, I've migrated our main AD Server from 2003 to 2012R2 over the half term holidays and everything appears to be working just fine other then a intermittent issue with network scripts. I am aware of the network script delay that's been introduced with Server 201R2 / Windows 8.1 but as far as I'm aware that's only an issue if you apply the network drives/mapping/script via Group Policy, and I don't believe it to be the cause of my issue. Our logon scripts are being applied to the users from Active Directory Users and Computers settings/profile tab - the users sometimes get all the drives mapped correctly, and sometimes only get their home drive mapped with everything else missing. Sometimes a reboot will bring the missing drives back, sometimes it doesn't. This happens across a range of computers in school and has only started happening since the switch to Server 2012R2. The clients are currently Windows XP, which are soon to be updated, hence the reason for migrating the server first to 2012R2 Has anybody come across this and can point me in the right direction for things to try? All the logon scripts are Bat files, and have migrated over to the new server with no problems during the migration process. Many Thanks Matt
  8. I'm sure you probably have, but have you checked to see if there's a BIOS update?
  9. Hi All, I've been looking around and failed - does anybody know any good guides to follow to help with the creation of a new Staff Intranet site I can build using SharePoint Online that is included with Office 365 for Education. Thanks Matt
  10. Thanks eshaq786 for sharing your settings - much appreciated!
  11. Going back to this post, If anybody does have any GPO's that they've used with Windows 8 / 8.1 that they wouldn't mind pulling out a GPO Report (Pupils / Staff) and sharing them with us I'd appreciate it too... I'm about to setup a new Server 2012R2 with Windows 8.1 Enterprise clients, so if anybody can share recommended GPO settings as a starting block rather then re-inventing the wheel it would be useful. Thanks Matt
  12. So it would appear that by removing the tick from the "Use SPDY/3" setting has fixed the issue. My first full day where I haven't had to keep refreshing pages to load after the silly "This Page Cannot Be Displayed" page appears. Matt
  13. I "think" I've had another breakthrough on this... I noticed that the pages that failed to load correctly at random times would show the message when refreshed "loaded using SPDY" if I hovered over the address in the address bar. I've gone into Internet Options / Advanced / HTTP Settings and removed the tick from "Use SPDY/3" - so far so good - but I know yesterday I spoke to soon when the problem appeared to be fixed by changing a different setting! Fingers crossed this time! Matt
  14. Anything else I can try... any others had this problem and found a solution? Thanks Matt
  15. Thanks Alex, I've just installed CCleaner, ran it, restarted and unfortunately it still hasn't fixed the issue :-( It's flipping annoying! Cheers Matt
  16. Scrub all that... I did speak too soon - It's still not working!!
  17. Other browsers work OK - Firewall is no over-aggressive - and again, it just seems to be with 8.1 and IE11 I "think" I've found a bit of a pattern... and I'm just playing around now to see if it resolves the issue. I've noticed that with "Autocomplete" on for web address, the problem tends to happen as I start typing an address e.g. http://www.go then autocomplete shows up http://www.go(oogle.co.uk) in the list and I press the down arrow to select the suggestion without having to finish the whole address.... I then get the error page... if I refresh it works. I've disabled autocomplete for now so I have to type in the whole address and so far seems ok but I don't want to speak to soon. Matt
  18. Hi, I've re-set IE back to Default / Restarted / Re-Added Google as Search (and tried disabled the search provider fully) - I've made the changes to Googles DNS servers temporarily and I'm still getting the same problem. Any other suggestions ?? Cheers Matt
  19. Just to confirm... I've now only got Google setup in the search providers - I've restarted the computer and I'm still getting the issue. Any other ideas?!?! Cheers Matt
  20. Sorry... I should have added... We are using a proxy server, but the issue isn't present when using any other OS or version of Windows (with the same proxy) - and again I know home users with the same issue not using a proxy. I have this morning changed the search provider from Bling to Google and still had the issue which is why I've know resorted to putting this post online... I don't think I actually came out of IE when I made the change so I'll try then and see if it continues! Thanks Matt
  21. Hi All, I've setup Windows 8.1 (x64) on a number of new machines but I've been having some problems when using Internet Explorer 11 in both the Metro screen and Desktop Mode. I randomly get when entering the address in the address bar and pressing enter:- This page can’t be displayed •Make sure the web address Google is correct. (Or any other website name I'm trying to go to) •Look for the page with your search engine. •Refresh the page in a few minutes. Fix connection problems If I simply press F5 or the refresh Icon then the page loads up just fine - but there's no consistency in it happening, it's totally random and VERY annoying. I didn't seem to have the problem when using Windows 8.0 I've done some looking around and note others having similar issues but not found a fix... I've tried using IE11 in both the x32 and x64 bit program, and disables "Protected Mode" Any other ideas (And please don't come back with a "Just use (INSERT ALTERNATIVE BROWSER)" reply! Thanks Matt
  22. Does anybody know when a new release of SOLUS3 is due out, and what they plan to include / fix and break in it this time. I have NEVER had a successful SIMS update since moving over to Solus3 (The deployment service which was suppose to make things, easier and quicker!) - OK Solus2 wasn't great, but it worked! Did I hear at some point that plans for Solus3 were to include some sort of Solus2 backward compatibility mode, where by IF an update hadn't taken place on a workstation, and the user clicks on the SIMS icon, instead of a useful message saying Incompatible Database or some other random message, it would kick start into running the update. We are also waiting for functions like the better handling of computer system name changes.... Why some of these features were not included in the product before it was released to the public at the start I will never know! Any feedback, pre-release notes of forthcoming updates etc would be grateful! Thanks Matt
  23. Hi, We have a mobile trolley with 15 iPads and a MacBook Pro - iPads are configured with Apple Configurator. For various reasons, we want to wipe the iPads clean / factory reset and "Start from Fresh" - I've read somewhere in the past that we may have problems when trying to install previously purchased Apps bought via the VPP. Does anybody have the correct procedure for me to do this, before I go ahead and wipe them and then find out we've "lost" all the Apps we've already paid for. Thanks Matt
  24. Silly Question... but just incase... Have you updated Apple Configurator? (and maybe iTunes) - Apple released a new version of Configurator, Version 1.4 a couple of days after iOS7 was released which supports iOS7, the previous version, 1.3.1 didn't support it. Matt
  25. I too am looking for replacement Pen for this Classboard - Our pen is the same as shown in the photo on the original Post. @synaesthesia - Do you have a link to the one you purchased from Amazon, or a Brand / Part number for one you know to work with these boards. Thanks Matt
