Oh dear, that is a shame

Hi, I was recently told that as a school, we were entitled to download a copy of VM Ware. I set up and account with my school details, and I can see I am licenced for VMware vCenter Converter Standalone. Does anyone know if I am able to get VMWare Workstation or is this something we must pay for as a school?

Thanks very much for your reply. I am perfectly able to replace the hardware as you have done, so that is not an issue, but how about the config? Have never configured managed wireless. Was it quite easy? We already have an HP Procurve 2610-24-PWR which has POE so we literally just need new APs, controller and respective licences.

Hi there, Just looking for some approximate ideas on cost, We currently have trapeze/juniper mx-8 managed wireless solution which is over 6 years old. I am looking to replace this with something more new. I know Ruckus APs seem to be pretty impressive these days. Can anyone give me some ideas on what sort of costs I would be likely to pay for around 22 APs and a respective controller? I would rather buy the controller and host it here on site, but I know this could work out more. We are having quite a budget slash in our next financial year, so trying to work out what sort of money I need now. Many thanks.

Hi, I have a Server 2012 with Windows 7,8 and 10 clients. Can anyone tell me if there is a command I can run to view the uptime for all switched on computers on the domain?

Thanks both, I am clued up, did a CCNA a few years back, just don't have the time to focus on that and all of the other things I am doing. Would be very happy to get someone in who works in this area all the time, set it up the way he and I feel best, and then I will take it on. Like I say, it has been a few years, and I would rather implement something which works first time, then fart around working out why something I have done is not working as expected. We have HP switches at the moment, which work reasonably similarly to the Cisco stuff I was trained on.

haha if you can fit a technician in one, that is saying something! Well,I am going for two, wonder if I should get one 800 wide, one 600 wide. We are only a primary, but 3 form, so I should hope that one of either size should give us the capacity we need. Otherwise, it will have a width of over 1600 with both next to each other. Does anyone know if you can take the sides off of them as we would want to cross cable between the two.

Do you know if they do them flatpacked and also, what is the bonus of going for a 800 wide rather than 600?

Thanks for your help. Have told them a couple of times that I am not all that happy with the option available, but don't seem to be getting anywhere. I have two problems: 1. it needs to be flat packed as access to the data room is very tight. 2. they are re-cabling the entire school, don't want to hack them off and have to get the data cabs from elsewhere as they may say they can't cable to it the way they wanted. I would have thought a couple of these would have been good.

Size in terms of height is our only downside as we have some things above, so 45U is the most we can accommodate for, but I am getting two of them. My main concern is more about using a rack I have never heard of. I always thought Rittal were quite good but our install company don't seem to want to go with any of the main brands.

Never heard of the prism ones, would rather go with 1000 and be on the safe side I think What sort of cost at the prism ones?

Hi there, We are in the process of having the network rewired at our school and replacing the smaller wall mounted network cabs with some proper server cabs. I have been back to our network supplier in the hope we could get a couple of HP server racks, but they say they can't get any and have offered the attached. SERV78100.pdf Does anyone have any thoughts on these? They are offering to supply and install two of the 45U 600mm wide, 1000mm deep racks with roof mounted fans and 12 way PDU for almost £2k. Can't seem to make out who the manufacturer for this rack is. We currently have several rack mountable HP servers including a HP ML350 G9, ML350 G6, and some smaller 1U HP servers. We also have a 3 unit Cisco router along with a 1U firewall. The majority of these items are quite deep. Finally, the data room the racks are to go in has a right corridor meaning the racks would need to be flat-packed. Does anyone have any idea on weather this is a good deal?

Thanks for your helpful post. Hmmmm, ok well that is odd. I have the server in question, whereby the network logons are very, very slow. I then have another school with perfectly quick longons, and no issues, however neither of them appear to have had Folder Redirection enabled. Both servers have Not Configured set for every name in this section of GPO. The server on site two which runs very reliably has Server 2012 with Ranger 8.0.0.1. The server with very slow network logons and tons of user profiles on C:\ has Server 2008, a much older server and Ranger 7.3.3.1015 I presume that Ranger is taking care of this redirection, but must be failing to do so on the older server. Is there anything else I could check?

Does anyone have a copy of the respective part of Group Policy which deals with this area? I can't seem to find any records of it ever being configured.

Thanks everyone for your help on this, I tried making a new account, same problem so took the decision to completely wipe it. Can't say I am all that impressed with Windows 10 as this is another of many systems to have gone wrong. Can see why the upgraded ones could go funny, but didn't expect it with a fresh install. Really hope they can get these bugs sorted asap as it is ruining a really good product.

Ok, here is the result... The first command did not work so well: The second worked very well: The start menu still seems to be broken. The log file from the first one is quite long to post in this reply. I have put a copy of it here for your reference. It would appear that the Start Menu has got even worse with four or five missing apps on the left hand side and one missing right to the Twitter tile:

I had wondered if Windows Update may have been the cause, but didn't see any update errors. It was fine when Windows was installed - only seems to have gone funny since the updates and Office.
