Yes, it made one of our Brothers go offline. It would print a test page then go offline. No matter what we did it would not work until we reset it then it would successfully print one job then go offline again. Changed/upgraded driver then it worked ok.

Just my own personal opinion, i'd rather see an advert for a job saying 'ranging from 12k to 30k depending on experience' rather than waste time trying to find out . Does not mean everyone thinks like me......! -

I'll have to look into the IE7 patch to stop installs. Is it easily removed when you want to allow IE7?

I have set up another server with DHCP on our domain purely for redundancy. I don't want to use the 80/20 rule. I know the standby DHCP server requires manual intervention if the other DHCP server dies but this will do for me at the moment. I exported the DHCP settings using netsh DHCP server and imported them the same to the other server ok. I have a Scheduled task to run to export the DHCP settings nightly to a txt file so i can import the most up to date settings quickly if i did need to manually start the other DHCP. My only question is and i think i am correct thinking this anyway but second opinions are always good. I have imported the scope to the standby server, the DHCP service is running, but i have not authorised the scope yet. Can i leave it sitting like this and then just authorise as i need it in case of the the DHCP server going down, or do i need to stop the DHCP service and start it when i need? Ihave also set the 'conflict detections attempts' to 2 as recommended my MS for a standby server.

Now bear with me on this one, Our staff have laptops which they have a local account on as well as using their network account at school. We use WSUS in school to deploy all our approved updates. My problem is when staff are at home logged on to the local account on the local laptop (which has admin rights) they can manually download the Windows Updates without our control. Now most of this i suppose is OK but something like IE 7 which we have not deployed yet or even attempted to use the ADM templates for is a pain. I have users coming up and complaining abut IE stuff just because they don't know how to or like the look of IE 7. Is this possible to block the local user account from doing Updates even though this account is an admin account? My other dilemma is i guess the 6 weeks holidays if i stop the WU. I guess there should normally be only one patch Tuesday for WSUS to deliver out updates but its still a month before they come back to school. What are your thoughts on this? @Grumbledook. I know you have the same type of set up with your staff laptops, how do you handle this?

I have a server (good spec) that is used for back ups. Trouble is that when rebooted it takes an age to boot up. It tends to be the part where it applies network and computer settings before it gets to the log on box. It just goes on and on and on. I have check DNS and all is correct, i have given a static IP, a reserved IP and also a DHCP IP and it makes no difference. I have check the event log and again nothing Any suggestions?

@Ashers Could this be something to do with the original permissions on the profiles folder you re-name?

I can't believe no one has deployed this yet? Surely some of you must have?

WE have SP2 on our Print Server, it holds 58 network printers and we have not had any problems since it has been on. Yes the spooler will stop every now and then (no more than once a fortnight when their are a lot of print jobs stuck in printers) but this did this before SP2. One thing i would check is that all your printers have the latest revision drivers on. We did have an issue with a dodgy driver, we did not know a new revision had been released and as soon as i we updated it it was fine.
