roundedkiriatas.gif and highslide
mattpant replied to mattpant's topic in EduGeek Joomla 1.5 Package
Oh well, thanks anyway. It doesn't seem to be causing a problem other then filling up the log file. I wonder if there is a reference in one of the style sheets to this that could be taken out somewhere? Regards, Matt -

Thats what it's referring to in the error log... /templates/axe_rescheek_blue/css/highslide, with the comma at the end, no file extension. THere is nothing in that folder that even starts with highslide Thanks Matt -

Ahaha... good plan! Done that now, thanks Any thoughts on the css/highslide error? Cheers Matt -
Hi All, I've been working on a new school website using the excellent Edugeek 1.5 Package. I've checked in my error log files and I keep getting the following errors File does not exist: /templates/axe_rescheek_blue/images/roundedkiriatas.gif, and File does not exist: /templates/axe_rescheek_blue/css/highslide, I have checked the folders, and the files do not exist, however the site seems to be functioning correctly without these files. Is there a file I can modify, so that I don't keep getting these errors showing up in the log, or do these files exist anywhere for me to copy into the correct folders? Many thanks, Matt Edwards

Yes, now you mention it, I tried blocking a website the other day to stop the 6th Form wasting time playing a game, but it doesn't appear to have been blocked as they can still access it, and the site doesn't show up as red in the console like other blocked sites do when they are accessed. Glad it's not only us that are having problems. It does annoy me a little when your told on the phone that nobody else is having the problems but when you read posts on hear it's quite clear that they and have been reported to them. Matt

Hi Guys, We are now running PCE Version 3.0.0.9, after what first appeared to be all working correctly, I'm getting complaints still that the "internet" is still hanging and locking up. I even have a suite of machines that I holded off installing PCE until a fix came out that worked fine with no problems, when version 3.0.0.9 came out, I installed and now I'm getting lots of complains about the internet not working properly, very slow/hanging on these machines. I've contacted PCE and alerted them about this but we appear to be the only school, (we were told this originally when I phoned about the problem over 6 months ago!) Reading a post a little higher up it does not appear to be jsut us... Is anybody else having similar issues? Are machines are using IE7/8, we also have Sophos installed (version 9) and the PCE/PCENT files have been added to exclussion. Tested with FireFox and all is fine, unistall PCE from a test machine and all is fine in IE, reinstall PCE and start getting the issues again. Not very happy at the mo, thought we'd finally got to the bottom of it all, but seem to be in the same boat. This has been going on for far to long now. Just incase anybody posts.... the clients have definately updated to the new version, not still running the old one!! Thanks Matt

I have got a feature request with Ruckus where it will allow you to enter the proxy server (Smoothwall address) VIA the ZoneDirector and do some kind of Auto-Proxy as seen on other Managed Wireless systems so students can bring in their own notebooks like you mention, connect to the "Student" SSID and connect to the net without having to configure anything, at the moment they have to manually enter the proxy server details into Internet Options which is a little messy! Unless anybody has got any other thoughts on how it can be done now. I also beleive that to be able to do "Example 3" and generate a key per student, the students would first need to connect there netbooks up to the school network via a normal CAT5 cable plugged in before it would work. Cheers Matt

Hi Folks, Whenever a user opens up IE8 a message box appears saying "A program on your computer has corrupted your deafult search provider setting for Internet Explorer. Internet Explorer has reset this setting to your original search provder, Live Search (search.live.com). Internet Explorer will now open Search Settings, where you can change this setting or install more search providers. Then the manage Add-ons box appears higlighted on the Search Providers page. We use Mandatory Profiles which are loaded on the server. Group Policy is setup to not show the search box on the address bar, and also not allow changes to be made to the search provider and not open up the Manage Add-Ons window Anyone know how we can overcome this! I did a quick google search and it apears to be a common problem but it menioned something about modifying the Reg key at HKEY_Current_Users\%Userprofile%\Application Data But this was all related to a standalone computer and one user, we're on a network with mandatory profiles. Thanks Matt

.... or why not just see the 2D version of it that's probably playing in the next screen and then you won't have to make/wear them silly glasses or put up with the "30% Colour Loss"

Hi We have got the update patch, (We're now on Version 3 of the patch) we were one of the schools I think that was still getting the problem. So far running version 3 of the patch on the test machines, it all seems to be working OK, no locking up issues. Hopefully it won't be long now before this get's bundled up into a new version package to update all clients. Matt

Yeah, my PC World Order of Windows 7 came yesterday, backed up my machine and did a clean install of it last night without any problems at all. Installation took about 15 minutes, it seems very fast, no problems so far, no problems with Drivers, infact Windows 7 picked up EVERYTHING on the machine without having to go and download any drivers. It also has IE 8 included in the Windows Installation as there was talk that this would not be included on the installation DVD and you would have to download it from Microsoft and Install afterwards. So far so good ;-)

RUCKUS help - Guest access & the internet via Proxy
mattpant replied to jamin100's topic in Wireless Networks
Yeah, would be much better, again, I have seen a demo of a rival managed wireless system that does offer the facility of a seperate IP Range straight from the controller on Guest Networks. Hopefully Ruckus have picked up on this and will include it. I have seen somewhere on the Ruckus Forums a mention of somebody requesting the facilty to set DHCP options based on the Wireless SSID they connect to, so that should do the trick. Matt -
RUCKUS help - Guest access & the internet via Proxy
mattpant replied to jamin100's topic in Wireless Networks
Nice one, Thanks, hopefully we will see it featured in the not so distant future! It would also be nice to see it assigning Guest PCs with a totally different IP Range, whilst still allowing access to the proxy, I know with the ACLs in place it can be setup so not to see any other devices on the network, but I like the idea of not having the same IP Address Range. Cheers Matt -
RUCKUS help - Guest access & the internet via Proxy
mattpant replied to jamin100's topic in Wireless Networks
Hi Ben, Thanks for the reply, ahh I too can setup the system to access the proxy server using the guest access as you have mentioned, but I really don't want to have to configure the Proxy Settings manually, just all seems a bit messy, I know other rivals to Ruckus do have a feature which pushes out the Proxy settings when connected to the Guest Access system. I have spoken to Ruckus and they have said "We have an open feature request to auto-configure client’s browser proxy settings, but this is not yet committed for release. I will add your use case to the feature request." Hopefully one day soon we will see this feature. Cheers Matt -
RUCKUS help - Guest access & the internet via Proxy
mattpant replied to jamin100's topic in Wireless Networks
No, not yet i thought that Edugeek may hold the answer to the question first as it seems the majority of users are running the Ruckus system, I've tried the Ruckus support forums but seem to be less users on there then there are on here! Cheers Matt -

Hi, We have been getting problems with that version of PCE and Internet Explorer (in fact not just with IE8) Do you have Sophos on your machines?? I have spoken to Paul Panter about it and they are aware of the problem but we are still waiting for a fix, this has been going on since well before the summer holidays!!!! Let me know if you hear anything. Cheers Matt

RUCKUS help - Guest access & the internet via Proxy
mattpant replied to jamin100's topic in Wireless Networks
Hi "Jamin100" or anybody else that can help!!! How did you manage to do this, do you have a "Step By Step" guide? Do you have to get your clients to manually enter the Proxy server into their web browser when they connect to your Guest Access WLAN or does the internet just work going thr the Proxy once connected to the Guest VLAN without any config changes. I'm trying to get this setup for our 6th Form Students when they bring their laptops in, but Ideally without having to manually enter any settings. Thanks Matt PS> I am running the latest firmware which allows you to enter the ACLS etc -
I "think" I may have found the problem, just need to check it out on a few more machines to see if shutdowns have improved... Looking at our "Default Domain Policy" we have a setting in place to "Clear virtual memory pagefile" on shutdown... I think this is what was causing the slow shutdowns/restarts. Will keep you posted. Matt

HI David, I have got the Actuall RM Install CD for these machines if thats any good to you. Let me know if you want them. Cheers Matt

Will give that a go... They are a mix, we have Dell USFF 755 / Dell USFF 760's, Fujitsu Siemens... HP Tablets.... a real mixed bunch.

Hi, Thanks for the replies so far... again this happens on several types of machine setups, not of the same "breed" Happens on new machines with the very latest drivers installed. Yes we have the UHC Tool on the classroom machines, but not on all the machines that the problem happens on. When the machines were standalone I don't think this problem happened, so seems to point to something maybe network related... Thanks Matt

Hi, Does anybody else have this problem, this happens on most of our Networked machines, when we got to shutdown or restart a Windows XP Machines, the computer goes to shutdown but sits for quite some time on just a blue screen, like the color you get on the Windows Logon Screen with a mouse cursor showing, not the hour glass. Eventually the machine does Shutdown or Restart, but does anybody know what it might be trying to do whilst it's sitting on this screen, sometimes it takes forever. Any pointers would be great, I've looked in Event Viewer but can't find anything obvious. Thanks Matt

I tried it out anyway and it seems to be working OK. set it up as a computer startup script, but just added at the end of the script some NET START commands to kick the services back in again! Cheers Matt
