  1. I originally wanted to go with RAID60 but did not seem to be an option. Potentially RAID5 nowadays is not enough? Also some interesting network config to look into. A ping with -l 9000 fails.. so looking at Config on Cisco side
  2. Latest results Move to NTFS, default cluster and MTU change has helped
  3. Interesting, the major difference seems to be i get poor write speed. Which almost sounds like a setting on the SAN New results with SAN volume now reformatted to NTFS
  4. The issue is more speed testing it is slow compared to StorageSpaces, even though SAN is All SSD Re tested using ATTO from VMs 2 * Hyper V Hosts - Dell R630 1 * RAID1 - OS 4 * Intel SSD and 4 * HDD - StorageSpaces on each Worked well however the 4k video requirement has meant space issues StorageSpaces retained but SAN for more storage requirements greater than hosts have and HDD tier is slow SAN also gives snapshots and use of cluster Setup with ReFS however seems this is incorrect so as its not live going back to NTFS https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/failover-clustering/failover-cluster-csvs
  5. Using iSCSI SFP modules direct into chassis, no daughter card HyperV - - - Updated - - - Already use StorageSpaces but 4k video and alike meant capacity has become an issue. Also when it falls back to the HDD tier as it fills the speed collapses
  6. Hi, We recently purchased a HP 3PAR 8200 SAN with 16 * K2P91A - 3.84tb drives Initially configured as RAID6 4 * 10gbps connected to Cisco 6506 2 * Hosts - Dell R630 with 2 * 10gbps connected to Cisco 6506 for SAN Jumbo frames enabled The performance is not quite what I was expecting Previously I have used Crystal Disk Mark Is Crystal a fair test of SAN? Unsure if Cisco side the links should be Aggregated via Port Channel? Raid6 is obviously more fault tolerant and slower than some other examples Thanks
  7. Confirm with Locker it really is the cause? Backup AD via System State or another Backup utility you have first?
  8. Its just a thought for the moment.
  9. Hi, We are on an LTSC version so we have a little more time to think about it. We may give some thought to Linux.. a lot of our systems will be web based What is everyone else looking to do? Update To Add context Vast majority of our systems are moving web based, therefore just a browser would be enough Lots of older hardware that is fine but that W11 would make obsolete Recent issues with Windows patches Thanks Alastair
  10. Sadly I suspected this might be the answer A while ago I started building servers with the C drive as just the OS The original idea being worst case, say with Home folders on a File server we could build a new box Attach the storage volume Recreate shares
  11. Hi, Reading up on versions of W10 we have used, trying to find the exact EOL We have W10 Enterprise LTSC Version 1809 Our original understanding was the LTSC version we went for had a 10 year life Everything now suggests this is out of date However at time of install 10 years was mooted as the life span This suggest same features but I'm assuming that's it and its not the same version https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/whats-new/ltsc/whats-new-windows-10-2019 How can I tell if this version is Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2019? If it is then no problem as we are then up to 9th Jan 2029 as per this https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/lifecycle/products/windows-10-enterprise-ltsc-2019 If it is out of date, then we will gradually re image using W10 Enterprise LTSC 2021 https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/lifecycle/products/windows-10-enterprise-ltsc-2021 Which would be 12th Jan 2027 Thanks, Alastair
  12. Hi, What workarounds have people used for this? This seems plausible, our RE is Disabled https://www.checkyourlogs.net/fix-kb5034439-failed-to-install-0x80070643-january-2024-cve-2024-20666/ Having to do this on a number of production VM would be very time consuming along with risky in terms of having workable backups to hand Wondering if any other fixes? Thanks, Alastair
  13. Hi All, Do any of you use M365 Apps rather than Office LTSC? We are looking at this, however getting it to license is proving problematic. Used - https://config.office.com/deploymentsettings - To set Shared Computer Licensing Configuration.xml It did work initially, however rebuilding to test it asks to sign in, even though it signs in to Onedrive within app, eg Word Possibly its better to go Device activation? Thanks, Alastair
  14. Buy a POE switch Intelligent Brokerage in Harrogate sell them at a very good price Last ones I got, 3750X POE where circa £300
  15. What to change to?
  16. In this case you would have Student use their own device for MFA? I guess its fair to say most would have a smart phone nowadays
  17. We do not use MFA for Students Restrict to UK was an initial option while we think about the problem Mobile phone ban in 24/25 year Various systems use 365 so need access offsite In similar scenarios how have other Schools handled this, eg if you did use MFA, how?
  18. It was better than nothing and flagged on a basic level VPN use
  19. Hi All, Currently we do MFA for Staff Students restricted to UK for sign in with no MFA Had request to allow access from our Public IP without MFA Thought about this, I am going with no.. Yes its a pain having to sign back in Just because your onsite, Student could attempt to sign in and so forth so MFA still should be in place Students We Went with UK only due to VPN use and then Educated re not using free VPN That said possible accounts do get compromised So MFA for Students, but if so how do other Schools achieve this, if you have done it? Also in light of phone ban this might not be practical We use 365 related systems for Homework and so forth, so making just onsite from our Public IP would not be an option Thanks, Alastair
  20. Seems to be related to URL Issue occurs on some PC's where the URL ends web=1 Changing to Web=0 works Awaiting feedback from Supplier of system we use
  21. Image attached. Its not all PCs Using Edge Tried different users Resetting settings etc to no avail Anyone seen this before? Thanks
  22. Pretty much my experience. We are all Cisco, I know from testing bandwidth and latency is pretty much bang on and yet Senso broadcast is very hit and miss
  23. Who did you use for the survey? We are similar. Testing some Juniper kit, seems to point more to building issues
  24. Has anyone come across these? We recently moved to Redstor for backups and it flagged one Student for a number of files as being high risk. Thanks
  25. Same answer in essence "A few weeks back, I was having a chat with someone about OneDrive, and they said they have some software that sits in their file server and acts as the middle man to sync their drives to Onedrive." In Windows think you can use Files on Demands for this Is there still a need for some software to map one drive to a network drive anymore Possibly for older apps, CloudDriveMapper I have come across
