  1. This blog is to help people with problems with small basic when installing small basic as admin and all is fine you run the program test it out and it works brilliant I thought...NO! I'm wrong, as when you are logged in as a pupil and start to code it runs fine until you save the project and then you get a nice error about access denied. I thought that it could be an issue with group policy, so I move the user up and up the directory structure and tested and every time with a reboot. At this point I'm thinking ok must be a local issue, so added the test account to domain admins group to see what would happen. You would of thought that the code would run, but no did it heck so at this point I'm thinking ok could be the domain user group, which is added to the local users group on the computer so I remove that and made user that at this point the user was a local administrator. rebooted and logged in and guess what......NO... ACCESS DENIED and at this point I'm stumped. so after installing small basic on my computer and running the code I noticed that program was running from a temp directory. so I thought at brilliant, ok lets check this out keeping in mind that we have mandatory profiles. so check all the ACL permissions all was ok. so I took my attention to the local system temp directory tried giving the user full access to the temp dir (still with domain admin group applied) no nothing. By this point I'm looking on the tinternet and seeing if anyone else comes across this problem. I even get the process monitor application to see if I could see anything their and no nothing. so now I'm thinking what else could it be. so I turned my attention to FSRM, and created an exception for the test accounts home directory, and to allow system files and exe. and hey presto it worked, I could run the application RESULT they can now open, code and run and save. and just to make sure that they couldn't get to the cmd.exe in system32 I opened word created a hyperlink to the program and they still get the access denied happy days

  3. Why don't you just use AD description field and keep the hosts name the same
  4. have done fixed now i had to change to a different ssl certif and change the rule in isa and the hostname in iis very strange i think their is an underlying issue with the isa server anyway so im going to upgrade (long over due) to UAG

  6. It is Pain but I think once you have done a few kind of comes second nature but capita should of thought about this in the design change if other software e.g anti virus can update the name and even their own solus2 version worked when renaming why cant they make it work in solous3 I think some one was looking out of their window when creating the code for solus3
  7. Normally an issue with the profiles
  8. Well that's depending on how you want your new structure to be personally I don't put dcs on our hosts because I don't like the idea but I know people have
  9. I don't know how first class works so forgive me is there no way you can export them to a pst file or use outlook express and connect to their servers that way and then do an archive or something
  10. Yea I a agree with mrbios creating a virtual environment with fail over hosts with HA and a csv or cvs can never remember and also knowing what qourm you want is going to be difficult I didn't get a consultation however I did speam to people but majority o spent was going through visio and Microsoft training book it And also if you are having multiple host you also need to think of the bigger picture too such as power failure and redundancy its not easy also you need to think about ur switch gear do you want all going through your main switch or are you going to have separate switches Are you going with a 2008r2 cluster or are you going with 2012 Hope I haven't scared you but you have to plan every stage but ita definitely fun even though sometimes I was wondering are the hosts ok have a put in enough resources or should I brought that extra 10gig of ram lol
  11. I have an ix2-200 iomega x2 TB drives in a mirrored array drive S/N K1BL332A79 they are going for about 150 on amazon so I will accept anything between 70 and 90 comes with power cable you will need to download the software as I don't have the disc anymore (kids) say no more can deliver but depends on how far
  12. What you should be thinking is do you really need remote access on an ipad from home ipad security isnt exactly great
  13. We use fms and yes to a point. You are correct you could. "use the spolit cheque" but im pritty sure that it creates a entry in the journal log also if the auditing people ever found out then your stuffed. But I can't remember if they have to either destroy them or give them back to the bank. but also I think you have you put in the sequence of the numbers for the cheque aswell
  14. In my opinion It is always best to shutdown the guest VM. Reason why is because you don't know what is being written back to the cluster and the hyper visor could become corrupted there are too many factors that could go wrong. Just because MS might say yes it's ok to do this. but in the real world do you really want to take that chance
  15. Bad design then
  16. Yea I def get that checked either cpu is from a bad batch or the heat sink has been installed incorrectly or bad design position or the fan sensor is faulty How does the cpu fan sound is it constant?

  21. Changing services can be tricky depending on time and location (whats in your area) You need to get an actual time scale so you reay need to know you have xzy of months You then need need to decided who to go with or at least who to approach DO have at least 4 including staying with lea (at least you can compare cost plus any new promises they are going to make) Once you have spoken to them and you know what type of speed and connection you want its down to cost now some people willa say have a backup line some wont for me we dont why because whats the point being on a slow line when you have over 300 people trying to access a 10meg line or whatever either way if its down people know its down In some circumstances it the it can take a good few months just to get a survey of your site (incase they are not allowed to use other people's equipment e.g bt etc) so they may need to run a cable so you need to know were the cable is coming in Are you going to bring equipment in or are you going to lease it dont forget you will have to configure it if you do it wrong on ur head Also external IP you need to know what services you want open to the world e.g http https dns smtp etc and best of all this info when your done needs to be DOCUMENTED any questions let me know
  22. You could always do a self study course for the A+ and N+ im 30 next year ok im a NM and have my mcsa and other new certs but I love my passion for computers and networks and I my self is thinking of doing a reed course which has the N+ and cisco but im doing it because I feel I have a gap and if you have the basic skills and know your way around a laptop and pc and know the hardware and know basic of networking then in someways you already are an ict technician its just how you bring your self across and be confident in your ability and to show them you have the skills
