Hello, no no not tried new user yet. Will give that a try later. I am hoping that it may solve the issue. If it still fails, I will take a look at your Classic Shell link, otherwise I will have no option but to wipe it! It's literally two days old. M$ need to sort these issues out.

Another Windows 10 Problem.... I have a brand new, fresh Windows 10 computer, fully updated and not tampered with. Initially, I found that calculator (which used to be accessed via Ctrl+R>calc>enter) now no longer works. In addition to this Calender and some other apps such as mail have vanished. Going back to Calculator. If I search for it in All Apps, it is not listed, yet it is still in existence in: C:\Windows\System32\calc.exe If you try and execute it, you get this: I found a useful website online which covered Start Menu problems, and suggested executing the following in PowerShell: Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"} I have tried this twice now and it has not helped. Before this, I ran sfc /scannow from an elevated command prompt. I have since ran it again in System Recovery and tried chkdsk /f/r but neither are helping. When I ran sfc /scannow from System Recovery command prompt, it said Windows Resouce Protection could not perform the requested operation. My next step was to try and set up a new user account on the computer and see if it still refuses to work. Has anyone came across this problem before? Could understand if this was an upgrade, but this is a bran new, fresh install, with nothing but MS Office 16 and Adobe Reader installed. Getting a little tired of all of the bugs and querks in this new OS.

When I checked today, there was just one. There are thousands and thousands of ones I approved months ago, so no don't think it is to do with download times. -

WSUS not working for client computers, what can I check
talksr replied to talksr's topic in Windows Server 2008 R2
Ok I have set the automatic update checking frequency, but I notice that on the system I am on now (Win 7) it has been doing updates between 11/6/15 to 17/12/15 Almost all updates have failed since 15/10/2015, which would have been about the time WSUS was installed. -

Ok, thanks everyone, I have changed them both to: http://10.75.44.11:8530 Is there an easy way I can check if it is now working? DNS should be fine, any way of checking it's ok? -
WSUS not working for client computers, what can I check
talksr replied to talksr's topic in Windows Server 2008 R2
Ok, thanks very much will give it a go. Do you think I should just put IP. If I browse to IP, I get the following folders (not sure if I should include the IP and folder in the path on Group Policy)... Data SophosUpdate SUMInstallSet Update Manager UpdateServicesPackages WsusContent WSUSTemp -
Hi there, I set up WSUS a while back, but I am noticing that I have a total of 32 computers (which is wrong, we have around 80), and all of them are showing as "The computer has not reported status yet" None of them have a firewall enabled and they all pick up the following policy... Our FRDC is \\stm-sr-001. \\stm-sr-002 is a domain member server 2008r2 used for Sophos EC, BE 2015 and WSUS. A little confused as to what the issue could be here?

Last week of December, so may have just missed out. We have a couple of HPs which are not working. The main one at the moment is the HP 800 G1. We have HP 400 G1's which work absolutely fine. I ran the driver scan on a vanilla install on the 800 G1 and got the following driver: Intel I217-LM - it's the NIC driver. Have been banging on about this driver for around 1 week now and only today RM said I should import it into the build. I have imported that driver and recreated the boot image. Will try it tomorrow and see if it works. Keeping my fingers crossed.
-
Ah ok, we already have it - it must have been put on during the server install. We have a new RM server which was an upgrade for our old server 2003 model. It is just a case of putting on the right driver as you say. Really not sure why they wanted me to smart client it to diagnose this issue. I have already explained it works fine as vanilla. I need to get the driver on the image, and they have had me farting around smart clienting it when I have already explained that we have a really large number of these 800 G1s and can't be smart clienting them all. Language barrier maybe?

Ah I see, yes have a valid CC4 account. Didn't even know about this!! I am slowly finding out that they have missed telling me quite a few things. I went for my CC4 training about 4/5 years ago, maybe since then, there have been some reasonable changes.

Hello, Thanks for your help. You would have thought it would be NIC drivers, but the funny thing is, it goes a long way through the RM build on Windows 10 and then when joining to the domain, it fails. Build Process aborting due to the following error: Communication exception failed to send request or receive reply within maximum number of retries. If there was a fault with the NIC drivers, it would not have managed to get that far. Also, you mention "If you have the Window 10 Client Pack" - I don't have this, where can I source it? Thanks again
-
Well yes, that is what I was expecting, but we seem to be going round and round on the RM merry go round at the moment. They have had me test that Windows 8 works, we already know it works on the same station through WDS. Then they had me install Vanilla Windows 10 -already done that too and confirmed dev man has no errors or problems. I have suggested thrice now that we should export the working drivers from 10 Vanilla and use them, but now they want me to Smart Client it. Not sure what that is going to achieve. This issue has been dragging on for three weeks now, have got a stack of brand new systems still not able to go out to classrooms!

Thanks, no that's perfect. This will be a standalone so that will be just fine. Thanks

Hi, I have a new HP computer coming which has a 250gb SSD and a 1tb standard hard disk. I have never set up a computer with an SSD before and was wondering what the best way would be for set up. I would assume we put Windows 10 on the SSD and files on the second drive. Is it as simple as just installing the OS to the SSD and then configuring shortcuts to the second HDD for Pictures, Videos etc? Would be grateful of any help.

Thanks very much for your post. I found the driver site for this model: Drivers & Software for HP EliteDesk 800 G1 Small Form Factor PC - HP Support Center. But you mention you used the regular MDT driver. Where did you find this?
-
Does anyone know where I can source a WinPE driver for Windows 10 for an HP Elite Desk 800 G1 computer? I have been on their support site, but I can't find that specific driver. I need it for our RM CC4 server such that we can use Windows Deployment Server to deploy Windows 10 to this specific model of HP.

Haha very funny! Would like to get the back off to help the drying process, but....ah what a surprise, it takes ANOTHER screwdriver I don't have. Looks like a P something or another. Star shaped but missing one star tip. Got to love Apple.

It was a month ago that a user came to me with a mac which had suffered water damage and now I have another. This time it is a: Part No: FE684B/A 13.3 - inch Macbook Pro Model No: A1502 RFB MBP 13.2/2.4ghz/4gb/128gb FLASH-GBR This is newer than the past 2010 model and as such, I believe it is entirely flash based in terms not only of RAM but an SSD. I have not had a chance to open it up yet, but she said she had taken it to the Apple store (it was a refurb) and the quote they gave her to repair it, was more than the price she paid for the item when she bought it direct from Apple as an authorised refurb! Although we don't have any pictures to go on yet, does anyone think it is worth looking at or should we just bin it or keep it for spares? It doesn't turn on or show any signs of life.

I had thought of using the Windows 8 drivers for Windows 10, but it would be doing that already through WDS as the same Windows 8 drivers are going to be used for Windows 10 as I have not added any additional ones. We can install Windows 8 on this model of computer with no problem at all. The issue seems to be that HP do not currently offer a Windows 10 driver for this model of computer.
-
Hmm, thought we would have trouble..... We have a large number of HP Elite 8300 Ultra Slim computers. They currently have Windows 8 on them and WDS through CC4 works perfectly in deploying this OS, however when trying to install Windows 10 on them, we get error after error. RM have spent weeks looking into it and have just got back with the following... ..."I got update that this can occur due to client communication or driver related issues. Could you please verify whether appropriate windows 10 drivers for HP Elite 8300 Ultra-slim are installed in RMMC ? If not, please contact the vendor for exact windows 10 drivers including WinPE driver so that we can add it to a new build disk and test." I don't believe the Windows 10 drivers are installed on RMMC as nowhere in their guide did it ask for them to be installed, but RM have remotely connected several times to take a look. I have had a look on the HP site, and I can't find any Windows 10 drivers or a WinPE Driver. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks
