thanks for your input - still didn't work, just tried identical printer with identical J7958A card - dam thing worked first time and detected the printer immediately - must be a faulty card.

Ok, I finished the wizard, but was unable to print the test page - it just says the device is not supported when I try and print a test page. I tried both the hp universal print driver and the 1320n driver as well.

Hi I previously was using a hp 1320n locally attached to a pc. As my title suggests I'm trying to connect a HP1320N to a 2003R2 or 2008R2 printer server. However, when I use the printer wizard to create a new TCPIP printer port for the printer it is not detecting the network card jetdirect (J7958A). All I get is the standard unable to detect device do you want to use a generic network card etc... It has obtained a dhcp address happily enough and I can browse to the web browser interface. I have googled around without much luck - any ideas? no firmware updates available.

Hi We have just purchased some additional machines to go in a room with some existing Macs. The existing Macs are on 10.6 and communicate with WGM happily enough. We cannot get the new MACs running 10.8 to talk with WGM. Should they be able to talk with WGM 10.6? Any advice please?

We have decided to continue with replacing teacher laptops and getting rid of the single pc in each classroom. Just trialed a fantastic universal docking station (£90). very easy to setup - usb cable from the laptop to the docking station, installed a few drivers in seconds, job done. It gave me audio, video and even the promethean iwb still worked with no noticeable loss of quality. We have desks which we can hide the docking station in so the teacher has literally just one usb cable to plug into their laptop and away they go. No need to even touch any sockets on the wall.

Current situation We currently have 10 macs running 10.6 which we can use NETBOOT to reimage them from a macmini server - all works well. (setup about 3 years ago) Problem We have just purchased an additional 6 imacs - when we try to run the same process (pressing the N key at startup) it will not start the image process it just gives us 3 beeps. has anyone else experienced something similar?

Hi Does anyone use Universal Laptop Docking Stations? In particular I'm looking for a device that can sufficiently handle audio and video. I have seen a couple on the market (ie) Any pointers would be appreciated.

At the time I couldn't afford one - looked seriously at Network Sentry 500VM Network Control and Application Server, but best part of 20k + ongoing so opted not to bother at the moment. Completely vlan'd off, devices unable to communicate with other devices, Ericom web connect solution used to allow any device to connect to a rdp session via a browser using html 5, so not overly concerned about updates and av at the moment. forgot to say just about to trial aruba clearpass - will update post after trial. NAC - the other way might just be to upgrade dhcp server to 2012 which allows you to filter ip's based on MAC for a specific vlan.

what OS version you on - can't remember when, but I needed to upgrade OS to get this to work. I'm currently on 6.1.3.4. I created an LDAP server on the Aruba config (see below) On the LDAP server (2008R2) under Network Policy Server I created a policy to allow a specific AD Group combined with a NAS port type (Wirless IEEE 802) to allow only permitted users to logon.

Which Aruba do you have, I have a 3600 controller and we use the captive portal to authenticate using ad credentials

Seems incredibly cheap? Don’t forget that as a school you cannot backup to a company or datacentre outside of the EU. Do Crashplan meet this criteria?

I would be interested to know if Smoothwall can prevent access to the network if a student unplugs a school device(wired) and plugs their own device in?

thanks, got it working by amending an existing plan rather than creating a new one. IMO it's better than using group policy as it's far easier to target specific machines

Having the same issue, the custom plan gets created but doesn't set it to active. Anyone else had this problem?

ok found the initial setup.apsx, but I still have a X when I try to add domain details and the active directory browser window does not load correctly. when i add domain details I still get the following error error.bmp

Hi Running 2003 and IIS 6 on a member server I have gone through your documentation and I can't seem to get the main config page back. All I have access to is the logon screen, but I can't get logged in. Hi All Has anyone experienced a problem with IE9 for domain users whereby printing text from web pages is missing on the left. After checking margins in the page setup it keeps setting them all to 0. Unfortunately, if you try and change the margins IE9 doesn't hold it and reverts back to 0 immediately. Any ideas?

arh forgot to open a fresh MMC snapin - been trying to create one directly from my AD users and Computers...sorted thanks....
