Hi all, I am currently running Ghost console version 11.5.1.2266, on a windows 2003 server. We are looking at moving to a Server 2008, not neccessary virtual, in fact more likely to be a physical server but would like to know if it is an option. Also, is it stable on R2, and will it run on 32bit and 64bit? I have read a few articles claiming that it 'works', but I would much prefer confirmation from any of you guys that may have actually done this yourselves. If so is there anything to watch out for? I know licencing (Symantec) can be a pain, but I think I have that covered. Also is there a newer version to the one I am currently using? Bit reluctant to run the 'LiveUpdate' in case it installs, and I am not ready for this just yet. Thanks in advance. Steve.

BJG I can ping to but no joy with Telnet. Shoutcast works. I have a meet with the tech guy at streetlifeFM this afternoon so hopefully he may be able to shed some light on the problem. Thanks for the input guys.

I have tried it with version 11 and 12. File>Open URL still gives the same problem.

Hi BJG Yes it is a publicly accessible site, the link is StreetLifeFM. Just click on the Listen Online option, from there it should open WMP and play. Thanks.

Hi all, I have a problem that I just can't seem to solve. We have a resident music station based at our site and they want to be able to stream from their website to the College computers, using the 'listen now' option from thier front page. I can't seem to get this to work. Media Player opens up and sits there for a couple of minutes, then reports 'Windows Media Player cannot play the file because a network error occurred'. The way I understand it is that the .m3u file just contains links to mp3 files. I have tried all the various proxy settings from WMP 'Tools/Settings', changed Security Settings in IE, and trawled the internet for answers, but no go. I have tried it on a Windows 7 system with IE8 and a Windows XP system with IE7. It works OK on my home system. Has anyone come across this before and been able to fix it? Thanks in advance for any help. Steve.

Nice one thanks guys. I uninstalled and re-installed the client using the SMSSITECODE switch and it appears to be working OK now. Incidentally if anyone is interested, immediately after installation I opened the Task Manager Resource Monitor, ticked ccmexec in the overview window, and it was interesting to see the huge amount of network and disk activity that occurs for 15 minutes or so, while ccmexec contacts the Site Server, presumably while it carries out the hardware and software inventories, and various other actions. Incidentally, what preperation would I need to do to prepare the Windows 7 client to create an image, so as to avoid any duplicate GUIDs etc. Thanks again for the help.

SP2 is installed, on R2, and the site is running in Mixed Mode. I will try reinstalling the client with the command line options again. Gatt, it is not convenient to upgrade to R3 just yet, because of a few other considerations, but it is on the list for the near future.

Hi all, We currently have SCCM 2007 with R2 installed. Our clients are all WinXP and are operational from with in the SCCM Console. The ConfigMgrClientVersion on the XP systems is 4.00.6221.1000. The SCCM Version is 4.00.6487.2000. I have been trying to test the client on a Windows 7 machine. It is doing a manual install OK but will not do a ConfigMgr Site Discovery, with the error message 'Automatic Site Code Discovery was unsuccessful'. Do I have the correct client version to work with Windows 7? From the Console, the machine is reported as having no client, Approved is N/A, and assigned is yes. Does anyone have any suggestions that I can try? Thanks in advance. Steve

OK I logged in as the Domain Admin of the Domain the PC was in, managed to create a local account, gave admin privs, and still the same error message. I was able to install the driver tho as this Domain Admin, which was my quick fix. (Task Manager was still greyed out tho so something is not quite right). Thanks to all, don't know if I will get the time to get to the cause of this problem, but will drop back if I do.

Thanks Mac. I have actually logged in as a Domain Administrator and that didn't work either. I will try the other options and report back.

That's the one with the problem. I have a seperate account also in the Local Administrator group which is experiencing the same problem.

Hi, I don't know if anyone could help me out with this. Over the Summer I updated my XP images. I've just been to add a scanner to one of the reimaged Student machines, and it appears that the Local Administrator rights have been removed. I get the standard message when I try to access the Device Manager, Task Manager is greyed out, and the scanner driver install fails. To make it more confusing, it only appears to be on specific (newer) models, not all systems. The only time I've known something like this is through a virus or rootkit or something. I have scanned everything, driverpacks etc, and wondering if it is either a Windows Update, Sysprep, or a device driver or something. Does anyone know how to restore the Local Admin privileges as a quick workaround? Thanks

Hi gl3nnym, Maybe if you get the Microsoft Virtual PC, (which is free), you may be able to find a .VHD of Vista from Microsoft, or a 30 day trial or something. Sorry can't be more helpful than that, it is what I would try to do.

Hi all, I was wondering if it is possible to install Flash Player and Shockwave to a location other than the default? I have looked through existing posts but I can't find anything relating to it. The reason I ask is because I use Deepfreeze on our Student desktops but I have a hidden, thawed partition that I use for other apps, and I was wondering if I could install them there, and would they still function correctly. Thanks in advance.

Hi guys, I've been updating my XP images and i am having some probs with the SoundMAX audio drivers. One of the systems has a DQ35MP m/board, and after syspreprepping and imaging, it comes up with the error 'The SoundMAX audio driver did not load. You may need to reinstall SoundMAX.' This error comes in the form of a message window, with the tick box option 'Do not show this error message again'. However, sound is working fine, and there are no 'Unknown Devices'. I wouldn't worry too much about this, but when you do actually select to not show the message again, it only applies to that profile, and as I use Deepfreeze this will get to annoying to leave. Has anyone come across this before, and is there a fix? Thanks.

I have a few of questions: 1. Can the resulting MSI created by the 'Advanced Installer' be distributed by SMS, SCCM and GPO or is it more likely to work in one rather than another? 2. Can any MSI be edited, whether or not it was created in the 'Advanced Installer'? 3. Can PSEXEC be used to distribute any MSI and is it configurable? Thanks all.
