sounds like good news im a memeber of a union and if i could i strike and im pritty sure the rest of my fellow workers would too and my boss would but deep down i'd feel i'd be letting a service down for the school but i would do it too make a point too the school as well as too the local goverment and local council and it would be awsom if ALL it support managers / any one who works on our level tech wise yea to say right we have had enuff we want more money and no bsf etc i would love too see how they would all cope. just to see the look on their face. big hype here but this country would be screwed if you think about it everything and everyone relise's on people like us to fix things and to sort their stupid problems out. we are not just like a peice of meat that gets pushed around

i just hate how the goverment can do this i know some people are for this bsf thing and i know alot of people are against this and i think the goverment and lea should rethink this bsf thing through (but who am i to say that i have no "power" lol ) but i think there is going to be alot of techs who are not going to go over to this managed service and will end up looking for other jobs. and i know i wont have egg on my face it will be them becasue their not going to have enuff people to support this and they arent going to have enough people to keep traveling around to other schools and give them support,

i've just spoken to our finance manager and said that basiclly if it doesnt help the school as in our service level then we arnt going for it and im sure they dont want to be waiting 4 hours for a 3-rd party tech to come out and try and sort a problem out and then say "i dont know what im doing i need to esculate this". not a good answer. and its not fair on people who have familes and actually like their job if i didnt then i most prob be all for it yea i got the if you want to become a TA then thats fine talk. i was think yea i will teach your kids on how to build a server..etc etc

humm....yea but surely if i did not want apart of this and say just wanted to stay where i am under the guidence of the school then they cant do anything they have no right.....the only thing i'd think the goverment / lea could do is put preasure on the school into letting me go and they cant cus they have no reason to let me go and if they tried then that would be unfair dismisal wouldn't it

yea i had to ring up the bsf team to find out where this meeting was takeing place and turned out my manager alrdy new of this when i got to this meeting im going to give them a peice of my mind im not joining anything i dont care all local goverment and the actual goverment are all W**kers

all i know and dont quote me is that if your school dont go ahead with it then your funding pull be plugged and that you wont be working for the school you will be working for your local council but im not sure about if they move you around i think thats what this meeting is for on the 12th at our school is going to be about

on the 12th of sept we are having a meeting regarding the future of IT technicians. i've spoken to aother memeber of staff and they said somthing about tupe ??? never heard of it and googled it and looks a bit complicated is their anything i should be asking. also from what i heard we are getting 4m for going ahead with this BSF

i dont know if you have heard of them but web sense is a good one and i know you can have one of their servers which sit at your site and that ties to AD

the only thing you can do is either set the staff gpo to have the home page of google but if you just wanted to stop the kids from going onto the internet net you could set an application policy on the hash value of the IE to stop opening which would stop the kids from accesing the internet at our school we use impero which is really good becuase we can turn off the internet too either the room or to the pupil them selfs. or you say give them links that only you allow very customizable

we have sophos puremessage v3.0.0 for ms exchange 2003. and i dont know if any one else has had the same problm but for some reason our admin mail box some times gets bomb barded with spam e-mails like a loop but the thing is we cant not get notifications about this becasue we need to know but i just want to know how to stop this loop as we have to keep stopping and starting the services for the server

can you ping ok via name and ip address and what about trace route what happens when you do an nslookup ?

i wanted to setup a student profile on my computer. so i copied the one we have on the network to my local drive and then created a new user and pointed it too that profile ( profile not being the problem though) so when i tired to change the ntuser.man file to a .dat i couldnt. becuase i didnt have the display file extension option enabled . now here is the problem . i have no folder options in the expoler application nothing ziltch also i've tried opening the regedit but i'm getting access denied. but i can open it if a runas an local admin. now i've check my user account domain side and thats all ok and compred it to another tec account. and i've also checked the local administrators group which im member of as well as the domain admins which is in their as well. i did some googleing and to check a wether i had this key enabled or somthing. i also did a rsop on my computer and that came back with nothing so im baffeld any one got any suggestions

lol mind over load well we have 4 sites 1 of them being the main T block and most of our switches are Hp procurve 2650s and we have a few 2524 and 1 2312 all of this fiber bonding stuff is new ( how does that work) not sure about ethernet cable if its e6 but i know we have brought cable in the past and they have been cat6e. our school is a ict spectialist and we have alot media stuff etc..sounds like alot of work and alot of problems look like the could occur what about down time ?? is it best to do it bit by bit or in the 6 weeks hols ?

i know this might sound stupid but i dont know were to start..but my manager is thinking about upgrading the network backbone cus at the moment we are only runing 1gbps across the school and our main switch which 4108gl. were would i start i mean how do i pumb up the back bone ( i know it sounds stupid but never actual know how too first time for this) would it be case of finding out what the main switch is cable of and also check the modules inside it and then check all the switchs across the board most of them are the same but if they cant cope the check to see if they can have a module or somthing ..

any one have any ideas on how to install this via either switches / batch or some other way but don't really like msi can get messy:)
