it was a yes to both. On the 5th time rebooting it, it's alive. I'll be glad when this piece of junk is decommissioned.

This server is set to be decommissioned in a week but we need to keep it going till then. After the Christmas break, i've come into school and have the following issues. (please bare with me, my brain isn't up to speed yet) - Machines have a mapped drive issue in that they won't connect, on those machines i can't browse any of the server shares via DNS or IP - I've tried to join a workstation onto the domain, i get the following error; "the network path was not found" - I can RDP on to the server using it's DNS name. - I can ping it's DNS name and it resolves fine. - Printing from the workstations isn't working - On the workstation i try to join onto the domain i'm getting "The certificate received from the remote server was issued by an untrusted certificate authority. Because of this, none of the data contained in the certificate can be validated. The TLS connection request has failed. The attached data contains the server certificate." - i also get schannel errors on the server Does anyone have any ideas? I presume client devices and the server communication over secure channels, i can't help but think they use a certificate and this could be out of date? Can they even expire?

Interactive screens with whiteboard inbuilt
nathan replied to dgsmith's topic in AV and Multimedia Related
We've used Promeathean boards with the built in Android. There's a whiteboard app on them. You can also side load Google Play, haven't tried but wonder if Microsoft Whiteboard has an android app it could be an option. -

Schools Broadband In-line Filter down?
nathan replied to snagrat's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
i think it's when they remove some of the clusters, too much traffic through a small number of clusters. -
In my opinion, Relay and NetSupport are two completely different products with Relay being website filtering - it's not a normal feature of a web filter to grab screenshots etc so you may find it hard to find one that does.

Lightspeed Relay Problems and Support Issues
nathan replied to Scorpio's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
When i looked at them a while back, they were talking about releasing a VM that you could point your DNS to to ensure a default level of pupil filtering meaning any devices missed would still be filtered - have they rolled that out yet? -

Strange, we haven't got that or ever had that. Of course that is serious. -
Schools Broadband In-line Filter down?
nathan replied to snagrat's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
There hasn't been a lack of filtering, there has been a lack of identifying users filtering levels. i.e staff are being put into pupil levels. -
Definitely, High 70's sounds the average for Leicestershire.
-
What phase is your school? 70% is fairly low for primary.
-
I agree with Primus, it's down to what schools decide to spend there money on. Back on the topic, do people categorise by cost or spec although i understand they will be linked.
-
I'm just being nosey on what other people do in there organisations with regards to level of devices for staff members, do people have a fixed budget or a certain spec level for certain level of staff? I've always gone down the route of you'll get a device that will allow you to carry out your role, but even with this you could go for a cheap £250 laptop or a £500 laptop. I see various staff from the organisations that are using Surface Pros or Surface Books (the latter being around £1200) - i just can't warrant paying that for a single staff member.

Never knew they were bought out by GoDaddy, probably explains alot!

We have our websites with tsohost and have done for the last 18 months, we've noticed the all of them are pretty slow to load. Has anyone else had any issues?
-
Looks interesting, fairly similar to Zabbix.

Or could you hack a PHP script together to receive the logs and store in a database? There are classes available: https://www.phpclasses.org/browse/file/12157.html

Haven't used it before, but what about something like; LOGalyze - Open Source Log Management Tool, SIEM, Log Analyzer

I found that link a while ago and i've managed to adopt the USG and enter the WAN details on the controller - stupid thing still won't connect. -
USG/TTB Wires only leased line
nathan replied to nathan's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
I've just spoke to TTB and they said use; IP: 212.140.50.35 Subnet: 255.255.255.254 Router: 212.140.50.34 The USG is now saying the subnet mask is invalid? -
USG/TTB Wires only leased line
nathan replied to nathan's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
Hmmmm, thats what i'm using but it just won't connect. Bit more info; I'm logging into the local USG config which lets me enter WAN details and complete the inform url. I just get a red bar at the top stating "The Gateway is unable to connect to the internet. Please check your configuration." -
This may be a simple answer for some, but my brain isn't with it today.... We've just had a new wires only TTB leased line installed, the BT box is now live and I've been sent some IP details (changed slightly). I've been given; WAN Subnet: 212.140.50.34 WAN Subnet Mask: /31 WAN IP: 212.140.50.35 WAN Default Gateway: 212.140.50.34 Routers IP Network Number: 212.140.20.220 Routed IP Mask: /30 Routed First Host: 212.140.20.221 Routed Second Host: 212.140.20.222 Routed Third Host: 212:140.20.222 Routed Broadcast Address: 212.140.20.223 On the USG i have the following options under static for the WAN; IP Address: Subnet Mask: Router: Preferred DNS: Alternate DNS: What do i enter? I presume the Routers IP Network Number is the BT box connecting to the fibre?

Hi, i have a couple of standalone laptops that i'm reinstalling, they came with Home. I'm using an ISO from VLSC, place it on a USB boot and it doesn't give me the option to select pro etc. I've read up and found out that it's reading the embedded key from the bios and automatically installs Home, in order to stop this i've read; Create a text file called pid.txt and place it in the sources folder on the install USB, inside this text file add the following; [PID] Value=VK7JG-NPHTM-C97JM-9MPGT-3V66T NOTE: this is the generic windows 10 pro key Each time i install it continues to not give me a choice and just installs home. Any advice?
