please sponsor us Morning all, Being the gluttons for punishment that us ICT Support lot are, we have all signed up to take part in Movember. For those of you that do not know what this is, it is a month long fundraiser raising money for Prostate and Testicular Cancer charities, and the rules are simple: Each Mo Bro must begin the 1st of Movember with a clean shaven face. For the entire month each Mo Bro must grow and groom a moustache. There is to be no joining of the mo to the sideburns (that’s considered a beard), there’s to be no joining of the handlebars to the chin (that’s considered a goatee) and each Mo Bro must conduct himself like a true gentleman. The challenge ends at the end on the 30th of November. As a department, we are all going to undertake this challenge and will each grow as impressive a ‘mo’ as we possibly can! Myself, Kev, Paul and Dan will all be grooming what we hope will be impressive moustaches throughout November, and whilst Hannah is at a bit of a disadvantage she will still be taking part and sporting a varying range of moustaches throughout the month. What we ask of you is simple: help us raise as much money as we possibly can! We have each set up a sponsor page, as well as a sponsor page for the team, and the links are below: Chris: Movember United Kingdom - Home Paul: Movember United Kingdom - Home Kev: Movember United Kingdom - Home Dan: Movember United Kingdom - Home Hannah: Movember United Kingdom - Home The Team: Movember United Kingdom - Get Contact list You can either donate to whichever of us is your favourite or, if you love us all equally, you can donate to the team’s fund. If you prefer to donate to us in person, then we have sponsor forms in the office so pop in and see us. We will be taking photos throughout the month to document the momentous growth that will be taking place! Please consider sponsoring us and giving whatever you can, it is all for some very good causes. More details can be found at the Movember website, Movember United Kingdom - Home

looks like they have i have just looked at the uptime and they are all on about 6 hours but that is on vrt03 i checked the storage box and it does look ok only time we took the vm off line was the other day on the 10th but had to becasue had to clean the servers but it still dont explain when eveything was ok last night and the server moved it self from vrt02 to vrt03 i have just checked on vrt02 at about 1:06:18 a critical erro faloverclustering event id 1135Cluster node 'WPVRT03' was removed from the active failover cluster membership. The Cluster service on this node may have stopped. This could also be due to the node having lost communication with other active nodes in the failover cluster. **update** this morning came in and found that the server that i moved last night (wsus) from vrt03 to vrt02 is now back on vrt03. i can see both servers in the VMM when i did the move i used the cluster manager tool hyper v yea i can see all the servers
-
strange well i did a live migration of our wsus server and it went over fine checked the cluster manager showed the server but still not showing the other servers however in virtual machine manager that tells me that it is now hostet ( being managed ) by the new server strange
-
ok well if i change this what impact is this going to have on my nas and physical server and virtual servers more importanly
-
Did some maintance last night as we have had building works so cleaning servers etc all virtual servers which are on the cluster is fine. we have 2 pysical server that host the virtual servers and is clusterd. however something that i am not to sure about is when i come to look at vrt02 i cant see my virtual servers but i can on vrt03. in my event log i have this message about quorum ?? looked at this artical Event ID 1573 and dont really say what is actually wrong but just states that you need to made make sure that it is node and disk majority (cluster Disk 1) does it matter if my witness disk is 99.1% free? and would this relate to some of the servers randomly restarting? any ideas

Disable Office 2010 Grammar & Spell Checker

Not sure where to start really but I’m just so glad that it’s over and hopefully other people can benefit from this. The fix will work on a Windows XP and Windows 7. In order to disable office 2010 I’ve applied these settingsPolicy.docx in group policy. It might be best to create an OU separate from the rest of the AD structure and have a block inheritance on it so you can test. once you have applied all of the settings, you will notice that the review ribbon bar is disabled and greyed out which is all well and good................but it still does not solve our problem, because when you type office spell checker will still come up with the red line underneath the error. so after poking around and looking at 2 different office settings, which may I add at this point I wanted to hit my head against a brick wall!!, but after looking around and trying out different options. I came across this options box and I was looking at it and thinking hang on this can’t be right. This is to easy so this box was a massive step and a step closer in getting to the goal I needed. And by selecting the Do not check spelling or grammar it worked and by magic my error was not being detected….YIPPPY so now I found a way to stop spell check from checking my document for errors which was all well and dandy but only problem is how do I get this thing to stick and it go to the point where i was reading 303 page pdf document from Microsoft and reading one of them is like trying to understand hieroglyphics. but trying to find a way to enable this tick box could I find it NO I BLOODY COULD'NT. At this point it must of been between 10:00pm and half past and I must of gone through EduGeek a fair few times to see if anyone else had come across this. but to my despair no not even one lol. So I start looking at other sites and people was coming out with all sorts of solutions that either worked or didn’t some sounded like it did but what was involved was really over complicated procedures and reghacks and allsorts....which i wasn’t even going to think about doing because it just seemed so messy......so after a good night’s sleep because I had to stopped because my eyes just felt like popping out and trying to use logmein and Impero just wasn’t going easy. so came in this morning and trying to think how can we do this.....so I spoke to my Data Manager who is an office expert and we was looking and showed him what I had done and we wondered if we could save this under the default template that office uses……….sounds simple right….so we made a new template and made the changes to the template so now we need to and replaced them on user profile so we uploaded them to the folder under \Application Data\Microsoft\Templates and then delete the profiles of the computers rebooted and logged back in.....did it stick no !!! and by this point we knew we was close but just what was it that was stopping the template. It turned out that it was office itself so every time we make changes to the template office would over right file which very annoying so the key was permissions so I changed the permission on the normal.dot template that I created so that the system account had no access to over write the Normal.dot template and hey presto SORTED. We also created a copy of the .V2 profile for windows 7 and rename it something like NoSplChkProfile.V2 just because this way we know that this profile is for office that has the spell checking function disabled along with the GPO settings. Word of caution as you can see under the gpo settings it will say capitalize the first letter and it is set to disable well not sure but office still capitalizes the first letter why I don’t know Well I hope you have enjoyed reading this as I have created it Thank you for your time Kevin Lane Network Manager West Park Academy

ok my friends I have was up late last night gone 11 may I add but telling letting myself that this isnt going to beat me and I will post a blog once i have had chance to have a cup of tea and finalise things but let me tell you something what an absolute B**CH it was and it works with windows 7 and windows xp with mandatory profiles
-
Lol I hear what you are saying and I agree but in the situation I have on my hands I have to try and give a solution, To their needs. But thanks

what about through a gpo...i came across a school...allen school or something the network manager made a gpo with a lot of changes tired importing it but didn’t work, still gott the grammar and spelling error come through so it didn’t disable it but best one yet I’ve seen surely their must be away........if can be done in 2007 surely it can be done in 2010 why would Microsoft make an adm template setting available if you can’t disable or enable them makes no sense
