sorry could you give me more info to me that just means the theme in the display properties

we are thinking of having TS through our vle or maybe just a link on our main web site. it will be hosted on a windows 2008 server but what i want is when they login i want them to get the xp style theme along with the programs they want to be able to run. this will be over https of course what is the best way ? thanks

im ok just over 18K in a secondary school, team of 3 (im not a nm) 1400 kids look after iwb, projectors, printers ,etc RESTTING PASSWORDS and everything else for the work we do i dont feel i get paid enough would i be wrong in this

yea it starts from 10.25.8.x till 10.25.9.x on the same server but on the second server we have 10.25.10.x to 10.25.11.x their is some clients that have this range 10.25.10.x to 10.25.11.x and their are clients that get 10.25.8.x till 10.25.9.x but now on the server that has 10.25.8.x till 10.25.9.x has ran out and now its not taking any from 10.25.10.x to 10.25.11.x this is my nm idea if it was just me i would have them distro from 1 server makes life easyer i think

we have 2 dhcp servers 1 of them have ran out of ip address but our other dhcp server has 70 address free why isnt some of our clients getting the lease from the second server:confused:

i have a web site and when people want to come and ask me for support they will go to a web site and login with a support ticket and then i login to the web site and then connect to them. do you know any think that will help me

your having a laugh right ? windows 98 ok which ever that school is needs a kick up their arss. why would you if my boss said to me were going to back to win98 i'd tell him to go and do one and if he wanted windows 98 on the comps he can install it. i spoke to a women called claire who is this bsf who is the ICT Education Lead for derby. and i was asking them for an update and the respons i got was we are in the waiting process i was thinking that somthing should of happend buy now they said they havent got the tenders ready yet they still working it i mean that was like 8 months ago or some thing like that we had a meeting at derby college what load of bull it was nothing to do with a technical meeting. i thought they would of like in put on what sort of a system we think they should have. it was just figures and tupe. and i was trying to say to her "what happens if a projecter build blows how is that going to help the teacher. as would need it replacing their and then" and the respons i got was " erm erm well im not too sure but stuff like this we have put in our tender request to meet a resonable respons time" i just said look tobe honest if a teacher has to go and ring some help desk then im sorry but your going to have major problems and we all know what that leads too STRIKE

dalsoth you just made my spine shiver. this is true well almost to a degree at our school. we are always on a constent battle with laptops and keyboards and also when they pesky kids think its funny to punch the faces plates through on base units. i mean what are bsf going to do about that how are they going to manage this. i mean its not as if a teacher will open a base unit and try and fix it. i mean kids to wreck computers. they have no morals and value full stop well maybe some but not all. im doing my 70-291 exam at the min which im find a bit hard but that will not stop me

all i can say is that if and when we go over to a managed service which most of us are not going to like. i personaly think that the support that we give inside the schools today is second to none and that when do go over all of that is going to go out of the window. and i think teachers are not going to like to having to ring up to a helpdesk they want face to face. and on that note we just get box away:eek: whats that all about and then depresson will set in. i also belive that this is some money making scheme i mean its not really rocket science "let us manage your service but you need to give us xyz per year on the bases of you have to stay with us for 5 years". I really think they should be talking to the people who actually run the networks i.e us techs and network managers rather then smt or who ever we fix the computers / upgrade them install the software talk to the teachers about what new software has came out and what needs updating everything in our school we alrdy do the what was said inside that video. i think we do a dam good job as well our we only have 1 share point tech who has started about the same time as me and i've seen our vle grow better and better buy the day and we host 9 other schools on our vle and he is just one person so. WHAT is going to happen when this bsf is going to take over and our vle breaks a S**t S***M thats what then they will have egg on their face. i just feel so :mad: about bsf because i know i provide a good and im going to moved to a call center doing remote desktop support which is why i moved in the first place from my old job

i have noticed that we have been getting the DEP message every time i remote on to the server im not sure what it could be. only that we havent really done anything major with this server its just a file print server which gets heavely used and has all of our profiles on for the staff and their n drives and aload of other stuff and also anti virus in the dep list their is thing called theslinks and also windows explorer its starting to worrie me and also now i've just seen this message on one of our pupils pcs i hope this isnt some sort of virus in the system any one have problems with this before

does any one have a laser cam they are made buy a company called techsoft we are having a problem using our usb to lpt convert. but i want to know if any one has ever networked one ? via a jetdirect box also do has any school ever used a pen tablet for teachers to do marking on and to make anotations with using ms word ?

im trying to delete an image on our ris server but for some reason the folder will not delete keep saying access denied file in use i've re-started the services to see if that works but hasnt im going to restart the server to see if that fixes it but does any one know why this happens and is their a fix ?

is their a program that will let me point to a folder and then it will tell me what every single folders permissions is

im not sure if we do have a register of who staff who is in and out of the school each day. in the hols we do have to sign in and out..i know its hard covering this topic as their is so much that could happen we are having a review of the whole fire thing and im just trying to come up with some ideas. but one memeber of staff did say that it sound like a good idea i dont know i know some people may differe the only other thing is just to keep printing of reports after each lesson but thats alot of paper

well we was thinking of putting a laptop in on recption so that it would always download of all the registers at each lesson time. but the thing is if their was a fire in the server room then the data would be able to be accessed due to the fire some one said if we had an adequete fire distinqisures like they do in a data cente but one that is effective and does not cost alot...any ideas

do you know of a system where if their was a fire in a school. that a register will be printed of in a matter of seconds.
