Thanks for the replys. Nope not a typo this is 100% serious. £3074 + vat for a days work. Corblimey I am in the WRONG job! Oh I forgot to mention - if we go ahead and give them the £3074 they will reduce our yearly support charge by approx £500/year. Which is ver nice of them. If we do not go ahead and give them the £3074 they will not support our hardware or software any more and I will not be able to get any system or bios updates in the future. We bought the hardware from them only 2 years ago at a cost of some £8600. Butuz

So a company want to come in and double check two storage servers to make sure they are in 100% working order so they can charge us a yearly hardware and software support contract fee. They want to send one engineer in to spend one day to do the "requalification". Cost? £439 per HOUR. One days worth of work. So thats £3074 for one day one off cost they want. Plus the yearly charges. Good value? Butuz

Yeh the only reason I pulled the trigger is because at a shade over 300£ it actually starts to make very good sense. Back when it was £450+ I couldn't justify it. IMHO the 3G is pretty obscenely priced as on top of the £100 plus premium you have to pay for the data plan too. I just don't need Internet all the time that much to warrant the extra cost... Wireless at home and wireless in work means I am connected 90% of the time. Overall Butuz = happy. Butuz

Well chaps I am afraid I gave in an popped into my local tesco extra last night and picked up a 16gb wifi iPad 1. I am typing this on it now!!!! First thing that strikes me is the quality of the unit and the screen. Whatever apple do wrong they certainly get syling and build quality spot on. Second thing that strikes me is actually how useable the on screen keyboard is. I started off using two fingers and after an hour or two have gratuated to using 2 to 3 fingers on each hand at the same time. this makes for surprisingly rapid typing!! I was not expecting this as I had trouble typing on my iPhone 1 due to the tiny keyboard. The on screen keyboard in landscape mode is very usable. The only thing that really slows you down is numbers as you have to enter the number section and then go back to qwerty section. Overall very impressed! I joined it to iTunes on my admin pc and sync my exchange account so I have my full calendar and contacts. So far I am using my calendar and the notes app In work to good effect. I plan to have a look on the app store and see if there arer any other business / productivity apps available for free. Last night I just sat in front of the tv browsing Facebook and a few if my fav forums and it did the job excellently. So to recap. Very pleased so far, for what, web browsing, calendar and email, note taking It is perfect. How much use it would actually be for a pupil or teacher in a school on the other hand is a much harder question to answer! Butuz

Currently using LAN on iSCSI. So if the Veeam box had a NIC connected directly to my SAN network switch via iSCSI that would work? Thanks Andrew

Hey guys - I am looking at possibly purchasing Veeam to bacup my VMs. One Q I have is - does Veeam backup VM images and files via the VMWare ESXi servers or can it connect directly to the SAN and offload the data directly? Many Thanks Andrew

Yep or £329 new. Have to admit I am struggling to think of a reason why not to pull the trigger on one! Butuz

I have to admit at first when I saw petes post I was discusted - but now I am simply jealous that you guys in England still appear to have waaay more cash to spend on ICT than us in Wales. Butuz

To be honest I am seriously looking at getting a Ipad 1 16GB. For £329 inc vat from the Apple store it now represents somewhere near good value. I mean nock £100 off £329 and that will buy you a horrid mickey mouse tablet with a crap screen. Paying £600 for the top notch one is a bit bonkers. All I need is enough storage for documents etc (not gonna use it for music much) and dont need 3g as 3g is mostly rubbish in most places round here. So the 16gig one seems to do the job. Verry tempted. Mind you I know ill end up using it 90% for school work so I may end up going the route of getting one through school. Butuz

Went on a superhero stag do to Birmingham not too long ago - I tooka different route and went as He Man. Ok some would argue he is not a true superhero but whatever - the ladies loved it. My mate had an ironman costume and I think that was the best one - very good likeness. Normally I would have laughed if someone had asked me to dress up and go out in a town - but we had a ruddy fantastic night one of the best i've ever had! I'd do fancy dress in a hearbeat now - too much fun. Butuz

Serif Draw Plus / Photo Plus X3 / X4 are great for vectorising stuff. Fairly cheap too compared to Adobe, Corel etc. Butuz

Great prices for solid machines. Will see if you have any stock in a few months when I get some moolah!!! Butuz

No. No. Yes. Yes will also respond to phone calls / pupils in emergencies. One technician per 800 PCs here. The scenario you descibe above is not feasible in any secondary school. Butuz

Looks very nice!!!! Congrats mate!!! If you fancy a tiny bit of constructive criticism - make the animated banner much much smaller. The header plus main menu plus amimated banner takes up almost 75% of my screen and thats at 1280x1024. I almost have to scroll before I can see anything at all! If you don't fancy a bit of constructive crisicism - IGNORE ME! Butuz
