I don't know what all the fuss is about! They look good and people admire you for having one, that's what's important, surely?!

CCTV Solution 20+ Cameras and recording server etc
ben604 replied to RabbieBurns's topic in Physical Security
Mobotix offer, arguably, the best image quality of any CCTV solution on the market, they're absolutely professional. If you've got a 10gb fiber network, then send the recordings to a $5k storage server running the industry standard Milestone recording software and you'll still save $100k. -
CCTV Solution 20+ Cameras and recording server etc

I think he got his terms mixed up, you can't do wireless PoE! I'd go for Mobotix cameras. You can record to SD cards IN the camera and only use network bandwidth when you want to review the footage or back it up (over the internet or your network). The image quality is excellent and you can get day/night cameras too. -
I can't wait for it. I wanted a Dell Streak, but they were impossible to get on 12 month contracts without buying one outright for £500. This is the optimum screen size for me.

Have you checked the SATA mode in the BIOS? We've been getting BSODs after installing XP on to 7 machines as the SATA mode needed to be "Compatibility", maybe it's the other way around for yourself?

Help me buy a car! £3700 for a large diesel hatch/estate
ben604 replied to ben604's topic in General Chat
What would you say was good mileage for a Mondeo at around £3-4k then? Should I be after 55k miles or are they still ok at 80k+? After 2 weeks of research, I'm usually completely set on what I want to the exact detail when it comes to Music equipment or PC hardware, but this is really throwing me... -
I've got £3700 to spend on a car. I've been searching high and low for a couple of weeks and I think I want a 03-05 Mondeo Ghia 2L Diesel with around 60-80k on the clock, although I have seen some Audi A4s and VW Passats with slightly higher mileage/lower spec for a similar price. What would you spend your money on? Low mileage Ford or a high mileage German machine?

Axis P1344 indoor, HD 720p, varifocal DC-Iris lens IP security camera with day/night function, on-board SD recording, H.264, PoE That does 30fps, in HD too, with Audio. There's a 3.5mm jack in, so you could and should use an external mic as all integrated mics in camers will be useless. Especially for music.

Hello, We're looking to potentially buy a Smartboard with an integrated projector to avoid some awkward installation arrangements, but we're not sure if we've got enough room between the ceiling and the network/power trunking on the wall. Does anyone have the board in question and a tape measure handy to check the total hight from the base of the board to the top of the projector? The Smart website doesn't have the information and trying to contact them for information is proving tricky... Thanks in advance, Ben.

So, we went to see the Foo Fighters on Saturday. Everything went as expected, we didn't see Tame Impala or Death Cab, but we managed to arrive for Biffy, who were fine. As an aside, it was nice to see Mike Vennart, once of Oceansize fame, on a nice big stage in front 60-odd thousand. He's got an interesting way of playing guitar. Aaaaanyway, the Foos do what they usually do, played lots of good and a couple of bad songs very well. Fun was had by all.... UNTIL... Someone during the excitement jumped on my girlfriends foot and injured her big toe (the hospital later confirmed it's broken!). She was in a bit of pain, but alcohol had numbed her somewhat, so she said she'd carry on when someone else jumped on it by accident again! She turned to me and said "My toe really hurts, I think it might be broken" and promptly fainted. About 10 seconds pass of me trying to wake her up and she comes around and is back to her feet, I asked her if she was alright and she said "yeah, I'm ok" obviously embarrassed! I then said, jokingly, "don't do that again!", to which she replied "I might have to..." and dropped like a sack of spuds to the floor again, this time eyes WIDE open, staring into space, completely limp. It took about 20 seconds for her to come to, the last 4-5 seconds she was obviously trying to work out who the hell I was. Very scary. So the security lifted her out, along with me and we went to get her treated, back stage! The band had finished while we were being escorted back there, so we didn't get to meet the band, but as she was getting treated, a big dude walks past with some drum sticks, so I shouted "excuse me! Are they...?" and he walked straight up and handed me the sticks without saying a word and walked off, only to return about 3 minutes later with a T-shirt and a badge thing for my gf! Nice gent. At that point I had to ask if they were Taylor's, to which he replied "yeah man, I'm his drum tech, he warmed up with them earlier". http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6057/5899008670_6f0398d16e_b.jpg We got home safe and sound. The end.

I've got my tickets for Saturday night! Can't wait. I saw them at Hyde Park and Old Trafford a few years ago and it was excellent. We looked at camping, but it was £30-odd each! So we're spending £15 each for a taxi back to Cambridge to stay at my Aunties. Ace.

It's a nightmare, isn't it! We need about 35 metres to cover the whole room...cheapest we can buy it is about £98! Well above our £Zero budget! I think we're going to give in, paint it black and hang free rugs from Freecycle up in carefully chosen locations. It's probably better to keep some bare walls, it might sound a bit too clinical if it was completely dead!

Hello, Not sure if this is the right forum or if it's even permitted, but I'll ask anyway! I'm in a band, we've just leased an Industrial unit to practice in for 12 months and we want to make it a little more homely...to that end, we're after a few freebies! It's a long shot, but if anyone knows of any wide black material/extra long curtains and or office dividers being thrown out, we'd love to take them! We're on the Wirral, but we're willing to travel around the North of England / Wales for the right stuff! Thanks, Ben.

Thanks for the input guys, I was hoping for some photos of your banners as much as anything! Not sure they'll go for a pun based slogan, they're a bit old school if you know what I mean...

We had Ofsted in a couple of weeks ago and we can finally announce to the world that we are an "Outstanding" school! Yey! We also want to tell the locals, in 4 foot high text on a 20 foot banner outside the school, but we're not the most creative of types... Has anyone made/got any creative banners outside of their school for us to take inspiration from? Thanks in advance, Ben.
